Need VT V6 Cruise Control (New) Cable

I've been looking for a supplier for a new VT Cruise Control Cable to fit a 1999 VT Equipe V6, searching doesn't find anything new. Does any other model fit the VT V6 ecotech motors?? Thanks in Advance

what did you do to your car today?

Fuel pump isnt working, so pulled out the tank and checked it. Can't locate the fuse for it, and if I can isolate the relay then I can turn it on with a jumper wire and do some testing.

    Quality z-Bar Bushes

I took the advice to buy the pedders kit and they work brilliantly, solid rubber with quality solid steel plates and quick install time. In the process I have found wear in the control arm bushes so I am picking them up today. Thanks for eveyone's input into this issue. Sid

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

I grabbed a new CPC radiator cap on Friday, Bursons stock them at their Brendale store. All the other stores stock Tridon and when you query them on their generic OEM replacement caps they turn out to be Tridon as well when they do a lookup on the ordering source. I've done two of those caps in...

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

This might sound like a stupid question but when the cap is screwed down, it should be water tight correct? So the spring opens under pressure when the engine is hot? I pulled the hose off the top of the radiator and when I squeeze the bottom hose a few time (when stone cold) water is...

    Quality z-Bar Bushes

I fitted some new z-bar bushes to my 1999 VT Equip a few months ago and the Left hand Side (Passenger) has broken again, I suspect the quality is ****, where can I get some (as good as or better than the) OEM ones? Can you still get them from a Holden Spares place? Sid

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

Well that's two things to try: I do have a part of the driveway where I can park it nose down, so I will do that. The temp gauge is sitting at 1/4 - 1/3 so it would indicate the thermostat is working properly I think and the engine is not showing ANY signs of over heating...so that would leave...

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

Yes, I have replaced it a few times over the years... but I did buy it from REPCO so maybe the quality is not the same as the original. Is it possible I am loosing water under pressure? Maybe out of the radiator? I noticed a green spot under the radiator on the opposite side to the filler but...

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

Yes the kit I bought had two sets of end seals, 1 fits the other doesn't. I will grab a metal kit ASAP and hold it in stock. Sid

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

Thanks - I will look into that and get a set while I can. Would a 1996 VS ute with a 3.8L Ecotech engine use the same inlet gaskets as a 1999 VT Sedan?

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

So, time for an update! A few weeks ago I replaced the inlet manifold gaskets and checked everything, no sign of anything major but some gunk had built up against the gasket on the blocked of ports. It still looses about 1/2 to 1 cup a day if used all day. When parked after a good run, there...

    Brakes intermittently fading VT V6

I had the same issue just recently when I was towing my trailer and braking in a 70 zone downhill. After some research I decided to just bleed the brakes with new fluid and the brakes are working great. If there are no obvious signs of a vac leak, a $20 fluid replacement might be a cheap and...

Water leaking into VE Commodore - 4 Fixes

I've been looking for the same thing in my VT... it's been driving me nuts... when the rain stops here in Brisvegas I will attack this with vengence! Thanks Heaps! Sid

VT - Gear Lever knob broken

I purchased one of these from a Holden Dealer for around $20, it is held in by a pin but you need to remove the center console which is a time consuming but fairly easy job... mine has just popped up recently (I suspect the pin has popped out ) so i need to pull it apart again and check.

Vt commodore v6 over heating problems

I'm intrigued by the 2L milk container and electrical tape... are you saying you somehow stick the milk bottle to the bleed nipple and bleed the water into the bottle? Would a hose that fits over the nipple be better?

    Ignition Leads

Major service done and dusted.... I've replaced the leads with a boxed set from Repco... trust them more than eBay!! They didn't have individual leads in stock so I had limited choice but the car is running smooth. Sid

VS water pump and pulley damaged.

I just replaced my water pump last week... factory one reached 275,000klm. Repco sell 4 different ones depending on how much you want to spend. Takes an hour al up at most, and that covers removal, cleanup the gasket faces and fitting the new one. You screw on YOUR pulley (with spacer) onto...

    Ignition Leads

G'Day all, Two questions... What is the suggested life span of a set of Ignition leads in a 1999 VT Equipe and... I need to replace all my ignition leads as part of a major service I am planning, rather than taking one off at a time and measuring them, does anyone have a definitive list of...

    Sump plug help!

I know the VT engine had two different sump plugs, Series I and Series II were different... I bought a new VT, waited for it to be built, then on a factory service they damaged the sump and replaced it with a new one under warranty but the Series II came out so it has the later sump fitted now...

Is 100,000kms too high for buying second hand?

If I sold my vehicles you would end up parting ways with my 1999 VT with 175,000klm, a 1996 VS ute with 320,000 klm and a 1999 S-Coup with 180,000klm... all with an oil/filter change every 5000klm and peeling paint, but they go well and keep going..... so 100,000klm on an old holden is a bargain...

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

The water loss stopped for a while and then came back, on afternoon I parked the car and then heard boiling water rumble through the cap. I squeezed the overflow and it stopped, so I suspect a new cap is in order! Went to visit the Holden Dealership at Newmarket only to find the building...

    1999 vs ute

Its cheap to fix and will take you a morning to do if you have not done it before... I've done mine a few years ago and had no dramas, you basically take the intake system, injectors, fuel rail, air box off and then the intake manifold... most of my time was taken up meticulously cleaning...

are front brake calliper bolts torque-to-yield?

    Body rubber/seal on roof perishing

G'day all, I have a 1999VT Equip which has the two seals on the roof (running front to rear) perishing, are these an easy to replace item and still available? Thanks Sid

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

This makes good sense and is what I suspected could also happen... When the weather cools down a bit I will pull it apart and re-check the gaskets... might also check if the car is blowing steam out the radiator or hoses as suggested also.
  33. Z

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

I've only checked it via the dip stick both before and after a short warmup and the last oil change was fine when it was starting to show water loss... I'm tending to think its inlet manifolds, replaced the gaskets several years ago so they may have failed earlier than expected..

Loosing water but no obvious leaks

My 1999 VT equip is loosing lots of water but there is none pooling or dripping under the car and the oil is not the typical milky chocolate you get when it leaks in, so I am suspecting its the manifold gasket(s)... any other likely exit routes ? Sid

    1999VT with water in cabin

My VT appears to have water pooling on the drivers side and in the footwell for the rear drivers side passenger... has occurred a couple of times after heavy rain. The doors appear sealed but I'm puzzled as to how it gets in... could it be overflowing from a blocked vent/drain under the wiper...

    Not another CAS problem (hopefully)

I've bought sensors off ebay only to have them fail quickly. Where possible buy genuine sensors, otherwise the Repco ones appear to work OK.
