Don't get caught up in the old bigger is better with the headers when looking, have a read here of every part, http://www.streetquick.com.au/news/project-vf 1 3/4 good quality headers ie DPE/Walkinshaw would be more than sufficient for a NA street car.

Mate of mine has pretty much same setup as strattos on his director and he said exactly the same thing. Bimodal makes a good difference and worthwhile enough to install it to keep the noise down when required. I'll be doing the same. DPE big boy system has 3" 200 cell cats anyway. 3" mid section...

Anyone know what headers and exhaust systems independent motorsports use? They sound nice on the youtube vids ive seen.

I sent Automotive Lighting Customs a facebook message a couple of weeks ago. He replied saying all the remaining parts he needed to do it have now arrived he just needs to get around to making some. If a few people annoy him like i have it might move him along a bit faster ;)

Thanks for that Cuda. I might try the bi-modal relay back in and see how it goes. It may just be the fact I'm looking for a different note that i won't get with this setup. Or i wonder how walkinshaw mufflers would sound bolted on?....

@426Cuda have you tried any different mufflers with this setup? Got my HSV headers, 100 cell hi-flow cats and hsv mid section fitted up yesterday. Sounds pretty good with the bi-modal mufflers was just wondering what else people have tried and how it sounds.

Has anyone else noticed how black the inner outlet with the bi-modal actuator/flapper on each muffler gets really black and each outer one stays really clean? For reference, relay is pulled so bi-modal flapper is always open. Would have though both would then be the same colour...

Yep, will do. SS front bumper you will need the grill etc aswell. Same bonnet and guards.

Fit the SSV front bumper/grill etc to a calais? Not sure how much work/$'s is involved. We tossed up the idea of a shopping trolley for the wifey, really wanted the heated seats of the calais for our weather but she liked the look of the SSV-R wagon better, plus we have a calais (Director)...

Nice one cuda, out of interest do the 340 headers have a better port match to the heads than the stock cast ones? Good to know.

How did it sound after the addition of an "X" pipe?

Has the tuner "actually" done this change and compared the different cats and corresponding sound levels, like people on this forum have done? Or is he guessing and making an assumption? Alot of tuners will talk you out of certain mods because they have absolutely no experience in it and is not...

@426Cuda what cats exactly did you use?

Did you change the CAT's to a 200 or 100 cell? I think there is alot of nice sound and power to be had in changing the CAT's, that's my gut feeling anyway...

I personally will be looking at magnaflow 200 cell cats to go with my 340 headers and mid section, unless someone advises otherwise.

Awesome! Did you use the HSV cats aswell or go with 200 cell hiflow replacement? Apparently some good gains to be had in replacing the HSV cats too.

Got my R8 340 HSV headers and centre section sitting in the shed, need to pull my finger out and fit it up to our director. Whats are people thoughts on hi-flow cats? Was thinking of ditching the HSV cats that go with the headers and get custom made 200 call cats fitted. Wondering how it will...

Did it myself with some tips from a couple of blokes. I went with King's SL springs on all corners. Dropped it about 25-30mm all up. No issues at all with MRC. Can easily be returned to stock if need be so not bothered in the slightest about resale.

Love the look of ours after its been lowered, looked like a 4wd beforehand. Rides fine.

Yep lowered our director. Kings springs SL front and SL rear. Prefer just the SL in the back of ours, found it sagged too much in the back with SSL and didn't look in proportion to the front IMO.

I'd be keen for a nice set of 200 cell cats to use with these headers.
