hey guys got a Q. for u. i wasfitting my intercooler today with help from a mate and i dont want my blower to snap anybelt like the charged vx did, what we thought was instead of runnnig the 32 turbosmart BOV with the spring which i got quoted 400 buks i was thinkin of running 2 bosch valves between the blower and cooler and was goin 2 use a GFB BOV with modified spring on the other side of the cooler, the 2 bosch valves hav 25mm outlets so this should allow nearly double the flow of the 32mm turbosmart BOV so should have no compressor surge at all, and i dnt c a problem with the GFB BOV (althought i could be wrong) because its before the AFM and should make compressor surge due to the 2 bosch valves....................so does any1 think this would work?
if your listening tim i'd like to hear your oppinion 2 if thats ok

My only comment is that I have some tragic experiences in the past with GFB. You can take your chance with them.

psivyv6, after my experience, i would recomend going an aftermarket BOV a big one to ensure you dont incur my problem, i seen on plazmaman today they have a valve the same as the turbosmart one but for only 240, so i called them and they can supply a softer spring for supercharger application, tim also said to me another idea is when u weld the BOV adapter place it on a 45degree angle on the outside radius of your first bend from the charger about 5 inches away from the charger outlet, this will allow smoother air flow to the valve, its up to you, but its worth going the safe way

Price is always $280 for belt and bearing kit including labour, cheapest in the world! Half the price of a turbo rebuild and 1/4 of the price of any other SC rebuild

psivyv6 i have just had a look at you picture of you intercooler setup and seen that you have put you bosch plumb back valve on a straight piece of pipe as Raptor Charged vx said it is better to place them on the external radius of a bend this is wat i did and i havent had any problems with flutter (compressor surge) apart from when i was running one on a straight pipe.

Paying too much for gauges, apart from Ebay this could be an option

    Smile Prob a stupid question/questions

hi, just wanting some prices including shipping to victoria for the stage one kit and the intercooled kit. Do these kits need any other mods to the car at all to acheive the numbers posted?? reason being have a stock vt and cant put rockers and exhaust on straight away if i buy kit, if the numbers would vary what could i expect??

mick, if you can fit rockers and a good full system before you charge it, you will be really impressed with your power output, then also look at intercooling, then talk to tim about a 13psi pully,

We have been playing around with Raptor V in the severe mode on V6's of late

We are going around 13 - 14psi in the manifold after an intercooler, this is on vehicles with very good cooler setup and the Turbosmart valve to dump smoothly.

I will be straight up and say you would likely eat an internal belt once per year but you get a serious amount of thrust from this, absolutely not for use on standard gearbox's and that is for both manual and auto. Will rip 2nd gear out of your auto and will eat a GETRAG for breakfast but motor will love it . Diffs seem to be no problem if serviced properly.

To get this performance you need the following items/work performed

4" intake pipe and matching filter
Turbosmart BOV valve modified for use with Raptor V
    60.00 mm blower pulley
Optimise supercharger for minimum internal leakage (return headunit to Raptor for this shimming process and install of new high speed bearings)
Use of high lift rockers and matching valve springs.

If you are using a Raptor tune in most cases it will be fine but must be verified on a dyno, you need to know its ok on your particular car, our VY and customers VT have both had enough margin in the tune to give safe powerful operation.

The above mods will definitely have you eating RICE for Breakfast, Lunch and Tea

sounds like fun, but would my car be able to handle your base intercooled kit without the mods you've listed?? not that im not considering doing them.. i just would like to install the kit and work my way up with the rest of the mods over a couple months so it doesnt hurt my pocket to much. what would you recommend doing as a first step?? a mate of mine suggested an intercooled kit and a shift kit for the auto.

Hey tim, i have started to get a flutter in the high rev range when the clutch is put in and the bov activates you hear the air rush out and then a flutter. Is this a drama? or normal?
Wouldnt mind knowing the prices on the intake and pulley too! Cheers.

In reguards to you prostreet 1.5 kit. how much modification is required to install the intercooler to the front of a vs? it's just that i've got a bullbar from ECB coming for the car and don't want to have too many hassles with getting the both of them to fit. The bullbar replaces the front bumper altogether. Any one got front pics of a car with the intercooler maybe?

It is difficult to know if the ECB bar has structural material that goes back closer to the radiator than the stock bar, everything is made to go behind stock bar, no cutting, if you think your ECB doesn't consume any more space then you are good to rock and roll
