Your standard hsv headers aren’t that bad if anything probably just the cats are the restrictive part, I’ve actually got a set on my ssv with some custom de cat pipes as they are an upgrade over stock ss log manifolds
You really want to give it a good clean with some degreaser 1st and then make sure it is actually coming from the oil filter housing and not somewhere else
As the other guy said remove the drive belt and run the engine for a bit and you’ll know for sure if it’s a driven accessory i.e. idler pulley, water pump etc or internal engine noise
Add some nulon lifter free to your oil it’s really good stuff and will definitely quieten down your lifters as for the trunion upgrade there’s no real need to do that with your stock cam but if you’re planning to upgrade your cam then do it then
You really need to get it tuned too with those mods for one to get the best out of them but also it will throw the fuelling etc out and you’ll get o2 sensor fault codes with the headers
Just be aware that if it’s been lowered it may well have the shortened shocks that go with lowering springs so if you put standard height springs on shortened shocks it won’t handle ideally
Haven‘t personally seen one in the flesh myself but apparently black ops are a pretty decent and fairly cheap system that sound good according to the boost gumps YouTube channel, having watched a lot of their content can definitely say they know what they’re doing and talking about
I’ve never bothered torquing the caliper bolts and never had any issues just do them up tight and call it good, put a little bit of blue loctite on the threads if you’re paranoid
Top picture is an example of what your exhaust looks like although will be a single pipe and single centre muffler but the shape and route it follows is the same below is a ve sedan system, it says v8 but fits v6 as well so you can see why a ve exhaust system won’t fit your vu… not even close...
Not sure where you’re getting your information from but there’s no such thing as a 300kw v6 ve and also as per your other comment in the other thread a ve exhaust system simply won’t fit your car they are a completely different layout underneath, those mace 69mm throttle body’s work with the...
You do realise an exhaust system for a ve won’t fit your vu, totally different body and chassis design, also they never made a 300kw v6 either, 5L throttle body wont fit on an ecotec either they only fit with the older buick (vn-vr) v6’s
Naturally the alloy heads are lighter than cast iron but just curious as to weather the difference in weight over the front end of the car is all that noticeable with cornering etc?
No harm in switching to something like penrite hpr 10 (10w50) mine has half the kms that yours does and switched to the hpr 10 last oil change and all is well with it only noticeable difference is slightly higher oil pressure
The stock 5L is limited by low compression ratio and the std banana inlet manifold so you can cam it but don’t expect big gains by doing so, your fairly limited to a small cam for the above reasons
Try cleaning the maf, they get dirty over time regardless of how careful you are oiling your air filter, you need maf specific cleaner for it can buy it at the likes of super cheap auto and repco etc
As the others have said would need to know what it was before hand, it’s just a tuning tool at the end of the day if you’re happy with how it drives then don’t get too hung up on dyno figures
Wouldn’t imagine that would happen as it’s just engine oil with more detergents in it not an engine flush, if you’ve already got plenty of that oil probably just keep going with that
