    Holden Commodore Limited Edition models

Driving past I thought I saw a Director but didn't mention it as I was under the impression they were all sold out. The trick with Frankston (like Mornington Holden) is getting them to give you a price, they wouldn't give one to me when asked so I did what it seems everyone else has done, just...

    Holden Commodore Limited Edition models

I'm not surprised with these numbers when you consider the antics performed by some of the dealerships in relation to selling these cars. I drive past Frankston Holden and see most of there allocation still sitting in their yard (most colours) where as Brighton Holden, who had a substantially...

Interesting news re the proposal to use the Elizabeth plant to manufacture electric cars, great news for ex Holden employees if it gets the green light from GM, but then again they did knock back the previous proposal to sell the plant to that European fella who wanted to continue manufacturing...

G'Day Monstar, great to see some banter back on the site. The Ignition review you refer to (great review) did show the 2014 Reline was significantly faster around their circuit with the FE3 suspension (about 1.5 secs from memory) set up but the difference here is GM set their own MRC tune for...

Congratulations Stan, killer price and the rarest combination, one of 27 manual Nitrates I believe, great work. My dealer contacted me on Friday saying all their VF V8's were on a clearance sale including a couple of MSE's, nothing as cheap as 64K DA though.

Haven't really been away, just haven't had much to add, forum traffic has slowed down now everyone has their cars. What was the issue with the oil cooler and exhaust manifold? My beast is doing just fine, thanks for asking. Love driving it, its a blast, especially in relation to the throttle...

    Holden Commodore Limited Edition models

G'day Cuda, well done, it is a good read but still waiting on someone to do a proper road test on one/all of the LE's. Saw my first MSE on the road today, Spitfire, on the back of a trailer with its production line stickers on it. I expect that's probably as close to being driven as that...

Thanks Monstar, another tail of woe possibly perpertraited by those who can make some financial gain out of it. I'm often surprised how automotive after-market companies know more about engine/component design than the engineers at GM/Ford etc who are paid specialists in their area and do...

Hi 3rspecB, yes, forgot about the lower diff ratio. Holden did the Nurburgring with the VF1 but pretty sure they went back with the VF2 to try and better their time, which they did, there's a video somewhere but can't find it now.

Sorry panhead, only got the 240 from the Holden promo footage down the straight where driver states 240 in 4th. They use to state max speed in each gear in manuals, but that was in the good old days. Watched footage of VF2 ute breaking world record (for ute) around Nurburgring, would have been...

Very Nice Professor, the nitrate and red looks fantastic in the sun;). They are a hoot to drive as you now know. And so many SC kits available both here and in the US, the natural evolution option for the LS3:D

    Holden Commodore Limited Edition models

I was thinking along the same lines Professor re clutch with the added possibility that as the engines are manufactured in the US would rust protection be applied to the flywheel prior to crating and shipping. The fly wheel is machined CI or steel and needs to be protected. Just a thought, if...

Hi Super Coach, thanks for the follow up. Interesting you mention your car only shudders when entering your property which leeds me to ask the question, is your driveway on a grade. The only time my car shudders is when I'm going up my driveway which on a reasonable uphill grade. Going up...

Hey Professor, not enough poke in your MSE for you? Might be worthwhile having a read of this if considering cam upgrades; http://www.hotrod.com/articles/hrdp-1007-gms-variable-valve-timing-system-performance-test/ ignore the reference to an engine being an air pump, its a too commonly used...

I'd be interested to hear the outcome of that Super Coach, sounds a bit like a sticky clutch plate. You could try a couple of 3rd gear starts with a few revs to see if that makes any difference. Does the notchy initial 1st/reverse gear selection ease up after a minute or two of driving and can...

    Holden Commodore Limited Edition models

G'day EternityDre, I've noticed the same thing, a bit notchy from 1st to 2nd for the first couple of minutes/changes as though the oil has drained from the shift mechanisim. I don't get any noise, just extra effort to change. When you say grinding, do you mean the actual gears are grinding as...

Really sorry to hear how things turned out for you Cuda, needless to say we would all be outragged if that happened to any of us. Holden went to considerable effort to make this buying experience special, I feel pretty confident you know how to handle this. Some attention may need to be placed...

BOM says 40% chance of showers in afternoon with Possible hail, you'll be right. Early next week for delivery, that's BS. If the dealership has engaged the transport company you should get a phone number off them. Is it possible its a multi car transporter and they're waiting until they have...

Don't forget the change in the diff ratio macman, that will play a significant part in getting off the line quicker. Considering these cars are speed limited and that limit can be reached in 4th gear, further increasing the diff ratio from 3.73 (manual) to 3.9X seems like a reasonable, cost...

G'day EternityDre, yes the Great Ocean Rd is fab, had my fair share of fun along there over the years. Plenty of good Rd's out the back too, Chum Creek Rd to Toolangi and the Warburton Cumberland Junc Marysville route is always a classic. TBH I knew I would have time constraints when I ordered...

That would have to be yours wouldn't it? bit of a coincidence, I suppose the big question is did it have the hood decal, if so it would have to be your green dream, as opposed to, but closely aligned with the other type of dream:rolleyes: My car is just ace, thanks for asking, love it to bits...

Hi SherKahn, when you say bonnet decal are you talking about the optional hood "power decal" if so this isn't an issue as these are fitted via the dealership, the rear wing is an entirely different storey though, as has been mentioned it is a different (reinforced) boot lid. Make sure you...

Yes I know, I guess that's what you call after sales service.....Not! Was in the contract so car was on order for 5 months, in PD for over a week and now its 5 weeks since I picked it up and today I'm told they haven't heard back from the clowns they use to stick them on, maybe I'm a little...

That is a truck load (pardon the pun) of damage to a car strapped/chained to the deck of a transporter, it appears to have had a huge sideways impact through the rear axle, entire chassis has been twisted as shown by the deformed rear drivers side door. Not much left on that worth salvaging, ouch!

Sideways into the wall? looks like a track day gone wrong, tyre marks on the front bumper. At least it still has its QC sticker still on the back window.

G'Day 3rspecB, interesting issue with the wheel but there is only one solution, it needs to be replaced with a matching one. Wheels are available but are currently hard to obtain due to production run. Speaking to spare parts at the dealership I went through and they had ordered a full spare...

Yes I'd imagine they're sort after, not really sure why the sales rep notified me about it but anyway, thought I'd mention it here, it's a manual as well. Life goes on whilst perspective owners wait for their LE's to be built, unfortunately it doesn't always head in the direction we'd like...

To be honest Sabbath the stig gets on a Holden enthusiast site and his opening comment is "You can't actually believe that a car that looks like it is designed by a crayon wielding colour blind 3 year old, corners like a baby giraffe, produces only 49kW per litre and has a 6 speed slushbox...

Hi RedMSE, now that is a monumental stuff up by the dealership. The problem is the build number plate is bonded to the inner skirt, you wouldn't be able to remove it without destroying it and probably doing some damage to the skirt. I'd expect you'd still be able to get a red MSE but I'd be...

Hi Cuda, what have you read about the ZL1? As you're probably aware the issue is getting rims over the brembo's, you can get them but you're limited in what's available. The other issue is getting 255's under the front guards, there isn't a lot of room with the 245's so you'd need to take some...
