Mines got to go back AGAIN! Crashing has got worse since they supposedly replaced the MyLink, and bluetooth performance is just as bad if not worse. Even though the phone indicates it is connected, and the USB drive starts playing music, it takes AGES, (well over 10 minutes), until the phone...

The "latest" map updates are from March 2015. Even $100 is too much to pay for such outdated data. Send an email to Holden Customer care or ask your mate to apply a little pressure and you should be able to get them for free as many others have done.

My dealer called me to ask more about the bluetooth issues and the phone cut in and out a couple of times during the call. Holden are now going to swap out the MyLink system in my car with a new one.

LOL. I'm not one to hold back when a product doesn't fulfill it's intended purpose. You may be right, but it definitely SOUNDS like "Make a illegal U-Turn". I'll try to record it. i guess I'm spoilt and simply expect the system to work at least as well as the system in my previous Daily Driver...

That's nice, but they shouldn't be taking your money in the first place without advising you IN ADVANCE how old the maps are. I would happily fork out $126 for USEABLE maps and a MyLink system that actually functions as it should. Seriously - it suggests you go around in unnecessary loops to...

Email response from Consumer Affairs Victoria. Thank you for your email. I have noted your concerns regarding Holden's conduct, and Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) has lodged the information you have sent through against the trader within our database. CAV does not provide details about...

Although providing an already well out of date map update may help some a little, this doesn’t absolve Holden from their responsibilities to their customers. Holden doing nothing about correcting the misleading information on their website and providing dealers with accurate messaging in regard...

Personally i think it should be free for everyone. They have no right to charge this much for something this out of date. If they aren't at least providing this information to customers PRIOR to purchase it's misleading and bordering on criminal behaviour. Just tell them how old the supposedly...

Funny you should ask. Got a response about an hour ago: "Thank you for your response. I have escalated this matter to the management and passed on your feedback. Due to the relatively long map development period, it’s feasible that recent road system changes are not incorporated in a map...

Yes, I've already escalated to consumer affairs Victoria who were very interested in the forwarded email chain.

I expected up to 12 months old, but for the first, and only update after 4 years on the market to be over 2 years old is a bit much isn't it? It makes it worse that they don't disclose it up front.

    MyLink update?

Apparently, the "LATEST" map updates are actually from Q1 2015 and are already 2 years old. Still better than the at least 5 yo original versions, but be aware of what you are getting before you fork out any hard earned cash for this update... BTW there is another thread on this same topic...

I eventually got a reply from Holden Customer service regarding the Map Updates. Still no version numbers, but this is extremely disappointing. Dear XXX, Thank you for your patience. The MY17 map is a Q1 2015 map release version, which was released on March 2017. Yours sincerely, Priya V on...

I got notified last week via email by Holden Customer Service (Robert H) that a map update is now available and that I should book it in with my dealer. Problem is that they couldn't tell me anything about the part number, version, or date of the maps that are included and suggested that the...

Protesting on this forum will have little effect, but if we make a concerted effort at a group protest with a consistent message to all the state consumer affairs bodies and to Holden, (and HSV in some cases), we may be able to make some sort of impact. At the very least, we can hopefully...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

Thanks RoganJosh, I have spoken to my Holden dealer, who after initially telling me it was available, changed their minds after I had dropped the car off and said they had made a mistake, and that no updates were available. I agree that protesting on this forum will have little effect, but if...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

If RoganJosh was able to get the latest maps last year, why are Holden still holding off on releasing them to the public. It's absolutely ridiculous that they have sold all VF owners a GPS system with maps that are, for all intents and purposes, not updateable. (People circumventing the system...

Sunroof 2 button operation. Any logical reason why?

I figured that might be a problem because of the auto-closing feature. Oh, well. I guess I just have to get used to it. (Although I could live without the auto-closing as I often leave the sunroof tilted to allow the car to "air" when it's in the garage and pressing the "Start" button with one...

Sunroof 2 button operation. Any logical reason why?

I love a sunroof and have had one in every car I have owned since the early 90's. The VF Commodore however is the first and only one that has required 2 buttons to operate. Every other one I have owned has had a single button for tilt/slide operation which made a lot of sense and was much...

    Never meet your heroes!

I grew up loving many of the cars mentioned. KITT (For the technology really - I was such a geek - LOL) Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am. (mainly for the Firebird decal) General Lee - possibly more to do with Cousin Daisy. Christine (Chrysler Fury) - For the sound! A mate of mine sampled the...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

No charge to update the Maps or MyLink. I would not have agreed to paying to upgrade MyLink as the car is under warranty and MyLink is exhibiting faults and would definitely have fought tooth and nail if they had tried to charge me. I don't believe the Map update was done as they didn't call me...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

After following this thread, I expected to be be told they weren't available too. Let's wait and see if they actually do provide an update or if this was just a glib response from the guy booking in the service without any actual knowledge/facts behind it.

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

Yes. Me too. I was more concerned with the inability to advise when they were last updated. A lot of major road changes in Melbourne the last 2 years and happy to pay $180 if they are actually a recent update and not already 2 years old. A $100 odd annual subscription/charge for the latest maps...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

Car in for a service today and went through a short list of recalls and issues to be addressed and looked at, including MyLink, and i asked about Map updates and was quoted $180 for the "latest". I asked about the version number and the date of the update and was told "We'll call you"...

    LSA transplant...anyone done it?

It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. The OP hasn't qualified what base he was starting with, if any, and what outcome he's looking for? It's a very different project if you are trying to build a racer compared to building a powerful/practical road car. Optioning up an SV6, or...

    LSA transplant...anyone done it?

I don't know why anyone would bother with upgrading the engine from an SV6 unless you are planning on building a stripped out drag monster and want to start with the cheapest base. So much work and you still get a base interior and features with crappy resale value. (Interesting sleeper and...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

This could be just the way the OS recognises an attached USB device. I'm guessing it shows up when you have your Windows/Android phone that uses the MTP protocol connected via USB??? It may then display your phone as a "Windows Vista Certified Device" icon? "A USB mass storage or...

iTunes typically uses 192kbps by default and not usually more than 256kbps bit rate, whereas I rip all my stuff at 320kbps for better quality, (probably doesn't matter in the car, but it does at home - and I ain't re-ripping everything!) which will mean file sizes that are typically 1.6 x larger...

Do your issues extend as far as mine with the loss of other memory capacity and performance factors or primarily related to the initial indexing delay? I agree with you that it would be pretty dumb if it was traversing the folders each time rather than just creating/picking up a file. Could be...

Comprehensive Road Test Just for a Map Update?

This is good news except this part: "I understand it is an update you need to pay for." I get paying for a map update, and as long as it's priced accordingly, in line with current market expectations, this is not unreasonable, but if they try and charge me for a firmware/OS update to fix their...

    VF SS Music Questions

Folder depth doesn't seem to be an issue for me. Although I have a lot of folders, tracks are typically organised in my file structure as Genre/Artist/Album title, so nothing would be more than 4 levels deep, (Much less than the 8 the system supposedly supports), and it seems to find all the...

How big is your drive and how much music do you have on it? I didn't have any problems with the smaller 8gb drives I used before getting the 128. I suspect it has more to do with memory capacity rather than the brand of the drive.
