    steering wheel controls

Have you thought about getting an interface so you can use the buttons to control your new stereo? It's much safer and more convenient to keep the steering wheel controls if your new head unit is supported.

Have you checked the vacuum hose at the bottom of the throttle body? They can fall off and cause a lean mixture.

    Handbrake Adjustment

You should remove the rear discs to do the park brake correctly. Part of the job involves lubricating all the metal to metal park shoe contact surfaces (not lining surfaces of course) with special brake grease, this allows the park brake shoes to move freely on the backing plate so they center...

    Handbrake Adjustment

You should put alignment marks on them in case they were indexed to the hub (which they should be). You should know this Ricey if you are a Holden Technician. Basically indexing is aligning the most amount of run-out in the disc, with the least amount of run-out of the hub or vice versa. You...

Looking for electrical wiring help on a Pontiac G8

Headliner harness to the instrument panel harness, beneath the driver side windshield defroster panel. If you pull off the driver side a pillar trim you should find the harness, remove the demist trim panel on that side and it should be there. Hope this helps.

how do you remove siezed front discs?

The genuine ones don't have the threaded holes, some aftermarket ones do.

how do you remove siezed front discs?

Tapping them gently with a hammer won't hurt the bearings at all. You should never heat or bend any suspension, braking or steering components.

how do you remove siezed front discs?

Squirt some penetrant around the hub center and into the wheel stud holes. Tap the area of the disc between the wheel studs being carefull not to hit them,if you're useless with a hammer put the wheel studs on a few turns each to avoid thread damage. You don't have to hit it real hard, just like...

    Digial speedo

Yeah,is it a genuine Tech2 or just a generic scan tool? It sounds to me by what you've said, that you are not using a Tech 2. Take a pic of the scan tool and post it up here.

Why ask the question if you don't listen?? My response told you exactly how to do it. You only need to get onto the GM website to SPS (Service Programming System) program a module, you don't need to do this though.Just follow my instructions and you'll be sweet :spot on:

Removing wheels for Service and Safety Certificate

I think you'll find that it depends what tyre placard is fitted to your car from the factory. If the placard states 15" only, you can only go to 17" i'm pretty sure.If you had a clubby or similar with 18" on the placard, then you could go to 20".This is for NSW though.

Removing wheels for Service and Safety Certificate

Spot on,especially when vehicle is on a hoist. It is not a requirement to remove wheels to check pad thickness in NSW for a roadworthy,i'm not sure in QLD though. I thought you guys don't get annual roadworthy checks,or is this the similar to our Blue Slip?

You go into instruments, then programming, then configuration. In configuration,"Police mode" will be set to "No",change it to "Yes" and confirm program.

Passenger side seat back pocket came off

There are 2 white plastic clips that hold it on at the bottom. These probably need replacing as the lugs can break off the clips, they're not very expensive and easy to fit.

    VY Auto Transmission faulty ?

Sounds more like a plug lead or spark plug problem, this is very common on these engines. Check inside the plug leads and on the spark plug porcelain for carbon tracking (the spark by-passes the plug gap and shorts out to the head externally, giving you an intermittent engine miss) carbon...

Car sounds different after oil change

Well i've been using 10w 30 in both my VS and VY since i've had them. 320,000kms on the VS with no ticks or rattles, engine never been pulled down,go figure.

Car sounds different after oil change

10w 30 is fine for Ecotechs, and is actually recommended by Holden for maximum fuel economy. Just make sure it has a minimum rating of SJ ILSAC GF2 (most new quailty oils are GF3 or GF4).

Weird noise coming from front of engine, Video included. Please help...

Put your ear to the handle of a long screwdriver and place the tip on the pulley bolts with the engine running (BE CAREFUL).The screwdriver will act as a stethoscope and will amplify the noise and make it easier to identify where it's coming from.If it's not one of the pulleys,do the same on the...

has anyone replaced there blaupunkt with something else... im thinking about it.

It's a piece of cake to fit,i've got the wiring diagrams and manual for it.I'll also throw in a special VY surround and bracket setup in black. It has one of the tabs missing,it got broken in the post, but it still fits into place fine. I think I have a new wiring patch harness that connects to...

has anyone replaced there blaupunkt with something else... im thinking about it.

It's the Oz sellers margins.I bought mine over 2 years ago for about $60 inc delivery from the US,at the time they cost $220 here for the same thing. Most DVD players won't play movies unless the handbrake wire is earthed. Some just need a constant earth (like your obviously),others need to see...

You need a PAC-SWI,buy one from Ebay USA.They only cost about $70 - $90 including delivery and take about a week to arrive. I'm on my second Pioneer DVD double din head unit in my VY. The first one is like new that I pulled it out,but I wanted to upgrade to the newer model :) - My wife wasn't...

    Plenum cover gasket?

While they are re-usable,if they are the originals i'd replace them while they were off considering they'd be over 6 years old.
  33. W

    Stretched Timing Belt

They have 3 timing chains,no belts except for the external accessory drive belt which has nothing to do with engine timing. When they stretch they do decrease engine performance, sometimes dramatically. When the chains wear the valve timing is incorrect

Battery Drain via Main 60A fuse with everything off

Have you checked the fuses and relays under the bonnet,if not remove them first. Something reasonably big is drawing current, sounds to me like a power window or seat motor. Are any of the switches stuck up? Remove the switch from the console and disconnect the wiring to be sure. If your VY...

Standard features left out + Gripes.

Exactly, and the stupid thing is that the six stacker plays MP3s.Mp3s would be much more important on a single than a six stacker. Better still, why not put a player in it that plays MP3 from a DVD like my Pioneer. Crappy el-cheapo standard headunits give me the shits, especially when it's so...

VY V6 Dash LCD not working

I have sucessfully resoldered the LCD panels on these before, dry and cracked solder joins on the PCB is the most common cause of this. If you can't solder, take it to someone who can for a cheap fix.

    Need Advice/Mechanics help

Before doing anything, check that battery terminals are tight and clean.Check battery voltage at battery with a multimeter while trying to crank the engine. If it's OK,do the same test at the positive and negative points under the bonnet. Are they both more than 12 volts when trying to crank...
