The coolant temp was 94 when i got to work this morn after 45min drive...it was between movijg up and down between 82&86 for most the drive but gotnup to 94. Let it ilde for abit and it dropped down to 87 & 89... Maybe im stressing over nothing...

Stock tune..the temp im going offis the oil temp on the centre dash... Volts will be 14.6 at start up and usually drops down to 12.8. It jumps up after driving for a bit. Thats how these alternator work right? Performance and economy seem fine..

Ok so i should mention its a 2008 ve ssv ute. Ive had it for 4.5 hrs ive had no trouble at all till past month alternator now this issue.. replaced battery 2-3yrs ago..its been very reliable till now I have an dual 3inch cat back and otr but i installed that myself 4 yrs ago, exhaust was done...

So took it to holden this morn. They say its the alternator and want $1300 to install a new one..i said no thanks... Just ordered a brand new one from holmart for $299..goes to show holden dealers and prob most mechanics are just after money..

So its still happening kicked in and out this morning to work after about 15min it stayed up at 13.9 for last 20mins of driving and warning stayed off...i booked it into holden for Thursday and they want $165hr to look at it..personally i think that's way to much..but i guess it has to...

Im having the same issue..can i ask where u bought the aftermarket alternator? If it was the same part number it should have been fine right? I got quoted 950 forca brand new one or 150 for a refurbished one

So was it the alternator? Im having same issue for a week now...no one ever does follow ups...be good to know if new alternator fixed it as ive heard it could be the computer playing up

Ah yeh im sure how to do that. Do i hook a multimeter up to this wires? L is red yeh and F is grey? I just started it and everything was fine, 14volts. Load tested it, everything was still fine. Left it idling for 15mins. Alt wanring come on, volts dropped to 11.8 so i turned everything on high...

Not quite sure what you mean, how do i figure that out? Do you mean find out how the alt works?

I might add ive had my ute for almost 5 years now and havent had a single problem apart from a dead battery which i replaced prob 3 yrs ago..

Yeah well i went to the shops before and the alternator warning came on and volts went down to 12 and stayed there. Started it up when i left and it went upto 14.7 and stayed at 13.9 till i got home..it happens randomly almost every time i drive

Hey everyone i have a 2008 ssv ute, the past week the alternator warning has come up on my display while driving, when this happens i notice the voltage drops. I'll watch it go from 13 down to 12. It'll eventually go back up to 14volts or higher and the warning will disappear..its has now done...
