News or bragging, depends on what the content is

Lastest information on the final round of dyno days for Street Commodores dyno days.

Cars with Raptor kits have taken out the trophys in 3 states in the competition, only NSW and VIC didn't have winning Raptor pressurised cars.

As it stands for 2007 - Street Comms dyno days V6 forced induction classes.

Qld - Brisbane - Tuddles 221 rwkw VS ute manual ProStreet kit

SA - Adelaide - Slyder/Chargd6 219 rwkw VU ute auto ProStreet kit

WA - Perth - Hoff 216 rwkw VX sedan Auto ProStreet intercooled

Hoff normally can make around 230rwkw but installation of new valvetrain components only a couple of days prior to running in event provided some issues. Issues being valve train noise being detected by knock senors and computer reducing timing because it thought it was seeing detonation ....... which it wasn't.

So, all in all congratulations to our customers who confidently took their cars/utes and competed successfully. Being reliable and consistant is what gets them over the line even tho there are more powerful combos out there, in some instances particularly this last week I knew of turbo and highly supercharged V6s that could have showed and stolen the glory but engine failure just a few weeks/days prior to the event took them out.

The year has gone fast, faster in fact than anything else I can think of but it has been very rewarding for us. There is more new products coming, some bigger, some more boost and a project or two more. Will advance the project VY a little more immediately after Christmas with the addition of the MACE intake insulator

To our very special customers who are daily enjoying their Raptor kit/system we say a special thankyou for your support and confidence in our product. You are winners!

To everyone we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and look forward sending out some more Raptor kits to some of you. A special thankyou for Just Comms forum for having us here as well

We will be back on the job (taking phone and email) 27, 28 Dec and from Jan 2nd. So if you are a bit bored and want to know the ins and outs of what kit is good for your car then give us a call/email.

In approx 3 weeks time there will some Raptor V's going into kits with Anodised compressor covers, in Black and Silver. These will be quite rare for the time being and some lucky people will score one of these limited edition jobs.

Smile Raptor going the full pull

A tractor puller sponsored by Raptor Superchargers in Victoria

Here is a pic or two of a Raptor V fitted to a tractor pulling mini rod, this is a 355 Holden stroker with all the best fruit happening inside.

Will be pretty happy if we can lay down 850hp with this little weapon, runs 13:1 compression on methanol and with up to 11psi boost on that Now we are talking cylinder pressure and torque

Well its time to report on the tractor puller, they just called tonight with results on the engine tune up, to be honest I didn't know what to expect.

The engine is the 355 as mentioned above, grout filled block and plenty head work with decent cam and 11:1 + compression. All the fancy rockers and blah blah. The tractor has been competing in non supercharged form and getting up to 2nd place in its class, basically running a shed tune.

Yesterday the whole motor assembly was shipped to a professional engine dyno for tuning both in NA form and SC form, all same day etc

The results in NA form all tuned up was 397hp @ 6000rpm, I guess 1.3hp per cubic inch, motor was built to be blown so a more dedicated setup to NA will have made more but the low RPM would limit the HP. Torque figures later when I get them.

Then they switch alcohol fuel (SC system setup for this), and dyno operator asks where the blower is, Carl (owner) comes forward with the tiny package (Raptor V is small) and dyno operato thinks "thats going to do nothing on this motor" and asks Carl what he expects. The reply was I think it could make around the high 500's, operator has his doubts. Initial jetting was installed and engine run, they completely missed the mark, way too lean, 4 major jet changes all in the BIG, BIGGER and then massive sizes before fuelling came into range. (Tim's note, when I heard this I new good news was coming).

The dyno operator was a bit stumped, why was this engine with the tiny snail needing so much fuel???? Well to cut long story short the engine made 610hp @5800rpm at a tiny 5.7psi boost, YES the Raptor V added 200HP just by putting the 6PK drive belt on!

Now this just blew the dyno tuner/operator right away, how did this little thing do SO MUCH, and the torque is apparently something else with the trademark Raptor torque line, again dyno operator hadn't seen anything quite like it, it explained the need for plenty fuel . All dyno charts, dyno run vids etc coming in the next 2 days. Some of the parts and setup will appear agricultural but the numbers are there for sure.

The good part is the engine to blower pulley ratio is a lower boost ratio than our Holden 5 liter kits!! So more boost and we can add to put this motor over 700hp, with the same Raptor V bolted to your V6 and V8 Holdens ....... absolutely identical.

They will run this competitive season at 610Hp and up it to 700 for the next season. Its makes around 35hp per 1 psi of boost, is that efficient or what?? 200Hp for around $2700 as the system is very basic for tractor use compared to a car. By spending around another $300 for a new blower pulley they should be able to add another 100hp, cheap cheap power.

