Yeah, i can use the tech2 to change the options, but im curious if there are hidden options that don't show up. I.e in this case having a 6l80e option for trans. if it doesnt have it could we load in a calibration that does. almost like a custom flash.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

Kinda back to topic. If your wanting to go down the paddle shift path on the VZ steering wheels. You can re-use the original steering wheel, u just need to use a drill bit to cut the foam away from where the hole is that the threaded bolt goes in that holds the paddles. VY steering wheels do...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

Yeah that makes sense, because it's likely changed the ABS broadcast settings it was probably listening for/to the E40. I think it boils down to the difference between a Manual/Auto car is that an auto can still perform an up/down shift, where as the ABS will communicate to tell the auto to...

I use a pwm controlled setup in a few of my cars, doesn't use a pressure sensor for feedback. just uses the map signal to control voltage. I still run a base 60psi on the reg, but the pumps will only run at 9v and then it ramps it up manifold pressure goes up. but the simple switching of the...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

yeah, even going back to the E40 code is similar to came afterwards. Biggest difference was processor type. in the ecu there are ton of switches (options), & a there is a value for transmission type, but it's generally noted as just a number for a type or transmission. I'd be curious to know...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

There is another forum a few of us go into more in depth detail on this stuff. I'm certainly not going to claim to be the originator of a lot this information. Couple guys posted clues or mentioned something they were looking into & I thought. I wonder if that will help me doing this...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

id have to take a look at the binary file of 1 to be 100% certain, but i'd imagine they would be the same if it's the same series/model. Technically the modules transmit on multiple can ID's, but the 1's i mentioned before are specifically used for the "state of health monitoring". On the...

Don't think thats something that Jason's program can do. That'll be the ECU tune & TAC calibration. I know Justin @ Ultimate Wiring Harnesses has made something up for the vz ls1 pedals.

Haven't seen you post this anywhere else yet. Very nice. I might need to touch base about the VZ EBCM programming options soon. ;-)

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

your abs issue with would also stem from the broadcast address used, looks like in the e40 it's listening on CAN ID 2F9, but the E38 is 2F0. It changes again for the VE & later models. Now while you can probably satisfy the ecu to listen for the ABS data. I'm not sure if the ABS module would be...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I think i know why the oil temp doesnt work. there is more then 1 switch/parameter. There is the 1 that hpt/efilive show that gives u the option for calculated, or sensor based, but there is another that switches between gearbox & engine oil temp, then there is another table for the sensor...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

i thought about the ebcm issue a bit more, highly likely the dash has no care in the world since it's only on the UART data network. So will just be the pim being setup as having the 5l40. With any luck there is similar adjustment options in the ebcm programming to make it happy again. I do know...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

technically at the moment, on the conversion dummy. it has the trac off displayed on the dash because it's registering a configuration mismatch error in the ebcm. I suspect because the dash & pim has been changed to tell it has a 5l40e that is causing it. I ran out of time to test if changing...

Mods on my vt s1 v6 6 speed auto exe. wagon

wasn't sure if it was an off the shelf adapter. I reckon it's probably more worth while to do a newer one for a 6l80 especially for anyone that has a modified v6. I look at it that if you are going to spend the money going down this route might as well start with the a box that's already rated...

Mods on my vt s1 v6 6 speed auto exe. wagon

Hey mate, do you have a design of the adapter plate your willing to share or have somewhere to purchase from, had some1 ask about doing it for their turbo v6.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

Didn't have to do anything to the dash it just worked straight out. I'm guessing the code is already there for the gears. I suspect they were doing powertrain testing of the VE stuff in the VY/VZ chassis so would make more sense as to why it just works. I've also managed to get a newer 2011...

was out most of the day, but did manage to wire in the reverse relay in kick panel. tested and working.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

To add the reverse relay to the VZ SS is not hard, they already have the 12v ign power & 12v out to lights coming from the white plug in passenger kick panel, so it's just a matter of running the reverse trigger gnd from the pim to that area, which for me is the same area for the tapshift.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

yep. paddles are wired direct to the box tcm. Just need to have the correct settings in the tcm tune. I already do that for my own cars/customers in conversions. It's called hardwiring & was used on the corvette platforms too.

    Vz R8 Clubsport manuel conversion

vz hsv is an ls2 running an e40 ecu. that harness is for standalone e38. will be waste of money. Neither the 5.7 or 6lt engine harness is anywhere close to a compatible replacement. Either get a manual harness (if u can find 1) or pull the original harness off & get it modified to run as a...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I've replaced the 4l65e/t42 controller with a 6l80e, i did a quick/nasty wire in job for the 6l by tapping into the relevant pins in the old t42 controller plug, 1 wire direct to the ecu for the neutral safety. Bunch of changes in ECM/TCM. Dash is happy, trans shifts through the gears. I'll...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

doesnt really matter what shifter u use, if anything using the ve/vf shifter makes it harder. the vz paddles have the correct resisters built in. During my testing i tried changing the programming in the dash cluster & pim to the 5l40e, changing the dash just changes to match what the 5 speed...
  23. T

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

ve & vf shifter do it via bcm which sends it out over the can. the vz paddles are direct wired to the trans controller. i'll take a look at the tcm code to see if any of the instructions are similar to the t43/6l80e controller in case it's a switch that is not turned on, but i wont spend too...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

so the active select wire does trigger & can be monitored via tech2 pim. quick short to gnd to active/deactivate. however tapshift still isn't working. I can see the trans is seeing the up/down paddles working, it's just ignoring them. tried all the options in hpt/efilive with no luck. it's...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

yeah i knew what he meant. just taking a look now. looks like there is no wire in pin5 of the pim module. so i put a wire on and touched it to ground, nothing come up on the dash. I'll run my 2new wires for the tapshift control to see if i can get it to activate without touching the tcm tune...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

i didnt get a chance to test this today, was finishing up a cam change. I did however finish confirming the wiring on to the vz clock spring to paddle shifter. There is no wire in the body side for the tapshift on the v8, i kind of already knew this when i did a mates vz clubsport years ago.
  27. T

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

it's probably just a toggled short to gnd button vs a momentary. i might have a play with it later today.
  28. T

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

the d3, d5 stuff is actually specific to the calibration used in the trans as to what it thinks the shift detents are. I'd have to look for one of the active select buttons to see what it's wired into, It would have to be the PIM, but IMO it makes more sense to pull the shifter back for TAP...

    VZ SS L98 Ute

it was the new emissions that started in jan 2006 which is why holden had to change over to the engine in the ve, they had already done all the emissions work in the tune.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I'll give it a test on my VZ project car im converting to 6l80e. I've already installed the tapshift wheel in preparation. I'll do a writeup on my website for this project eventually...
