    Fly-By-Wire Throttle Complaints?

What I am trying to say is that if there was noticible lag, then you won't be able to do the heel & toe trick because the car will start rolling backwards before the revs can pick up enough to either support the car's weight or to pull off.

    Fly-By-Wire Throttle Complaints?

I do the heel&toe (manual box) thing when starting at a green traffic light on an incline. In other words, I let go of the break and press the throttle and let go of the clutch at the same time without rolling backwards. If there was any noticable lag in the fly by wire throttle, then this...

    premium unleaded

Every now and then I do a specific 330 km trip. (330 km one way). This includes some mountain passes etc. Usually I try to keep a constant 140km/h. (Not possible through some parts of the mountains though.) On 93 octane I used to get 12l/100km's. Since using 95 I get 10.3... Quite a...

    premium unleaded

The smaller the octane number in petrol the easier it is for the petrol to ignite under compression without a spark. If the octane rating is too low for a certain airpressure (oxygine desity. compare coast to mountains) the petrol will ignite in the piston when compressing before the spark is...

    VZ SS Fuel Consumption

I spend two hours a day in heavy traffic. My SS averages 14l/100km's. On long distance it somtimes comes down to under 10l/100km's. Stock car.

    2004 Chevrolet Lumina SS

It's not hard to mod cars in SA. Just very expensive. Lots of places mod "common" cars like VW's, BMW's, Mercs etc. But there are only a handfull of places that knows anything about the american V8's. (LS1, LS2, LS6,LS7 etc.) There is actually so much modding happening that one of the...

    SS vs SSZ -->fuel consumption

From my experience with other cars, the CAI, extractors free flow exhaust will result in better milage on a tank. I used to get more than a kilometer per litre extra on my Camry after I had this done.

    fuel cap coming loose :my:

One of the things that keep the cap closed is the internal (back) pressure that is in the petrol tank. This presses against the cap and causes it to sometimes be difficult to open. I wonder if your tank may have a problem keeping its internal pressure? Maybe someone coundn't open the cap...

    VZ Fuel Gauge Problem

At the last service I had them look at the fuel gauge problem. Apparently they "re-calibrated" it. Works perfectly now. It was in the middle of the red and I put 62 litres in. Ussualy it would only take 50 when at that point...

    SS Economy

    1. I am not sure if there are different gear ratios on different VZ SS's but where yours do 1750 rpm at 100kph, mine does 1750 rpm at 120kph. 2. When an engine is labouring during low revs, it will use more fuel than at slightly higher revs. Reason for this is that the engine burna fuel very...

    SS Economy

I heard an interesting bit on information regarding the manual SS. Apparently you should not drive it in 6th when traveling less than 130-140 kph. (The engine will be labouring to much since the revs are too low.) Driving in 5th at less than 140 should give you better fuel consumption...

VZ Trip Computer "Service Reminder" reset

I drive an export version of the VZ SS. (Sold in South Africa as the Chev Lumina SS.) For some reason the "Service Engine Oil" reminder also started showing. Would the engine service reset sequence work for this too?
