thanks vs 5.0 for the heads up
the night I picked it up
sitting next to my clubby

removed the battery box and started to clean up the rust...
Ive since bought this car from Richies brother and setting on putting it back on the road.
Have pulled out the RB30 and auto and purchased a smashed R33 skyline to strip its running gear. the vl will receive the manual rb25 engine and box in the coming months and plan to have it together and...
well ive been quite busy getting this ready for powercruise.
firstly ill address the overheating. after much deliberation as to what was causing it to overheat. i had read many problems with people having overheating problems after fitting an aussie desert coolers radiator. i was convinced...
looks soo good. youve got the hardest part to do put the car back together after its painted. i had to do that on mine and wish i done it the other way. had the car all done then send it for paint.
definitely go the tuff mounts and pacemakers. they fit like a glove although they do come very...
i might speak to a radiator place yet. pwr quoted me 950 for the radiator that should cool 1000hp+ coupled with a 3000cfm spal fan.
i have a couple of pictures of what ive been up to.
the breathers directly on the covers were getting soaked with oil from the rocker covers and dripping oil...
Thanks for all your help guys. Ive been on the phone to pwr this afternoon and had a chat. But here is my thread if you wish to diacuss Beached Az VS ute LS1 T56

I have really tried everything else to be honest. Without highjacking the thread. Its a 408 iron block running a gt42 up the front. The radiator is a aussie desert coolers street and strip with 3 thermo fans 2 on the back and one on the front. Has a big oil cooler the exhaust has all been...
Thanks for the reply man. Its hard to gauge if what works in the states will always work for us over here. Ive done about 450kms in mine and it overheats when idling. So yeah I think the extra flow at idle should help. As funny as it might sound extra power is something I dont think im looking...
congrats on getting it running mate. you'll be loving cruising around in this after all the hard work!
ive got a question for you about the electric water pump. how is it going? im having troubles with my mechanical pump and overheating. just thought id ask you before going to buy one. cheers :)
getting very close to going back in now.
i picked up some heat socks to go over the spark plug boots. after 4 of the old boots already had cracks in them.
picked up the exhaust from ceramic coating. and fitted that.
had the clutch rebuilt. put that on and then had to take the engine...
before the heads went on
heads on
the sump ready to go back on
took the chance with the engine out to tidy up the paint in the engine bay. repainted the passenger side guard and rail. and the drivers side rail where some brake fluid leaked and ruined the paint
thanks guys. im coming to a point where im sick of things breaking all the time and not getting an engine to run correctly so after the 408 had a vibration issue i pulled it apart and it seems two of the pistons had damage to the lower skirts and it was slightly out of balance. and the bearings...
im starting a trend of not using them. haha no ive been too lazy to go get some standard wheel nuts so that the centre caps will fit on. i need another set of doritos for my trailer if you know of any for sale?
well i managed to get the biggest oil cooler i could fit anywhere. ive got it mounted infront of the radiator but behind the intercooler. pics will take care of the rest. still waiting on a sandwich plate to come so i can finish it off. then see if it fixes my problem. fingers crossed
and...
I took it for a drive in some traffic yesterday and the temp gauge just kept climbing up. So ive pulled the thermostat out and drilled a couple holes in it and put it back in. So far so good. But im planning to go for a bit of a drive this afternoon and test it before I take it to get tuned...
taking it up to gerald at springwood car care. this weekend. for him to finish off my tune. at the moment. its on a base tune to suit the 3 inch exhaust. doesnt spool as quick with the 4 inch but it should be good when i can rev it right out. ill be sure to get some videos once its done.
well the exhaust has been done. its a single 4 inch from the turbo to the tub including one muffler and a 100cell cat.
i also had some problems with the temperature wanting to climb up when sitting at the lights so ive put another davies craig 14 inch thermo fan in front of the...
Theres a few flaws with your plan mischa. 1 the trailer wont fit 2. The 4 wheel drive is too high to fit under the carport.
Thanks some guy I cant wait to see how it goes

got the wheels on the car today.
plumbed up the catch can and put some coarse steel wool inside the can to try help catch the misting oil and make it into droplets.
put the last blocking fittings into the fitting i had to get to be able to run the flex sensor off a -6 line. primed it up and...
also thanks to dan for finding my steering bearing that goes thru the firewall was stuffed so i had to pull it out and replace it. thanks to mischa for the replacement :)
i forgot i also installed a new balancer as i bent the other one during building the engine. ouch
well ive got the haltech all in and wired up now. running the flex fuel sensor and a boost control solenoid also have hooked up the wideband to read directly to the ecu. still need to send the oil pressure and oil temp to the ecu but that will come in time. my plan is to later get a haltech...
Yeah waiting for parts or money for parts is the worst.
I actually fired it up for a second today. Just running a small amount of brake clean I sprayed into the manifold.
I need to wire up the haltech and then get it to the tuner to do his thing
I would like to have it coated man but I...
thanks man. im sick of working on it every chance i get and still not being able to drive it. such is life though. its close now. i need to flush clean fuel thru the system and wire in the haltech. then its time for tuning.
i made up the lines on the back of the rails today. and tightened them...
haha yeah rich. aparently the oddyssey batteries are pretty good. but nontheless i went with the optima. i went to rocket this morning and swapped my leads for the correct set ( yay) and sized up one of the aeroflow brackets. but theyre much too small. and i could get a billet sepecialties one...
teflon lines are aeroflow performance. purchased from rocket industries in blacktown.
K bagz i just bought this battery haha. dont wanna sell it. it will fit even with the lid down in the back. i just need to figure out a mount.
skappascrap that would be awesome. the battery looks awesome on...

well today i spent a few hours doing some fiddly bits and pieces heres whats been done
.fitted the tailshaft and chasis stiffener
.filled gearbox with transmax z this time after hearing good things about it.
.filled engine with running in oil
.fitted...
yeah i still have the kenworth turbo timer. i tried under the speed alert buttons. but couldnt get it to look good. and i like the option of just pressing stop if i want it to turn off straight away. in the event of an emergency. so it might go under the headlight switch somewhere. easy to...
thanks mate. i still have a long list to go. but each day that i get some more done i tick a little bit more off the list.
today i got my gauges in and working. just need to hook them up to the computer to change the parameters as they are set for imperial measurements and the 02 sensor is set...
