Ummm (to any cops listening) ONLY ON THE TRACK MATE.....

Now the real answer.....

Yup I have decided the first task will be to install the beast, then get dyno figures and 1/4 mile times.

Then 2 x sets of tyres are going to need replacing And being of a destructive mindset, will probably replace the wheels at the same time for some decent 20's

That is unless someone in Sydney wants a set of 18" Mags for a real good price.......We'll start a "save the wheels" column

The rockers and extractors did their thing on the stock standard tune.

You have a very real chance of making 220rwkw on a cool/cold day with a ProStreet kit and the mods you already have.
Sounds good.. When i rob a bank I'll be your next customer forsure or before then..

adam

Believe it or not I am out of area for next few days, on business in SE QLD. Give me a tingle or SMS after you laid down some runs, hope the weather cools of some more for best power.

Project car has been doing some pretty long trips lately and what a joy to drive, can overtake anything without going past 4500rpm, there is just that much torque to play with.

On this last weekend a couple of lads in a VX Clubby were sitting hard on the back bumper and this was like in the middle of nowhere with a huge straight out in front and I thought what the heck how about exercise for the VY, so expecting a massive lunge forward from the VX I floored the gas as the tailgaters pulled out for their run ........ quite suddenly the VX was carlengths behind ..... what is going on?? So I backs off to starting speed again and just wait, this time they back on the bumper so I gave them a quick flick to go past whenever they wanted. Turns out the VX "Clubby" was a VX Exec with a Clubby body kit all painted up to look the goods, had the greatest laugh. They were checking the V6 badges on the VY and finding nothing added up lol.

Anyhow what is next for Project VY.

1. An oil change, time for a fresh fill of Castrol Edge, if you aren't using this lube in your engine then I reckon you should be, cannot fault it in anyway. Definitely pricey tho.

2. Test a new type of ignition wire system, a while away but definitely in the works

3. Still needs those servo's fitted to the 4L60E

4. It has already been boosted up with a smaller pulley so a dyno test is in order, a dyno day coming up locally so I might prepare for that, will see how it works out

Sounds like another oportunity to advertise, a sticker on the rear window with, "If you are a holden V6 and want to keep up? Call Tim @ RaptorSc....". I am sure you would get at least a few query's.

Well with all the VZ action whats happening with the VY hey????????

The beast has just clocked 100 000 and some maintainence of more than regular items will take place.

I purchased some BOSCH Motorsport ignition leads from Supercheap and come as a made up set, supposedly good and not much other choice locally.

Read about em here

http://www.bosch.com.au/content/lang...eads_Flyer.pdf

Also sticking with the Castrol Edge, what a great lubricant for the V6, absolutely resists the loads of supercharging giving total engine protection.

Read the very impressive information and tests on this page

CASTROL EDGE 2008 | NEWS

This time switch from the PureOne filters as they just cannot be got anymore locally, so back to RYCO. Would still go PureOne if it was on shelf.

Ryco Oil filter : Air Filters, Oil Filters and Fuel Filters :: Ryco Filters :: Automotive Filters Australia

I have another ignition product here that I will be fitting also and maybe a new set of Iridiums, I have never looked at them and probably they are just fine.

The above type of post is to assist all Raptor Customers to have long and trouble free operation using products which we prove work with our charger kits. A lot of stuff out there is actually not so good and may not bring joy

Will let you know how it changes the car and maybe some pics

I will also say that the VY must be the best screwed together Australian large car of its year, not a rattle 100% tight as a drum ....... very very good body quality. There are things I don't like about it but a quality rattle free body is always automotive joy.

Also no replacment of ANY parts apart from standard servicing for the last 45 000 km. Diff, trans, engine .... all working without problem, the auto could transmit the power a lot better but otherwise works from day to day just fine.

Aussieguy

You put me on the spot now, some customers have done this already and no gains were shown in back to back testing in terms of HP at wheels. However there is likely to still be some useful temp reduction from the insulator.

Hey Tim,

Just a question in relation to Exhaust setup. Unsure if this was previously covered.

You've got

HM8TCSS
10 Year Warranty - 3.8 litre - This header converts your single catalytic converter header to a twin and will require two new catalytic converters for fitment. Allow at least 4 hours to fit. It is imperative that the fitting instructions and sequence are followed. Gaskets are not required for header.
» Download Fitting Instructions

Whats the difference between the above and below?

HM8CHSS
10 Year Warranty - 3.8 litre supercharged - This header suits the supercharged V6 and is supplied with flanges to weld to the catalytic converters for fitment to the standard catalytic converter position, or two new high flow cats may be purchased. Allow at least 2 hours to fit the headers. It is imperative that the fitting instructions and sequence are followed. The header is compatible with O.E. catalytic converters. Gaskets are not required for header.

If i had the top headers installed would it affect the Raptor supercharger with whatever needs to be connected from the charger to the exhaust if anything needs to be? I got no idear.

Also - Did you end up going with the:

HM8TIRS
2 Year Warranty - 3.8 litre Sedan IRS - This is a mild steel 2 1/4 inches , 2 into 1 system with a single 2 1/2 inches outlet and will bolt to the existing catalytic converter on the vehicle. This system will bolt to the existing catalytic converter on the vehicle and the system comes complete with clamps, gaskets and chrome extensions.

as it states VY HSV in ur posts?? is this the same system or different?

Cheers in advance.
