    L77 PCV valve

I once again have another oil leak. First was whatever that gasket and two bolts are above oil filter (part of the pan). Definitely fixed the leak. Now some 7k km's later, I have a sump gasket leak. Quoted $600 labour, $200+ for gasket which must be timing cover as well (didn't talk to him) plus...

1 inch cordless DA polisher - Best bang for buck.

I'm looking to lift my game and purchase the above for 2 - 4 times a year usage and really can't work out if I should be paying big dollars. It seems there's the $250-$500 possibly no namer's, Mint Pro Tools $500, Flex $700 (doesn't include pads), Rupes $1100! Is there any reason with low usage...

    Leaking sump gasket

So car went into a suspension place (best not say name) for 2 jobs, walked out financially raped for 5, including engine mount replacements! Dang I got charged for the experience, car does feel outstanding though, everything needed doing. Anyway to the point, took the car into trans shop for...

    Projector headlight lens damaged

Drivers side low beam has been getting worse over the years and has now had its day. Pulled the wheel off and had a good look and compared to the left it's toast. Does anyone know if just the lens can be replaced? If not, would aftermarket headlights be just as good as genuine, as they're like...

    MCA ProSport

I solved my Koni FSD issues last week with a trip to MCA for the ProSport treatment. After a couple of emails and a phone conversation and me thinking the wagon might need some custom valving (Red series), Josh (Coote) simply recommended their off the shelf ProSports with the 11kg springs and in...

    Front window thump

So about a week ago, the passenger window started making a dull thump at the bottom when putting it fully down. As of today, the drivers side is now doing the same thing. Other than that, they are both working as normal. Could the window regulators be on their way out, or is there another...

    GTS seat foam

Going to Proseat in Bris next week to place an order. 2 front seats in leather start at $1650. Anyone got pics of their material and designs? I'm pretty fond of the GTS R seat layup myself. Just for laughs, Holden quoted $1189 for new foam and cover for drivers side SS.

    To VCM cai owners

Upon discovering a coolant leak underneath cai from the small hose running from under rad cap, I noticed that the larger coolant hose has been rubbing on the intake and is borderline repalceable. Ill sleave it first, to stop the rubbing. You may want to check and sleeve yours if necessary.

Twin screw or Centri with high stall

If you ran a blower camshaft big enough to necessitate the need for say a 2500-3000rpm stall, would you waste the benefit of a twin screw and be better off with a centri? I can't say I'm in the market for either, just something I've mulled over for too long. Need opinions.

    Pesky Kia Stinger

Was in fetal position in "The Womb (quiz, which town am I in?) a few weeks back and had, as above, a pesky Stinger tailing me in dual lanes, never overtaking or gunning it at the lights. Just handing back like some kind of Apex Predator that decides if I live of die. Yeah I gave my humble 6l a...

14 month old Redline or SV6 thats been sitting around

I just cant shake the compulsion to snap up a Redline or an SV6 wagon before they're gone. They both have next to no km's on them. Worst case scenario though is they'd have the same 14 month old fuel and have not been started in that time. Whats the risks? If I did the deal or even before the...

    Audio - Tweeter pods

I've just had a quote for a fairly substantial audio upgrade which was placing tweeter pods at an angle, behind the plastic in the corner of the window, which I guess houses the mirror motors. Not sure how or where the attachment point was going to be, but I've just had a painful epiphany that...

    Blackvue vs Vico battery protection

Can't decide between the two. Only thing Vico has that I may need is more precise voltage presets. Vico 11.6v-12.6v in .2 increments, Blackvue 12v or 12.5v. Whats everyone using?

    Tow bar bike rack

Was wondering if Holdens 1600/2100kg towbars are fine for bike carriers? Was reading once that some towbars come with a warning not to use them with bike carriers, which I cannot possibly work out why. I was just getting ready to buy roof racks for my Thule bike carriers off the other car...

    Oil pump for L77

Was speaking with VCM today, as I see they now offer three different oil pumps, standard volume, +18% and LSA/AFM +33%. Was advised that L77 has +33% pump (or equivalant) and to use standard or +18% if AFM is removed. Got me wondering, how many L77 owners lowered there pump output when removing...

