I mounted the left hand crossover behind the small plastic panel on the end of the dashboard. The right hand one is just behind the fuse cover panel at the top. Both reasonably easy to mount and get to. Also the tweeters in the original location. Easy to get to and sounds great.

The only thing I find with my setup (Pioneer 6x9s plus Jaycar splits off Pioneer HU) is that I have to fade towards the front. The 6x9s are pretty loud straight off the HU so if you amp them and not the fronts, I guess they will be even louder at the back. I would probably do it the other way round.

I usually take the rings off and throw it in the glove box. Makes a useful tray for coins, mobile, and other crap. If you have a drink, just pop the rings back on. Too easy.

Ok, so a bit of plastic cutting/filing. What about the door itself. Any probs mounting the speaker in the hole? I saw a thread that suggested taking a hammer to the door. The magnets look quite big on the 6.5s. Maybe I should look for a 6" and separate tweeter and splitter.

I am up to phase 2 of my upgrade which is to replace the front speakers. The Jaycar splits look to be highly recommended for the money, but I just want to be sure the 6.5" speakers will fit in the doors of a VT without major surgery.
