    VN/VP Intake Restrictor

The bellmouth has been done to death dude, a search is your friend. And yea, 3000rpm for 10 seconds resets your IAC valve. No tacho? How quickly can you count?

trouble with lowering vn please help

Well, thats the first step. The new rod should come with bushes etc, make sure they are greased properly before you install the rod. You'll then need to adjust it to center the diff. Some of them are 'on car' adjustable which is alot easier, you can crank them to the correct setting without...

trouble with lowering vn please help

Have you just installed springs and nothing else? Did you install an adjustable panhard rod and shorter shocks? The stock panhard rod will now be too long so an adjustable number is required to center the diff. Without it the car will crab. For that matter have you got some shorter shocks to...

    New year harmonics are unbalanced

Hey all, happy new years and so on and so forth. I'm out of town at the moment and the GTS has decided it's a great time to ruin my holiday and eat her harmonic balancer. I've sorted a lift back to Auckland where my tools are, but it's a pretty crap time of year for buying parts - question is...

    Power Steering Pump Removal/Installation VN/VP

I'd imagine its a good thing it snapped when it did mate, if it were to give whilst you were driving you'd cook the pump at very least if not the rack as well. But I do feel your pain.

    vl executive preferred oil.

Agreed. If your only round the 100k mark, then 15w40 would be ideal.

Half a litre here and there won't hurt. Just don't make a habit of it.

    Knowing your battery

Just be sure it has a bit of ventilation. Charging causes hydrogen gas to be produced, which as you might imagine is a little hazardous.

    Leak from engine

Yep, ususal story. But if crack it out yourself, all you'll need is a new pump, and if you shop around you'll be able to get one for $80 to $100.

    Leak from engine

Waterpump. Either the gasket or the bearing. In either case, the pump needs to come off. Once you have the belt and pulley off, you'll be able to see where on the pump the leak is. If it is the bearing, then you'll need to replace the pump, which is an easy task. If its the gasket, which frankly...

where to run the cold air intake???

Yep thats what he means, with the mouth that opens up over the radiator. Unless your prepared to get the sheet metal and mig welder out, they are far and away one of the better and cheaper/easier options. Next question?

can i leave my air intake off????

Eagle Airways, but as a Pilot not an engineer. What kind of turbine are you looking into? There will be easier ones to manage than a PT6.

Was at 40k a year, but will be back to around 20k now that i'm back in AKL.

    Do I have worn valves?

Sweet, always good to find the issue. You might want to consider giving the tank a proper clean up, and pull the pumps off for a clean as well.

    "Prowler" Project.

Up your security too. Worth the cash if your serious about the stereo etc. A really good alarm, immobiliser, security tints, etc. At the end of the day if some f***wit wants in, they will get in. But if you can slow them down and require them to be a bit louder in the process, your chances of...

Where are all the Labor supporters?

Better dead than Red in my book, but then our Labour over here are, were, and always will be a bunch of closet communists posing as socialists and telling everyone what to do. Last years election result was the best thing to happen in NZ for the past 10 years. Really, I shouldn't get involved...

can i leave my air intake off????

No, and er, not for these. But if your chequebook is big enough, I'll get you one!

    vl executive preferred oil.

The lads are on the money - although I will add that the 15w40 your mechanic put in isn't going to be a bad thing, especially on a one off. But with older higher Km motors, def go for a 20w50... and make it a Valvoline (although others will argue!)

    Worst Holden colours.

Baby vomit green from the VL. It was disgustingly great, just like Beige cricket uniforms. On the hothouse subject, I much much much prefered 'Kryptonite' the colour of the SSX concept. Sex.

Ok i'll keep the cat, can i get rid of the muffler?

Why god why do people insist on butchering standard exhausts in search of a third of a horsepower?!? Do yourself and your car a favour, if you have a hundred bucks sitting around this week and are thinking about hacking a muffler out, perhaps wait a month or two till you have a few MORE hundreds...
