    Radio PIN?

Old thread I know, but interestingly my radio pin is 4312, perhaps they sometimes use ascending or descending numbers with 2 of the digits reversed - still very much a lottery trying to randomly guess what it might be though.

my dash lights up when i touch the brake!!

With the brake/tail lights they are 2 pin globes (plus the earth return). As Jolls mentioned if you've installed a replacement globe or LED if it's just the single pin type, it will bridge the the 2 pins in the socket, so if you brake, the park lights and dash lights will also come on. Replace...

Need advice how much would an immaculate 2004 VZ series 11 full leather with 114000 original kms be worth V6 cheers all

I'm surprised nobody noticed (or I missed the post if someone did) - VZ series II 2004 - there's no such thing. Assuming it's 2004 and it's a series II (genuine original car with original series II badges on it), it will be a VY not a VZ (there's no VZ series II's except I think the VZ wagons...

    GVM required

With 2100kg towbar, it is only 2100kg if you use a weight distribution hitch or load leveling suspension. From memory there's a statement along those lines in VE owners manual. I have a VE SS auto which is 2100 kg with WDH. I still have my VX R8 chubby, but it's a manual, so only 1600kg towing...

    2010 SV6 3.6L Timing Chain

Just adding if timing chain done 30,000 km ago. Then timing chain normally were a problem after at least 100,000 km so even it's a recurring issue at typical km, I except you should have at least 70,000 km without the timing chain being a problem. As Gossie said, oil change twice a year is best...

    2010 SV6 3.6L Timing Chain

Just adding re the comments about 5 speed - if it's a SIDI engine it will be 6 speed. In this case it's 2010 so will be SIDI and will be 6 speed.

    Dragon Sport Vs. Potenza?

I got RE003's not long ago on the 4 for 3 deal. I've hardly done any kms since having them fitted. On a VE SS they are noisy, probably less noticeable in a VF. I can't really say what they're like in the wet as I don't use the SS daily.

    Tow bars

If you look on ebay, they list utes seperately to sedans, and wagons are a seperately listed as well. My guess is not the same.

    Battery Life

My SS battery just died, found out it wasn't the original after all, the cars 11 years old now, I bought it near 6 years ago, so I'm assuming it was replaced not long before I bought it, the tyres looked near new when I bought it as well, it's still on those tyres, but I've only done about...

VE Omega brake lights staying on when headlights are on

Agree, my father in law had a similar problem, I think he bought a single filament globe (21W) globe that bridged the 2 pins in socket. Possibly in daytime you might even see the parking lights come on when the brake lights are on.

what caravans can i tow with a vf sv6 commodore ute?

Good luck buying a fairly new caravan that weighs less than 2 tonnes, I think the caravan manufactuers have lost the plot with weight, I think they just work on the basis of 3500Kg rated tow utes are available, and they don't care so much about weight. I had a 2004 caravan, double axle full...

VF Series 2 V8 Fuel Consumption

So lets say when 560Km on E10 and when you fill up you put 56 litres in the car (still 15 litres in the tank), your fuel consumption In this case is 10l/ 100Km. In round numbers the 380 km per tank is probably somewhere about 15litres/ 100Km

Reverse lights VE Calais not working HELP

Might be worth checking trailer socket wiring on the car first. Assuming reversing lights are wired to the trailer plug, pins 2 and 3 are reverse and earth respectively. Being adjacent pins it would be worth opening up the plug (on the car) first and check there's no wire strands shorting...

VE Misfire on 3cyl after service

Otherwise is there any possibility something happening with the wiring loom connection to the coil - bad connections, perhaps individual...

LED upper brake light- pink slip

I had a problem with my high mount brake light in VE either 3 or may be 4 years ago with pink slip inspection (NSW) at the time. They did give me the pink slip OK, and advised me that the light not working. I started to try and get light out but didn't manage to actually get it out, but then...

    ZB charging system fault

Probably a good chance it's been idle for a fair time from manufacture. My VX Clubby is bad if it's sits for even 2 weeks, the battery gets discharged and most likely car won't start. I don't drive it much, I would never get more than 18 months out of a battery, and I think one lasted just 10...