So if your motor isn't making enough power with Raptor V its nothing to do with the charger, you just need a more efficient cam/head/exhaust setup and the Raptor V will ..........blow your mind.

Its first competitive outing will be on January 3rd somewhere out in middle of Victoria, might even go for a look.

We are just resurfacing lol, well we knew on the monday it was leaving us behind but ...... its not done till the fat lady sings it seems. In the next few days we are going to get rain etc from the tropical depression as it swings back right past us.

    Smile

This post is a follow up to the pulling tractor that has been sponsored with supercharger and bracket identical to what we sell customers with VN - VT 5.0 Commodores.

This weekend was the Australian Tractor Pulling Championships at Quambatook which is situated 300 km north west of Melbourne

They have various classes etc like any motorsport and the competition is extremely fierce with some of the most powerful engines you will come across any place ..... and more often than not 3 or more of these engines in one machine to amass a phenominal total HP output.

Anyhow it seems Saturday was the day for the "Aftershock" Pulling Team!

They took a 2nd place in the 950Kg class (if I understand the classes correctly) against the toughest tractors in Australia, we are talking 504 cubic inch alloy engines with MASSIVE 8/71 and 12/71 blowers, turbo V8s and just about anything else.

Anyway the 355 Holden V8 Red motor with 6psi boost (seems tame hey) which is pumping 610hp wiped out all of them except for 1 who beat aftershock by a mere 4 meters. The competition is about pulling the sled the furtherest. The driver is a mere 17 years old and this was his first season, all other drivers are 40+ and have many years experience.

The young lad is stoked, we are stoked and coming 2nd place in the nationals with the first centrifugally supercharged pulling tractor in Australia means we are on track to take the titles next year.

The plans are to start to wind the blower up some more and retune to suit, then we plan to take all comers

Till next Easter (titles) thats it for the Australian Tractor pulling season which runs for just 6 months of the year.

Just added Trophy pic which says it all!

    Default Vlc

The VLC option is the same cost for a new charger or to upgrade an existing owners charger

$850 includes the compressor housing modification, the radiator, the hoses, the 12V pump and header tank for cooling system

You can clearly see the liquid connections on this charger going into the water jacket.

I do apologise for not having more images, I finished a silver one and sent it out Thursday this week without so much as taking one picture of it, I will see if Matt Stocker can get me some pics before it leaves his hands on Monday

No Raptor tunes ever need changing for safe operation, even up to 12psi. Very well developed in the first instance

It doesn't do the full job of intercooling but it does get you 70% of the way there, its way cheaper, gives you 2 year charger warranty and gives you power and torque increases. You also can more safely use a lower octane fuel with cooler air.

I also have the Raptor V from the competition pulling tractor back with me, making some adjustments and also adding some more spinage (smaller pulley) for the coming competition season

This time lets see if they can hold the tractor together more reliably (Auto trans failure 3 times) and make a strong run all season. The 355 Holden is running like a trooper, no running like a 2 legged dog for this item!

    Default WILDFIRE for the Win

Recieved an email from a customer yesterday, some of you would have seen her ute around from time to time.

    WILDFIRE

Here is an excerpt from an email she sent

"Hey Tim - hoping all is going well for you and Raptor!! Thought you might like to know that the ute took out Street Machine Top Ute at Motorex Custom Auto Expo a couple of weeks ago. A pretty massive win at what is considered Australia's most prestigious indoor car show!! Blow away by it and a large part was due to the engineering points I gained being blown by the Raptor. Thought you might like that by way of feedback."

Just thinking to myself I wonder what it would take to have the ChipTorque sticker replaced by a Raptor Superchargers Sticker!

The tractor pulling season starts again in 3 weeks, lets see if the 355 stroker w/Raptor can take it up to the big boys again this year but maybe FIRST place this time instead of 2nd last year.

    Bring it on

    Smile Aftershock 09

Our Sponsored Tractor Puller returns with a vengeance.

2nd place in 2 out of 3 classes on the first outting of the season at Geelong.

The little 355 Stroker with Raptor is ahead of all the field bar one who has a 504 Alloy block with huge 8/71 blower, the difference is very small. If we increase the boost on the Raptor and keep engine RPM at 7000 AFTERSHOCK should be able to eliminate all contestants providing nothing breaks

This year I blueprinted the compressor clearances (has noticeably increased power) and gave charger a quick service, otherwise its back into action. During the season we will decrease the pulley diameter for more boost, increasing by 2psi more which will get AFTERSHOCK to around 670Hp, currently 610hp. The charger is otherwise a Standard Raptor V.

A lot of changes on the tractor, last year the auto trans just kept dying so lots of mods there. The 355 stroker crank is bending under load and is due for replacement, new crank and billet main caps have just arrived which they expect to fit before next round if they get time.
