    Buying a VZ

Over the last 12 months Im pretty sure ive seen the standard VZ utes with air cond going for $23888 or $24888 brand new in Sydney. Sometimes Holden had a special with free on roads (excluding dealer delivery) ............ or if the local dealer had a bit of a special on they were a good buy...

    UHF Mounting / Install

I got mine from Andrews Communications in Greystanes, Sydney. They have a web site but probably dont have every model antenna on their site. They also have a small range of 2nd hand gear. Before you buy a Uniden remote head, at least have a look at the GME range and compare prices. The GME...

    UHF Mounting / Install

EDIT 10.10.07 - removed some of the photos so the whole world doesnt know what my car looks like as its too easily identifyable ! PM me if you want links to the pics :) In terms of UHF CB. Uniden and I think GME make radios with remote heads, these are HEAPS easier to install as space is...

    Biggest Battery for VZ

OK, i did some research on the 'net and found that these batteries with "calcium" do handle a higher charge voltage better we they gas less and have less water loss = longer life basically. They also self discharge slower meaning less flat batteries on imported cars coming off ships they claim...

    Biggest Battery for VZ

Thats a VERY INTERESTING COMMENT you make Ronald. Thankyou for raising it. I think I might investigate (google) futher over the weekend. I have always wondered why they use the different materials. Id be dissapointed if I have to take my new battery out and go back down to the standard size...

    Biggest Battery for VZ

Hi Guys Ive just fitted a new battery to my V6 ute and thought id post up what I found to help others. (sorry for the long post, I'll explain my process) I was running the original battery for 2 1/2 years and 50K's with no problems but i normally replace my batteries every 2-3 years to err on...

    VZ SS ute

This info may help a little. Ive got a fully standard VZ Storm (basically a V6 S Pack) with the factory 1600kg tow pack. My March 2005 Holden Ute brochure says the ground clearance on the S is 115cm and the SS 105mm (so it sits approx 10mm lower all around I would assume) The top of my...

    New Tyres on SV6

KayM@rt in Sydney has them for $319 currently, so i figured that i did ok  I didnt want to go thru what you did and get something cheaper... and then end up unhappy. It might have been a $800 mistake if id bought $200 tyres that i didnt like. Good that your mate runs the shop coz...

    New Tyres on SV6

I know this is a old thread .... i knew it was here somewhere so I thought id dig it out and add to it. I just got new tyres fitted. I ended up going for the original Bridgestone RE030s in 235/45R17 $284 each fitted and balanced including disposal of the old tyres at a Bridgestone Tyre...

    Boot Struts Failed already!!!!

Do you have a aftermarket spoiler ? They make the boot heavier and the standard struts will probably die sooner. This happened in my dads VS and he replaced them with SS struts that are meant to be designed for the extra weight. cheers Rod

Installing Oil Pressure and Volt Guages.....Anyone know how ?????

To get thru the fire wall, mine had a whole 20-25mm spare grommet. If you look on left hand side, up behind the glove box. And then look underneath the horn in the engine bay, you should see it. Its just a black round gromment. You might need to take the glove box out to help.

    vz ute traction problems

Maybe you need to stop dropping the clutch ? I assume you have a LSD in yours. They are meant to have proper LSD diff oil in them (which i assume the factory would automatically do) and also a friction modifier additive/compound as far as i know. It basically lets it slip a little to stop...

    SV6 and Towing a Car

There is a thing called GCM - gross combination mass The combined weight of the car, its occupants and trailer cannot exceed a certain figure. So you probably cannot tow 2000kg and have 5 persons and luggage in the car. Not sure on the exact figure for a SV6, should be in the manual or...

    SV6 and Towing a Car

I tow a 1500kg boat with my 175kw VZ ute. The factory clutch isnt really the best, but does the job. Just becuase you dont have a boat ramp to contend with, you still have hill starts at traffic lights etc to worry about. A few trips a year wont wear out the clutch. Just try and reduce the...

    VZ SV6 tyres

I agree 100% mate. Im very impressed they are so good for a OEM tyre. I was expecting some cheapies ! I'll SERIOUSLY consider putting them on again when the time comes. I know they are expensive, but id kick myself if i got the Dunlop 3000's to save a few dollars and then end up hating them

    VZ SV6 tyres

Gday Tom Your 1 st post ? Welcome to the site. Ive got a April 05 VZ ute with the same rubber on it. Ive done around 26K and im very happy with the tyres so far. I have heard that they are expensive. Some other forums have spoken very highly of the Dunlop SP3000A .... i think thats what...

    Oil for my Alloytec??

ive got the 175kw ive been using the local holden dealer and my local mechanical workshop Holden are using Castrol Magnetic. I think is 10/30 and its a slightly different grade to what you get at Kmart etc The local guy is using Havoline Plus 10/30 Like the others said, dont go fully...

What did you pay for your Service?

Holden would re-gas the air con if it needed it and charge you a bucket i would think. (and hopefully ring for approval from the owner b4 doing it) Its not covered in the normal service charge.

    Tonneau Cover

My April 05 build Storm does not have any logos or "lion" on it. Its plain black. Other VZ Storms i have seen also have the standard black cover. I think the VY Storms have the logo. I looked at a VY Storm in HotHouse Green (or it might have been that lime yellow) and it had a Holden Lion...

What did you pay for your Service?

SS16 i hear you loud and clear !!!! I think that a local regular mechanic is the way to go .... cheaper and you know they do a honest job on your car. Id like to take it to my local mechanic, but under warranty i dont want to have any dramas. I know that any "qualified" mechanic can stamp...

    HBD Brakes

    premium unleaded

I run premium 90% of the time. Mine seems to like BP Ultimate 98 the most. I experimented with the new Shell 100 from Surfers to Sydney and then 5 more tanks around town and it doesnt seem any better. Only a Dyno can give the true advantages ! Sometime i reckon its all in the mind. Do i...

    VZ Fuel Gauge Problem

I dont think that they can fix the up hill and down hill issue. My ute has that problem too. I get a low fuel warning (on flat ground) after using about 48L from the so called 70L tank. One time i was driving nice and steady thru the suburbs and it was showing less than 20Km to empty and i...

Dash Warning: "Service Engine Oil" - Anyone else had it?

Id be worried about that. I assume that you had a oil change done at 15000km. You shouldn't use that much oil in a new car over 10K kms. (i dunno what consumption Holden considers normal thou) Unless you checked it on a uneven surface, the last mechanic didnt fill it enough or didnt let it...
