    308 blue / black EGR ???

The EGR Valve is (Exhaust Gas recycling Valve) a connection between the Exhaust and the inlet manifold. (Simple explanation) Talk to your Mechanic. If you have extractors fitted to the motor, check to see if there is a blanked off port. Some extractors are made without this feature. You may...

Hi, Are you close to Melbourne in Victoria. To answer the question of the gearbox. The V8 gearbox is longer from the flywheel to the back of the bellhousing. The input shaft on the v8 manual is longer than the 6 cyl. one, to fit the bigger clutch. If you really need to fit the V8 motor you...

    My VK V6 Conversion finished!

Hi, Looks great. Like it came out of GM, just the way it is. Forget the V6 badge it'll just make you a target. Just keep 'em guessin'. Looks like it will make a great cruiser. Seriously did you upgrade the front brakes at all, or are they just the standard ones off the VN?

    stripped dizzy gear

Just red this today. If your set on using a metal gear, go the brass one. The brass ones are softer than the steel and will wear without harming the camshaft. Just like the nylon ones. If the distributor is set properly no-one should have a problem. If you overheated the motor that may...

Agree with you about seats. Are you off loading the seats you're pulling out. If so how much?

You could do that, or. How 'bout taking it to an engineering shop and having Bigger valves and seats than standard put in. The bigger the hole the more you can get through it!

how to fix a scratched windscreen

It's called jewellers' rouge. It's the paste they use to polish gemstones. Available from most Glazier's and Gemstone (Lapidary) suppliers. Hope you fixed the problem.

how to fix a scratched windscreen

It's called jeweller's rouge. It's the paste they use when polishing gemstones. You should be able to get it from a glazier or a lapidary supplies (gemstone stuff) store. Polishes glass and chrome, real well.

    Axel assembly replacement

Anyone help with the specs. on the Salisbury with the 10 bolt pan. My VK is going to get rear discs soon and I don't want a big surprize when I get all the bits and find I have the wrong ones. I'm hoping to find a Calais at the wreckers but knowing my success lately that probably won't happen...

Signs Aussie car makers aren't facing reality...

Yes Ryan, there is a supercharged V6 Commodore, You might have to buy it from a second hand car yard though. You want to talk environmentally friendly. There's a Hydrogen generator been developed in the good ol' US of A. It bleeds hydrogen gas into the throttle body of the motor. It doesn't...

    Vehicle Modifications

Just think. The ADR'S, they're those things that gave us rear bumper tail lights on Four wheel drives. Everybody watches the ones you can see on the back of the 4wd in front of them don't they, they're at eye height and can't be missed. The ones that are working are down out of sight almost...

    over two years

Before you have the motor started and while you are checking the plugs, squirt a little oil into each cylinder, new plugs and points(depending on the motor type) wouldn't hurt but are not a must have. Also give it an oil change to drain out all the c**p and condensation that has gathered inside...

    neutral at every corner

Just a thought, you say that you had it backfire on you. Is the Holley the one with the valve in the side that ruptures when it gets a backfire through the carby. (thinking of the 350Holley) That won't help if it has happened.

    vt manual antenna replacement

There's a thread on how to wire up an Aepro auto antenna recently here somewhere have a look around. You can also get replacement mast and rope to put into them if you get too friendly with the scenery (got my replacement mast from Repco for $30.) I think you can buy the whole aerial and...

    Brake /cyl. 1 inch

The m/cyl. was new. Brake test yesterday gave a result of 0.77g. It was still fitted with drum brakes on the rear too. Tester says improve the back brakes just a little bit and it will be frightening. (Disc rear end coming up soon hopefully.) All but the M/cyl. thanks to Mr. SPARES. M/cyl...

Vt V6 hissing sound under light throttle

Can you only hear this noise whilst the bonnet is up and your in or around the motor. Or is it louder when your sitting in the driver's seat, or much louder if you get out of the driver's seat and then stick your head in under the dash near the brake pedal. If it's coming from under the dash...

