We need to buy the Mrs a new car after her cars engine expired for good, looking at a new CX30 thanks to proceeds of the VF2 redline sale then mine will be garaged and covered and become a “dry Sunday arvo” drive car when i want listen to some rumble !!

Mines a MY15 redline and have had it since new , 97,000ks and only 20,000 on the engine since i had it “built” and im keeping it forever, irreplaceable in my book and such a pleasure to drive, unfortunately i had to sell my VF2 manual redline in February i had in storage only had 5,500ks on it

Whistling could be a vaccum leak, as Dassaur said take the cover off and check all the hoses

I’d love one of JRE dipsticks as well, to costly to land one here though, i don’t believe anyone here in Aust. does them. There also suitable for the 6L80 deep sump trans pan upgrade with fluid level

The storage facility i kept my VF2 redline had an L34 there with HDT history from Perth, apparently it was HDT’s company car for Brock, Harvey or Firth whenever they were over there. Engine code L34 on the ID plate, no radio or console just the gear stick on the floor, ah well better get another...

Yeah i had one to for over 10 years, 1977 LX 4.2 auto, put a 308 manifold on it with good ol Qjet on it set up nicely on the dyno, what a fun car to drive it was, hate to think what there worth now

Correct 340 was much better than the 360, memory is vague but there were Plymouth Barracudas which were a very heavy unit doing sub 14’s back in the day

Reality is we don’t have “very cold starts” in Australia, not like its minus 20 here like the northern USA

I’ve been running Castrol 10W60 as well since my engine build, engine builder recommends it on all their builds.

Yes it was Corse + i ran it my 350 SB in the ski boat , i reckon it was a real good oil

Definitely go with 5W/40 and see how that goes if you still get oil light the 10W/50 won’t hurt

I had an OEM external cooler fitted, they added 500mil to the system

My excuse for getting a rebuild with a stroker kit was piston slap, solved the piston clap completely and the bonus was s@#tload more torque right through the rev range, win win in my book !!
