Looking at buying 20013 vf ss 6L

Very early VF SS-V Redlines had upgraded foam and extra bolstering on the seat base over the rest of the SS range. Only lasted a few months at best until Holden cost cut it out of the car. At a glance the seats still looked the same, but they weren't. The giveaway to the cost cutting is the...

Redline series 2 possible rwhp? And recommendations/ suggestions

Well, each to their own, but you just took a low mileage collectors car that can only go up in value in factory stock trim, spent a fortune on parts and made a low mileage car that will probably depreciate faster than it goes.

Is my VF a redline or not?

In series one on early models: Titanium trim with red stitching Better foam used in seats with additional bolstering on front seat bases (early production only) Forged alloy wheels with wider rears Dual horns Cup holders that slide out of rear seat base CD/DVD player with BOSE audio as standard...

    What's wrong with VF V8 Calais V's?

You really won't like my orange MY14 Redline then. lol The black interior is fine, but then again, almost everything sold in Australia is black with highlights of dark grey finished in black. I figured I would get one of the few Australian cars post 2000's that actually broke that unwritten law...

    What's wrong with VF V8 Calais V's?

I own a Redline, but in the right colour combo the Calais-V is a very sharp looking car. I can completely understand why some people chose them over the Redlines.

    The ultimate VF interior!

The girls might like the black roof guy, but they settle down with the beige roof man.

Holden no more: 600 jobs go, 10 yr support.

This. I wish/hope there as some way GM could give back to our government the Holden brand. Not to be used again commercially, but in a way to protect its historical significance to Australia. For GM to at least say "We know this means something to your nation and we respect that."

    Goodbye... Holden :(

In a nutshell the powers that be in Detroit, didn't understand the market in Australia. I think they were genuinely shocked at the fallout from the end of local production.

    Goodbye... Holden :(

Why am I thinking UN black helicopters and moon landing conspiracies right now?

    Goodbye... Holden :(

Well if the answer is working in jobs so low paid, you can actually claim social security benefits (aka United States) while employed for a living, then I don't think that is the path to salvation. Please excuse my lack of enthusiasm for throwing my standard of living away and giving the money...

Well you'd probably be in management.

Holden are super desperate these days

The decision to go to a fully imported model for sales, with the range available to them, was made in a boardroom on the other side of the planet. If that decision proves wrong and costs GM the Australian market, I completely and utterly fail to see why I should be even worried, much less care...

ZB holden made for Australian conditions ???

If it was still an orphan car, then it would be ignored. The ZB has an awful lot going against it. It never stood a chance. The only question for the history books, is what was going through GM managements mind when they saw this as a viable way to keep Holden profitable.
  23. DanielSS-V

Could Holden pull off a ZB SS?

If they haven't got enough crap for putting the Commodore badge on the Insignia, putting the SS badge on would just take it over the top. Never going to happen.

Thinking of getting a VF Calais, questions first

My car is an early build series 1 VF and I did notice when I rented a VF series 2 (2016 build) that there was less clear coat coverage in some areas, like inside the front guard edges (doors open) and in the engine bay. Maybe that is what the paint story is about? Holden did cost cut the cars as...

Change FE2 to FE3 in SSV

Thanks for that. :) Great to read your perspective, given your access to the different cars. Off topic, but always been curious about this from someone who has the cars to compare. How would you compare the characteristics of the L77 vs LS3? We always read about 0-100 speeds, but I am more...

Change FE2 to FE3 in SSV

Yes if anyone knows the answer to this, it would make a great FAQ. I remember at the time of the VFII launch that at least one review said the VFII was easier to live with on the road, but not as quick around a track with the revised suspension?

    Resale: Stock V Modified

I've always been of the view that anything like that you do to a car, you had better be prepared to write off the cost when it comes time to sell. If you can't afford to, its best not to do it. If someone gives you a bit extra over the normal second hand price, thats a nice bonus. Personal...

    $2000 off the new ZB

What is interesting to me is that given the ZB Commodore and the post manufacturing Holdens sales is so topical that all the major motoring sites online are choosing to completing ignore this story. You have to wonder why.

worst holden sales in 70 years

The Holden dealer in Hobart has a couple, but the showroom looks half deserted with the VF's and the HSV variants now all gone. I took a look at the ZB the other day and didn't like them at all. I own a VF and a Mazda 6, so the Insignia should be aimed at me, but nothing about it appealed to me...

    $2000 off the new ZB

That was a drop in RRP. This is a discount off the RRP. Subtle but important difference. Somehow GM thinks they will get more money for the Opels. Looking at March sales, I think that idea just went out the window.
  36. DanielSS-V

worst holden sales in 70 years

Well there is the issue of the product you are marketing. Many VE/VF customers will not buy this car (Holden knows that) and many who would suit this car will not buy anything with a Holden badge on it. Then there is the fact that medium size cars are a hard sell, no matter what brand is on the...

    How much would you pay?

Low 40's for top range models and price down from there. Can they make a profit on these at those prices? Probably not, but if my job was to shift them thats where they are going to need to be.

Squeaky Brembo brakes on SSVR S2

The police spec brakes are extremely good. You might like the Brembo's and I have them on the front of my series 1, but they are far, far from the only effective brake solution for a Commodore. They are on a Commodore for marketing purposes. They help sell cars.
