VY Clubby
No issues with cracking codes etc, that has been accomplished by tuning companies sometime ago, been busy, still happening when I get a break to get into it. Working on the Holden V8, Ford 6's, establishing oversea's distributors and of course the VU,VX and VY ...... as well as still manufacturing kits for VN, VP, VS and VT with the odd Mitsubishi coming back into the mix. And some other new markets happening in Sydney with 4x4s also.

OK, car is booked for tuning on the 26th February, this may shift to the Monday of the next week if still pushed but not later
We are on a mission now!! Looking for about 250RWHP but more is better, had a customer (with VT auto) with same system (as is going on VY) pull 283 RWHP/212RWKW on a Brisbane dyno today, but not everyone gets the golden apple

Checking things out for boost
Yesterday I took a few moments to check out a noisey idler pulley, hardly the thing to expect from a car with 62 000km on the clock, anyway removed the belt and check the the 3 idlers, one on tensioner, one just below coil pack and another between AC compressor and crank pulley.
It turned out the idler below the coil pack had a dry bearing and was all but stuffed, can't replace just the bearing on this one since the pulley and bearing are a complete assembly! Nice .... not .
So I completed a check on the other 2, it turns out that all three were made by different companies, NSK, NTN and another no name from CANADA. Wild variations in quality and product, it seems they mustn't be able to get it all from one source.
On the 2 non plastic pulleys you can replace the bearings quite easily, just press out the old bearing and press in a new 6203 2RS C3 bearing which you can get for about $4.00 ea which is what I did, so its all brand new again now except for the plastic idler one which I removed the seal from, cleaned it out (degrease and compressed air) and added some more grease. It gets thrown away when we fit the supercharger bracket, so long it lasts another 2 weeks (which it will) then all is good.
Thats it for the moment!

VY low
We adjusted our date to the 6th of March. However this afternoon we were going over few things with coil pack mounting and plug lead length, the VY will require 3 longer plug leads for the passenger side (will be part of the kit), so that makes it a bit different to the VT since they had longer leads.
Tomorrow or Friday will trial fit the charger to make sure everything is good there and then we are away.
Will attach a couple of pics of the coil relocation bracket and how the coil sits, very easy to fit and all the looms are spot on length to make this possible ...... all very easy!
Will adjust engine cover to fit around this at a later date
Enjoy the pics
More coming soon

Progress V1.1
Onto the job now as already seen in last post
Over the last few weeks we have had some trouble with the set of extractors which we had fitted to the car, they were touching the chassis on the drivers side and not much we could do about that, so we still had the HM's sitting around and said to the the exhaust shop to either fix the pacy's or strap the HM's on. Anyhow they checked it out and no go, so the HM's are now on and have heaps of clearance in regards to the chassis.
So away I drive from exhaust shop all happy camper, but lo and behold later that afternoon car starts running like crap, wouldn't idle, no low end power, and nearly stalling at the lights etc, damn not good and not happy camper no lol.
To cut long story short it turn out a piece of stainless steel from inside of new extractors had come loose and gone up into the electric EGR valve and jammed it open. Very easy to fix, just frustrating to find the exact cause. See picture of valve and the offending piece of metal in front of the valve.
Also blower kit is on car for trial fit, there have been some differences which we are rectifying as we go, nothing big and all easy to adjust. Fits like hand in glove and only took 30 mins to get it all on to the stage in photos, no clamps done up etc but perfect for checking everything will be fine when we get to Chiptorque.

Progress V1.5
Finally and finally it is all done!
The VY broke all our records for Stage 1 (Prostreet) kit with a WHOPPING 220 RWKW, the tune is absolutely outstanding, top marks to CHIPTORQUE for a brilliant tune. There is more in it yet since we are no near detonation limit at all. The torque is typically flat therefore giving the same power feel right throughout the RPM range. Pressure just touches 10psi.
We can only guess what an intercooled tune could yield, maybe even a touch of water injection would yield quite some results too!!
We might be blowing our our trumpet here for sure but this is the most powerful and simplest to fit kit for the ECOTEC 6 .......... period. It took 2.4 hrs (single handed) to fit the kit in the hot sun on the forecourt of chiptorques business, so simple, then a couple of hours of tuning and away we cruised, HUGE smiles.
Will get the charts up when we can get them scanned and also the images of the dyno tuning in process and images of the new setup just for the VY. That will be Monday next week.
For those who were waiting ........... sign up fast your wait is over and big results far ahead of anything else are yours to have
Just for the record
The VY has the following parts
1.97:1 FIT rockers
HM Headers and HSV twin cat exhaust system (replaced the Pacy's)
Raptor Prostreet supercharger system
Thats the grand total of parts it took to put the VY in the 290 - 300 Engine Kw range!! It is a recipe we have been always advising customers of and now proven it for all to see and copy!
Just awesome to have a blown car again!!

With a stroker plus the boost and a chiptorque tune you will get mad mad power . It does seem careful choice of exhaust system is showing up to be the key to big power, get it right and you can't go wrong!!
I just so wish this car was manual, this amount of torque etc would make for the craziest driving experience