    Brake /cyl. 1 inch

Ok, Here's the story so far. Got the 1" master cyl. (PBR for VK), got VT calipers, got 298mm vented and slotted discs for front (VS-VT clubbie discs I think), got billet hubs complete with new bearings and seals so I can fit discs and calipers, got QFM large VT pads. The master cyl. fitted...

    Auto to Manual Conversion.

The Auto flex plate is very thin and the torque conv. bolts up to it. The manual gearbox flywheel (Not flex plate) has the clutch assembly bolted to it and you have to guide the gearbox input shaft through it very carefully when you assemble them. Both are bolted to the end of the crankshaft in...

    VH Battery overheating (boiling!)

This time keep the receipt for the work done and if it doesn't get fixed and stay fixed. Keep taking it back until it is. A good Auto Elec. should be able to take a good look and tell you exactly what needs to be done. If the person fixing it is at all doubtful or says that they are just...

Spacers between center bearing mounts to reduce takeoff vibration

You haven't re-assembled the tailshaft 90 degrees out have you. You did mark the tail-shaft, before you pulled it apart. So that when you put it back together it was all lined up as from the factory.

    VK Factory Stereo

    interior light (vl)

The screws that hold the light in the roof usually have a small plastic washer so they don't earth out the light all the time. You might need to put another plastic washer behind the light where you are putting the mounting screw through it as well as the one on the screwhead. This insulates...

    Running in oil??

When your driving around don't just sit on a constant speed for the zone your in. Vary the speed a bit and try and pick some hilly country to drive around in. The up hill grades are a great help, just like towing a trailer of sand. Just don't let it get too low in revs and struggle on the up...

    Problem with VK berlina

Find a decent mechanic and be guided by him. SAACC should be able to tell you if there is one of their members in your area. If he's a member of the Sth Aust. Auto Chamb. of Commerce he drags them down if he's no good and they don't like that. They should help even if they just give you a...

    urgent vk problem

Have you connected the heavy cable to the starter and the battery terminal? If the reay is throwing out the starter drive gear, but it's not spinning, the starter motor isn't getting any power to make it work. OR the high current terminals in the starter solenoid are burnt and not contacting...

    Tacho Dash

In a VK the tacho wire from the coil is in the round shaped connector for the dash cluster. It all just plugs together and works. The Berlina dash has the extra connecting pin that allows the tacho to get it's signal. The L & SL model dash circuit boards do not have the pin for the tacho. If...

    VK diff drum to disc?

There's a 5mm spacer on the disc brake axle between the drive flange and the oil seal and bearing, that's not on the drum brake axle. You have to have the spacer if your running discs. The axle is the same for both drum and disc, provided you use the axle that is correct for the diff. you...

    VH Battery overheating (boiling!)

I know it's a bit late now but is the battery big enough (550 cca. or bigger). Is the Alternator a high output one. If you've got a really big alternator pumping out lot's of juice and the regulator is dodgy, and only a little battery to catch it in, the battery is going to get real excited.

    Tacho Dash

If you look at the dash cluster and compare the opening where the clock is it might be a different size. If you have the small clock face (square one) and the fascia you put back on the front of the dash cluster has a wide opening for the clock, you will have holes either side of the clock...

    VK diff drum to disc?

VK Calais had a disc brake rear didn't it? If you can find one of them and the Diff housing is the same, just pull the bits you want and swap them onto your car axle and all. The disc is the same from VK to VP for the rear brakes (some one is sure to correct me if I'm wrong.). The calipers...

"VK" swapping LH front seat to RH front rails

It's best to find a motor trimmer to do what you want done here. The cushion part of the seat undoes around the bottom where the seat bolts down onto the height adjuster and runners that give you the movement up to and away from the steering wheel. the back of the seat undoes across the...

    Tacho Dash

Your right again scummy, I did it myself recently. If you already have a dash with the tacho in it, that's the the one you use. Be prepared to swap the clock in the middle as well (VK dash) as the speedo (it's dead simple to do once you get inside the dash cluster), because they have two faces...
