    fitting towbar on vy

Yeah, you cant flip it, its the 1600kg version with the two bolts under the back end, so it cant be put on upside down. Will get my body repairer onto it, cause they did a repair job under insurance about 12 months back.

Get onto the HR website, they list their resellers, they'll have them. Was recently quoted $140 for a 40mm hitch, ball and pin.

Apologies for thread dig: Can the four mounting bolts (which appear welded into the frame) be somehow moved around? The bolts dont line up with the holes on the bar as they sit currently. Cheers Jim

    Auto door lock question

It's trying to lock the doors, the sensors are saying the locks arent locking, and you're getting the horn warning that a door is unlocked. Just like you would if you got out and pressed the lock button on the key. If they're all closed (as you'd expect when you put it in D), its trying to...

    Bi-cy-cle

Slicks on the MTB is a great start. It saves you spending cash on a bike that you want dont want if you dont like riding that much. You want long rides? Dont buy a hard core race bike. It'll be a pain in the arse/shoulders/hips/knees/neck/wrists after about an hour. Slick MTB's work well...

brake lights not functioning - fuse and globe OK

Phreddy, andyman Yeah, I realised I'd popped the 15A under the dash once I thought about it. I should have been looking for Voltage. That sorted the outer lights, but the high mount is still out. Globe test for continuity, but I will run the Ohms tester and double check. Thanks for the...

brake lights not functioning - fuse and globe OK

I noticed this afternoon that my high stop light was not working. Got home and took the globe out, globe was OK. The other two were working OK at this stage. I used a piece of wood to hold the brake pedal in for 60 seconds while I tested the high stop light circuit for voltages with a...

    Tow bar install/cost

With those figures, I might keep my eye out for a cheap stock item someone might be offloading. I'm only going to be using it for pushies, the occasional trailer for trips away or carting stuff about. Wont be anything like a tonne, so the 1200kg standard will do me. Thanks. Jim

    Tow bar install/cost

The time has come for a tow bar to spoil the clean lines of the back end of my VY II. What sort of price were these as a factory fitted item on new cars? What sort of price should I expect from installers for aftermarket items? I'm figuring $270-350 for bar and install including plug and...

    Questions About Lowering

Then go someplace that will. There are companies that will insure you for the majority of properly-done suspension mods. My previous car was lowered an inch, bringing it to the minimum 100mm above the ground and it was insured with a Major Insurer for very little extra a year. <spray> I...

    VYexec VY sv6

Mate, kW aint all they're cracked up to be, judging by your last posts thats all you're after...no point having 200+kW at 6000RPM when you havent got the torque to get there quick enough. Gotta read them in conjunction with one another. Sure a V8 Supercar has 600BHP, but look at the torque...

    Average fuel burn per 100km

Depends where I run it and how long: Highway - best is about 9L/100km Town - 13-14L/100km The highway one drops if you dont run it in the sweet spot (about 1900RPM for my VYII V6, which is about 100-105km/h on the road). I did a 120km trip at 115km/h on sunday, and the best I got was...

How do you earn a crust?

Architect. But not the fun Matrix-style Architect or George Carlin version. Used to be a barman/waiter, did that for a couple of years, left it well behind. Reminds me of a joke: What did the engineering student say to the architecture student? "Would you like fries with that?"

Thoughts on power restricting laws etc...

You Victorians must like anonymous dobbing a lot? Hoon line...EPA...etc...etc... And I know you said it minux, call it a case of not reading thoroughly enough to make out your fine print. Showing up to finger the hoon would be kinda fun. "That's him yer honour, thats the young punk that...

Thoughts on power restricting laws etc...

I think the idea mentioned of a "Hoon Hotline" is a good one...but it'd be a b*stard to police. You'd get drunk mates ringing up dobbing in their buddies. Grannies calling up about everyone who drives on the speed limit when they do 40km/h, everywhere. Anyone who cuts anyone off in traffic...

    Vegemite banned in US

Some of the kids dont even have back yards cause their parents decided to build a McMansion on a postage stamp sized piece of land to show off how "wealthy" they are to the neighbours...grrrr...pet hate...sorry... But I love my vegemite. My 3 year old son eats it with a f*cking spoon!! Madman!

Whats the worst bathurst crash youve ever seen ???

I remember the Bathurst where the big Channel 9 Camaro ended up on its side coming into Reid Park and blocked the track. That was back in the good old days when you had three classes racing at once! Much respect to those poor Corolla drivers trying to tame the Mountain with big sixes...

Did you see the incar from Jack Perkins? Dude...no chance...not even Ayrton Senna would've gotten out of that accident. And yes, Mark Porter sadly died earlier. I wonder what people will say about the lack of run-off space at the mountain? I reckon its been building for a while though...

    Do springs wear out?

Short answer, yes they do. They'll lose elasticity (yes, steel has elasticity) over time, and start to sag, and stop rebounding effectively. Thats why there's an aftermarket for the things. Takes a long time though, and its not generally noticeable over that time, but if you replace old...

A quick spray at the NSW RTA

Perhaps my original intent got a little muddied, but the underlying feeling is right. Its a piece of metal. Its probably $1 worth. There's probably $15 labour. Once. They're not worth $60 a year. Maybe if you want something really out there like "W*NKER" or a really personalised plate...

A quick spray at the NSW RTA

I was lucky that I got my semi-personalised plates long before they bought this in (about 12 years!) but was trying to get some of a smiliar format for my wife, only to find the new fees. Maybe she should change her name to suit the ones we have? Whats a good womens name that starts with a Z...

At what age did you have kids? wats the youngest?

Just got back to work today from my leave and thought I'd follow this up: My wife had a girl, Scarlett, born 23 June 2006. RJR wheels (pics?)

Yeah, went with the 17's...got the Falken Ziex ZE329 235/45/R17 tires. Good deal at $160 each with the wheels. They may not be the heardest wearing tire, but even if I get 25000km out of them with me and my wife driving I'll be happy for that price.

    RJR wheels (pics?)

done and dusted...no more arguing... Well they're on. Thought about going to 18" but I decided that I'm not 21 any more and have other things to do with my money and ride quality. Now to just lower it a little and we're done. For now.

Had my son at 30 (a little late in my opinion but forces were against me), wife was 27. Second one (a girl so scans would have us believe) due any day now...about three weeks off turning 33. Love it.
