Led low beam load resistor install

Front bar off, headlights out. Only way your going to find a siutable location that as others have said - can be mounted to solid metal. Those things get incredibly hot.

    LED Headlight globes into VB-VK

Yeah, but most VB-VL commodores are show cars anyway nowadays. And most people who have one have about 10 other things they can be defected for. If you own a 4x4 it seems to be a wank factor with every driver to have the brightest lights ever made to be fitted to your vehicle. - And I always...

    LED Headlight globes into VB-VK

Wouldn't bother with those cheapies Lackballs. Wouldn't give any "throw" at night. Might make the front of the car look "newer" with a white tinge for the headlights, instead of the yellow - but thats about all. If your set on LED H4's - find some with the ballast box like HID's and a internal...

    Tradie vehicle advice experience

Only problems I had with the older egas (green rocker cover) engines was the convertor gumming up and theres a hose on the drivers side I think it was? that rubbed against something and had to be replaced. The guys I work with had them at the time too (before purchasing the iLoad) and some of...

What Why When Were and How 2009 VE Berlina Series 1 Speaker system

Parcel shelf speaker havent been a thing since the VT model was introduced. To allow passengers to hear one another - speakers are fitted to the doors. Only the premium sound models have had 8" subwoofers fitted to the rear parcel shelf - not speakers. Theres a plate that can be knocked out...

    Tradie vehicle advice experience

With the gas utes - see if you can find one with the newer EcoLpi engine. I had mine loaded up with about 450kgs of stuff under the hardlid all day, everyday. the older engines gave me about around 380 -400kms per tank and the newer engines gave me about 440 - 460kms per tank. The factory alarm...

    Tradie vehicle advice experience

I've used the gas powered FG utes personally - had about 3 (two R6's and an XR6) was brillant for anything that could fit under the hardlid. Reverse camera is a must however. Those utes can be hard to park in small city spaces and carparks (turning circle is woeful.) I'm currently in a VW Caddy...

VQ Caprice 1992 What was the Stereo?

The way to tell if its a Caprice stereo or a Statesman one - The Caprice one will have a small round plug on the rear of it for the roof controls.

    Well... I pulled the pin

Not going to get caught in the "its not a Holden debate" But about the stop/start system - if its similar to the other euro systems VW/AUDI/BMW/Merc - on the negative terminal of the batteery there will be a small waterproof 2 pin plug. Disconnect this and the system will be disabled and just...

    VF Commodore "DOC" connector..

Ok, Pulled the documentation we have at work for the VF commodore. Only have the series 1 stuff, but it shows that the ignition in the DOC plug is 10amps (RAP ACCY) fuse circuit and the 12volt constant is part of the ECU fuse circuit (10-amp ECM BATT) For those requiring a switched ignition...

    VF Commodore "DOC" connector..

From memory its a 10amp fuse. Would not trust it to power a UHF radio, but a relay could be used to switch it so its off when the vehicles ignition is too. Would be best to wire it to the battery in the boot and hide the wires down the center console, under the carpet between the seats and run...

My butthole puckered up when I read "Pedders".... Have never had a positive experience from any of their franchises. I normally use TruTrack suspension in North Melbourne for any of my cars or adjustments. Cafe run by the wife there is also really nice. Glad to see you got it sorted tho.

Trans cooler - Bypass or run inline with radiator

On my VN I had it set up bypassed as the gearbox was replaced with a second hand "no warranty" one because I was in a hurry. Saw it the other day, (Mechanics son owns it now) still rocking the same set up, right down to the" suspect" gearbox. I trust the factory radiator cooling setup in the...

Nope. - Well, at least not in Victoria. They get sold as fast as the auctions get them, which is a soon as they remove all the gear and decommission the vehicle. Permanently mounting a trickle charger in a VF sedan

Cheers for that, I think having the charger outside the car is the way to go - that way the car can locked in the garage whilst charging. That means the alarm would be active as well. I personally don't like the idea of leaving the car unlocked, even in a locked garage with cameras all the time...

Permanently mounting a trickle charger in a VF sedan

Do you have a part number for the Projecta charger? Can you plug more than one car in per charger? Nice work by the way - is the 12 volt socket a "marine" rated one? - that's the only thing I'd be changing if it was mounted under the car, only because most people would drive their vehicle in...

Shed security - alarms, cameras, roller door locks? Best way to protect your investments?

Wifi ones seem to be extremely easy to hack/get into with default admin passwords - even when you have changed them on your NVR. Those 17'' VZ SS wheels - did they have "supercat" tires on them? I could swear they are my old rims from my VN - all the chunks missing are when I mounted a gutter in reverse in the wet a few years ago now... If they are my old ones, sorry about that lol

    Headlight LED upgrade

Only comment I'll make is that the "throw" (distance of light emitted from front of car) is significantly less with LED's than it is with HID's. In a projector headlight, I'd fit HID's over LED any day of the week.
