Why doesn't ol mate just sell his vx and buy a vl or r31 if he likes rb30's so much...the reason there are more high power rb's than ecotecs is cuz ppl haven't bothered with them cuz theres been an easier option in the form of a v8

the converter on mine isnt always locked...but i found when it does lock up at around 70 kph it takes its time un-locking when ur speed drops.....the prob seems to be related to temp as its much worse when at operating temp

i thought it may have been the knock sensors stuffing up and retarding the timing, i tryed testing them but the results were inconclusive..

i think i have a very similar problem as you, only when it at operating temp. very annoying....im a 3rd year app mechanic and i got no idea, i have checked everything eninge wise and serviced the auto...im thinking it something to do with the auto/torque converter...

check the vacuum hose that goes from the bottom of the trottle body under the inlet manifold, they always pop off and will cause rough idle etc

impossible to make an ecotec without forced induction sound good, trust me i have tryed and spent way too much money on different exhausts, just bought a stock system to put on cuz im sick of it lol keeping the extractors tho..

i wouldnt worry too much , if they are clicked on and dont fall off then its sweet, ur problem could be the plugs or a faulty coil

could have nothing to do with temp and be a faulty fuel pump...i have seen them run fine then just cut out randomly, then will work again a few mins later

dont go manual, get ur auto tricked up! plus the holden 5 speeds are weak spesh if urs is charged. i did this conversion at work think it cost him almost 2 grand in parts alone, u'll need gearbox, clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinder, tailshaft, clutch pedal box, brake pedal, center...

VE = volumetric efficiency pretty sure, seriously tho u can get good power out of the holden 6's, i spent 4 grand on a 186 (now a 208) for the vh...it went hard but u can do so much better 4 that price, could have done a 304 or 308 conversion or rb30et conversion. all are easy and cheap to do...

chicks in commodores are hot :P and vt's are the nicest looking commodore since the vh imo....go to pedders 4 ur springs they have a larger selection and have lower springs than king

yeah putting a jumper battery on it will start it but the problem will still be the starter motor (assuming the battery is ok) when they get old they draw alot more current so it will seem like u have a dead battery.

i got a drift pod and mine whistles/ sucks really loud....its freaken annoying thinking of reverting back to standard air box....i thought all ecotecs mad that noise with a pod?

im 99% sure it'll be the starter motor, they are fairly cheap for commodores. vt's and vx's have that problem with them, mine did till i replaced the starter motor now its mint

ohh and a 375ml soft drink can is way over the 100mm legal height i think they are more like 150mm tall...a standard ve wouldnt drive over that

spend a bit more money and get adjustable coilovers...worth it! u can get adjustable shocks and coil platform for the rear too so its adjustable all round but for front and rear from pedders its bout $1800......if u wanna go low get pedders grey springs....way lower than king springs and still...

yeah its a very common problem with commodores, most of the time its just seeping out and u can leave it.

i used to race 1/8th scale on road gas cars. did it for bout 4-5years, best i got was 3rd in the nsw nationals. they are awesome cars, 0-100km/h in 2 sec flat, awd bout 2.3hp at 45 000 rpm lol.

i dropped a very worked 186 in my vh. its was fun but for 4 grand u could get alot more power from another engine... its got roughly 200hp which is the same as a stock ecotec so imo waste of money i do have a soft spot for those motors tho

u cant just say that ur car is faster than another car just cuz u beat 1 once or twice...also u cant really rely on whats in wheels mags etc for acurate times cuz they are testing 1 car of that model...not all engines are they same. i've driven quick vn v6's and slow ones....quick vt's and slow...

is it a factory supercharger? or aftermarket. cuz supercharged v6's didnt come out in manual, so either its got an aftermarket charger, engine has been replaced with a super6 or gerbox has been changed. u should be able to just remove the supercharger belt which shouldnt run anything else. if...

u cant say that your car beats a certain car just cuz you won against one once...i drive about 5 different stock commodores and falcons etc, every day. some are just quicker than others for no reason...i have driven xr6's and thought they were f'n slow, next day i'll drive a different one but...

use pedders springs...they have springs that are so low they are sitting on the bumpstops...i got the next one up from them and its perfect, (but not very legal) and in the front i got adjustable coilovers so no dramas there

look at the front brake calipers... if u have drum brakes on the rear i can almost guarantee the fluid is leaking from the brake cylinders in the drums. they always leak from there, pull your drum off and peel back the rubber boot on the cylinders to check.

prob with diesels is they dont rev...they start making power just before redline... they dont belong in commodores sorry

u wont notice a performance increase trust me, i played around with cai alot...just get a nice chrome round housing and k&n filter....looks nicer too.

only 2 good proper racing games imo, gran turismo 3-4-5(prologe) and forza 2.... absolutely hate arcade style racing games, especially with the fake drifting modes like in nfs where the car magically handles totally different. forza 3 out soon :yeah:.....if they wanted to make a racing game ppl...
