Fuel Tank Capacity V Fuel Gauge/TC Readings VZ Calais

Modern cars don't like running completely out of fuel, I guess it also stops people getting stranded by always having some reserve once it gets to "empty"? If you enter the diagnostics menu on the dash (I'd suggest only using it when stopped) it gives you a fuel level reading. Maybe you could...

'CHECK DRIVETRAIN' VZ 2005 3.6l Alloytec analysis

The check powertrain message could be anything. You'd be better off getting the codes checked before spending any money on unnecessary parts. My car had the powertrain warning, and it turned out to be a faulty oil pressure switch (and it ran perfectly fine).

    ute safety (or lack thereof)

It's possible the Crewman was similar enough to the sedan and wagon that it didn't need a huge amount of work to fit the side airbags. Might also have had something to do with the B-pillar being significantly different. Remember, they were launched back in 2004, when side airbags were unheard of...

Looking at the King Springs catalogue, they don't have a part number for std height Adventra. They do have lowered and raised kits though. Vz ss 6l check powertrain/saftey mode/reduced performance on dash

I'd say it'd do what ever it can to save itself. Reduce RPM limit, reduce timing, increase fuel depending on what the issue is. My car had a "Check Powertrain" light and it drove perfectly fine with absolutely no problems. The oil pressure sensor was broken, so that car didn't know what the oil...

Will a faulty radiator cap cause the coolant reserve bottle to spill coolant?

It could also be that there was too much coolant in the system and the excess has come out after a heat cycle. I used a small wire brush to clean up the threads where the cap screws on, you might get some corrosion there which prevents it screwing on properly.

vz v6 auto crewman fuel consumption question.

Record your average speed on the next couple of tanks, the higher it is the lower your consumption should be. My wagon gets between 9-10L/100km on my run to work, and the average speed is around 65kph.

    VZ 3.6ltr cooling system woes

One problem with a lot of stuff like this these days is they are made out of plastic. Radiator caps, radiator tanks, screws, pipes etc, and they all get old and break (or are dodgy quality). Have you had anyone (e.g. cooling system specialist) look into it to see if there is a problem? Luckily...

That is normal, it is due to the way the headlights are wired. I'm not sure if it is legal however... It is all down to the standard H4 bulb having two filaments inside the globe, and being used with two wattages. Standard headlights: Low beam = H4 (55W low beam filament) High Beam = H4 (60W...

    where is temp in menu

I tried this menu yesterday on the way home. Just be warned that when you get to the end of the menu ALL the dash warning lights come on at the same time, and the speedo and tacho will change and it will make a loud beep. Not something you want to learn when driving in traffic!

Tyre recommendation for wagon to replace 225/65R16 Bridgestone Turanza ER300

Originally a VZ wagon has 205/65R15 (648mm diameter) If you have 225/65R16 (699mm diameter) they are too large to be legally fitted (at least in NSW) The Berlina had 215/60R16 (652mm diameter) so they same size as stock. Bridgestone have the Turanza in that size in a 4 for the price of 3...