    Vf Clubsport or Clubsport R8

Do the seats look like standard Holden seats or a HSV sports seat? The standard Holden seats are a giveaway to non R8, also the HSV build plate if it doesn't have R8 on it, it's not an R8. Edit, just adding the Clubsport badge on the console will only have R8 if it's an R8. Edit again, my VX R8...

The models that could have saved Holden? - including a VF SUV..

Of course the answer to the question in this thread is that nothing would have saved Holden, not unless Holden could have also saved the other GM RHD markets. At the end of the day, GM is exiting all RHD markets. I think there's no way Australia would have been an exception to that global...

    AFM?

I have an early 2009 AFM SS - it only has about 90,000Km on it, The earlier ones like mine with L76 engine are supposed to be the ones more likely to have issues, 2012 I presume would be L77. I wouldn't worry, my 11 years old SS has been fine (I bought it 5 years ago with just under 60,000Km at...

Stability control turns off, check engine light, U0073 code, no cruise control, accelerator laggs

Wiring loom on those sensors seems to be common problem, I'm guessing the problem isn't the wheel sensors themselves, it's the wiring. I think it's common with rear loom at the sensors.

Piston slap LS3 - this is very interesting

So what did they do regards the engine number Ron? New number, or stamped the replacement block with same as original then destroy original? My VX Clubby had engine replaced, it's marked in the log books as replaced engine, but the log books show correct engine number. I bought the car in June...

    V6 performance upgrade?

The old VK and VL power was somewhere about 120Kw, VK Torque 336Nm at just 2400 - VL torque 323Nm @ 3200 - remember the ad with the VL Commodore passing someone on the Nullabor, as the VL goes past it's towing a Yacht. Edit -

    2020 Commodore

I don't know about ZB, but I'd say that indicator is not oil level, nor is it necessarily a true indicator of oil condition. I'd say it's purely based on Kms and numbers of hours the engine has been running,so for example a car that is city driven should need oil change in less Kms than a car...

Replacing the roof lining in a VE...

I was thinking new seat cushion, back rest is probably OK. If a seat has to come out to do the headlining, that would be a good time to do the seat base cushion. Mechanically the SS (auto) is good. A while ago I had the roof and bonnet painted due to sun damage (Poison Ivy), I used to have the...

    Timing belt info

Tom, the V6 has a timing chain, not a belt. There's no schedule for timing chain changes. If you find documentation that's it has been changed, I'd say that's a bonus. As Gossie said the servicing does need to be consistent ie no missed services, services should be scheduled intervals or less...

Replacing the roof lining in a VE...

Went for a drive in the SS today, doesn't get used a lot. Until now, I thought the headlining was OK, the wife noticed first the headlining coming away near the windscreen on passenger side and looking closer it's starting to drop over backseats as well. I'm also noticing the seats have a bit of...

    DBA rotors HD series 4000XS

I'm pretty sure that the 4000XS is the same type I have on my VX R8 Clubby now (330mm in the case of the VX R8) . They look like a very nicely made rotor. I don't drive the car all that much and no hard braking, so can't say how they go in those conditions.

    VF SV6 Wagon 3.6

I don't recall ever reading any thread on VF timing chain problems. I'm concluding this is for one of two reasons, first is Holden did finally make improvements that solved the problem, or second is they haven't quite reached that age where they start to have the problems. I'd say typically Kms...

    2011 sv6 motor knock/tap. Please help!!

At least you do get a temp gauge. I had a 2012 Fiesta until 2 years ago, no temp gauge (it had outside temp but not engine temp). Wifes 2008 Forester also doesn't have engine temp gauge, but like the Fiesta does show outside temp.

    buying a 2009 Calais v8 6 ltr

Adding a Rear Spoiler to Evoke

I remember my first car a Bellett 1500 sedan, I put a CanAm hot dog muffler on it, sounded great to me, Sunday driving down shopping strip - shops all closed then, no one around and the exhaust sound bouncing off the shop windows. I also remember going to Amaroo Park and someone there from...

    ZB Commodore Dead Man Walking

I'd say subtract V8 sales, subtract ute sales, subtract long wheel base cars and subtract those that wanted rear wheel drive, but possibly add AWD, and those who like the idea of the 2litre turbo.

    ZB Commodore Dead Man Walking

Obviously ZB is smaller than VE/ VF no question, but the ZB is wider and has longer wheelbase than VT to VZ's, so are VT to VZ's not considered large as well?