    FE2 shaft return speed

Bought a new set of struts and shocks to freshen up a high km sv6. Both strut shafts take 7 seconds to extend, one rear shock takes 15 seconds, which I'd think would be about right considering twice the spring rate on the rear, with the other coming in at a whopping half a minute to extend...

    Changing Cats, Tune?

Saving the dolphins on Friday. Finally got the car booked in to go from 100 cell to 200 cell and wondering if a tune is an absolute necessity? Exhaust guy doesn't seem to think it will throw a code or need tuning.

    Quick rattle after oil change

So I just did an oil change and for the first time in 137000km and changes evey 7500km's, I got a 1-2 second rattle upon startup. Should I brace for imminent lifter failure?

    Park brake problems

Car is starting to on occasions not release the park brake. Whether it's released manually or I just drive off, it can stay engaged even when the park brake light has gone off. I'll have to get it to Holden, but in the mean time, just wondering if anyone has had the same happen?

    $132 for EPB adjustment

Car was throwing code C027D with P/spanner symbol every time I would reverse and let the park brake disengage automatically. Also going from a short reverse to drive was keeping park brake on and throwing a code. Anyways Holden, on right rear have found slight slip before self release and park...

    Fluidampr

The time has come for a new balancer. Anyone know if p/n 760111 (as used in The Black Pearl) a straight fit to a stock L77? I'm assuming it's neither over or under driven and an everyday ARP bolt will secure it. Looks like around $500 plus postage from OS. Anyone sell them in AUS?

Wheel spacers to make Brembo's fit

Anyone have an idea of how many mm's of bolt on wheel spacer front and rear that I'd need to get Brembos under S1 VF SS 18 inch wheels? I like those wheels for some reason. I've done the T3/QFM upgrade around 50000km's ago, good value but its time for something better. Harrop will fit but...

High stall vs diff ratio change

Whenever my inner child says smoke em, I am continually disappointed that I was forced into an auto for the privilege of a wagon. What's everyone's opinion on a small stall vs 3.45/3.7 diff change for leaving the line like a ninja thats thrown a smoke bomb?

Safe to run E85 on a 95/98 tune?

I used to dabble in E85 in my S1 VF until I had it (maf) tuned. Told them it would drink mostly 98 but due to remote travel, occasionally half a tank here or there of 95. I can get E85 107 octane atm cheaper than 95 and am sick of the fuel smell of my tune so whats the opinions regarding the...

    Mild Cam Options

I'm just starting to get a noticeable tick on the left cylinder bank, I'll assume it's the infamous lifters on the way out, so I'm thinking it's cam time. Hopefully nothing catastrophic will happen for the next 8 weeks until it can be off the road to have the job done. The car is now...

    Standard ride height coilovers

I'm after some coilovers with a at least rebound adjustment but don't want to lose more than 10mm of ride height. Am I right in thinking that most coilovers adjustability range is from low to crazy low? Do they exist in the standard ride height form? If so whats everyone's opinions?

    Camshafts

Cam time has arrived in my "sequence of upgrades" and will most likely be my final engine power upgrade unless my balls drop......as in Powerball balls. Harrop Brakes

Hi all, Does anyone know if the Harrop 6/4 combo will fit the VF SS-V (non redline) wheels? I own an SS and am looking for a wheel upsize 19+ that is affordable, to offset the immediate pain my wallet will feel and there happens to be a few on fleabay for sweet FA with tread and to be...

    Upgrading stock brakes

I was looking at getting some larger and more powerful brakes for the SS Sportwagon. Correct me if I'm wrong but standard are 2 piston front 1 piston rear with a slightly larger front rotor. Meaning a Redline would have 4 pistons at the front and 1 at the rear, which is a massive difference in...

Auto Transmission & Diff Oil Change

What's every ones thoughts on a change of Auto and Diff oil at 15000km? I remember the specks of metal at the 1000km engine oil change left in the bottom of my black oil pan. They stood out like dog's balls. Now I'm the first to admit that I'm pretty much mechanically inept and don't really...

    USB 2 or USB 3

Does anyone know what the VF is running, 2 or 3? If it is USB 2 would a USB 3 stick still work? Also, could a USB Hub be connected so I could charge my phone as well as play music via mp3 player or stick? I don't own the stick or the hub to try and was hoping someone could save me having to...
