Sure, just make it one of those retunable/ springloaded switches that you have to keep your finger on. You don't want to accidently leave the switch in the closed position, not sure of possible effects but new codes won't register if switch is in closed position.

Not unusual according to a boot and bonnet strut guy I ran into not long ago. He suggested after looking at my boot brackets, that before mine go, screw or bolt them into the shelf saving hassles later. The spot weld alone can't stand the stress. Also need spoiler struts myself.

re; reverse lights Same prob. here. I move bar toward neutral and reverse lights come on. Probably switch needs adj. or someth.

Is it parked on a slope or is the parking position temporarily twisting your chassis. Try parking on level ground if so. Was the car level when you popped it before buying.
