Overheating every second time i turn it on.

I reckon the water pump is stuffed. Have you tried changing that and see if that makes any diffence?

vt has no reverse lights help needed regent

Not sure what the neutral start switch has anything to do with your reverse lights.... Its more likely your reverse microswitch is stuffed or the wiring to this switch has fallen off. You'll have to pull apart your centre console to get to it. The microswitch activates when you select the...

My fuel reading in my Vt is stuffed!!

Does your needle drop to Empty when you turn your car off? Just before you start your car, press and hold Mode and Up buttons, then start the car. Once your car is running, you can let go the buttons and scroll through until you get to "Fuel Remaining" screen. As you're driving, the fuel...

    hissing noise through centre vents

Sounds like a leak in the vacuum hose for changing the vent control. Mine is doing that too but unfortunately the leak isnt at the actuator but further back and it'll need the entire dash pulled apart to get to it. You might be lucky to find a vent mode that won't be hissing...mine is hissing...

    hard to start when cold

Check your connections to your starter motor is ok. Otherwise it could be your starter motor or starter relay is on its way out.

    help car wont start sometimes

Should check the obvious first. Make sure your battery terminal connections are tight and aren't fouled up.

    VT Ecotec prob

With the car off, press and hold Up and Mode buttons, then while still holding down those 2 buttons, turn your ignition on and start the car. You can release those buttons once the engine is running. Press Mode to get to coolant temperature display on your LCD screen, and keep an eye to see what...

bleed your cooling system again. its probably air trapped in your system.

    VT SS 5.0L electrical problems

First get your alternator fixed....it should charge your battery even if its idling. Ideally the voltage should sit somewhere in the 13-14V region when idling. Its easy as replacing the carbon brushes and regulator unit in your alternator. Next take a look at your relays. It could be one or...

Rattle noise underneath after Ultratune service

I'm finding this post amusing....the prices you guys are posting would have been what I would consider reasonable....they're more like cost of parts, some labour and maybe the cost of courier to get the part to the shop. Before you want to whinge about being overcharged, take your car to a...

    VT Series 2 Horn

This is where you have to crawl under your car, disconnect the feed to your horn at the horn terminals. Then use a multimeter and see if you're still getting 12V between the feed and frame of your car when you press the horn. That will confirm if your wiring is still good. If it is, your horn is...

    VX series query

That's another way you could tell, but its not reliable since people can swap parts out, put badges on etc easily. Your VIN is a sure way of telling you which series that you have.

    Car Alarm

It could mean either your horn is burnt out or its been disconected.

    VX series query

The car's VIN will confirm if your car is a series 1 or 2.

My new Altezza headlights and LED driving lights

I would rather the law than get into the semantics of why the law shouldn't be applied. It is very rare for people and mechanics to properly adjust headlamps to comply with the road rules. Even insurance approved repair centres don't adjust them either when replacing or fitting headlamps...

My new Altezza headlights and LED driving lights

Its been law here in WA for years. And its not a stupid law. Keep the peace and stop annoying the other drivers on the road. I know I get annoyed everytime I see someone drive past or behind me with their fog lamps on, high beam or with their superbright HID headlamps because seriously it is...

Which would you keep or sell & why??

Sell both and get a Series 2 VX. It has the same body shape as VT and its a better improvement over the VTs :)

    99 VT problem

something about tightening a belt to do with transmission? what the?.. Did your car feel like its idling really rough? It could be your ignition leads, spark plugs or coil packs need replacing. I'd get that checked out first as its cheaper than overhauling your transmission.

Are you planning to nick a VX SS? :P

    Power steering Leak

Either pump seal is gone or one of your hoses is loose or has a split in it.
  25. A

VX Exec V6 randomly cutting out

Another possibility is if the connector contacts to your fuel pump is loose or dirty. Give it a clean and see how you go. Otherwise it could be your fuel pump thats on its last legs.
  26. A

    bouncing temp gauge

It could be bad connection at your temp sensor. Give the connectors a clean with some contact cleaner and see how you go.

    Fuel saving advice please

Touchy subject...but before we all go all out in this flame war, it would be wise if we all observe the road rules for each state that you're driving in, and its slightly different with each state having its own road rule quirk. The general ones that are common in all states are Keep Left...

    Fuel saving advice please

I'd use premium unleaded for continuous long distance drive (with very few stop/starts in between), you'd usually get about 100 to 200km extra out of the tank compared to using regular unleaded. And yeah, don't use cruise control uphills as it always tries to keep up the speed by dropping gears...

    horn doesn't work....why?

For the time being, you could deadlock your doors and not use your remote alarm. that way you can still use your horns while you're driving and not have the alarms going off.
  30. A

    horn doesn't work....why?

Check your door switches too. Make sure they've got the rubber boots sealed properly otherwise the switches won't sit properly when your doors are closed. Theres also a chance that the electrical door switch contacts could be dirty and need cleaning.

ABS, Engine, Traction Control and Airbag Lights

Its likely if the ABS sensor or the cable itself is disconnected or damaged during the brake pad changeout it can trigger off your ABS warning light.
  32. A

    ABS Module - replace repair

most likely you've damaged something thats causing the warning light to come on. Check the fault code otherwise take it in to a mechanic to have a look.

2000 VX Commodore Berlina Losing Power While Driving

Not sure about the servicing history of your car...maybe get the fuel filter changed first and see how you go. It might also be you have a bad batch of fuel in your car too but thats rare. Your fuel pump could be on its way out but thats a bit hard to know when the problem is so intermittent...

Hissing or Grinding sound coming from water pump and batt light on at the same time

Possibly. Try cleaning the contacts and reconnecting the leads. Then check your charging voltage with the car running. If its not between 13.5 to 14.5V, your regulators are stuffed. To change the regulators, take out the alternator and it will require a little dismantling of the regulator. Good...

    ABS Module - replace repair

Like I said before, I got mine from Coventrys for about $300, new genuine Bosch electronic unit, took me about 45 mins to change out being the first one I have every done. I suppose if Holden is your only shop in the area, you'd have no other options of getting a new one other than maybe knowing...

Vt slight misfire at low revs / slugish when hot

Start from your spark plugs, follow the leads back and you'll finish to a block thats has 3 circular poles marked 1 to 6 for a V6, or 4 poles marked 1 to 8 for a V8. That would be your coil pack. As far as testing goes, it won't be easy doing at home unless you have the right gear. Best to get...

Vt slight misfire at low revs / slugish when hot

Coil packs are probably on their way out.
  38. A

Hissing or Grinding sound coming from water pump and batt light on at the same time

Are you sure the noise is coming from your water pump and not from your alternator? I'm sure the same drive belt turns your water pump as well as your alternator. Taking off your drive belt would also stop turning your alternator which kind of defeats the diagnosis. Your battery light coming on...

Help needed on crazy vt wiring for noob!!!

No idea. if its not in the holden vt wiring diagram, its probably fitted by third party for whatever purpose, nobody will know except maybe the ex-owner of the car. Could be for a roof mounted horn and flashing lights for some charity bash drive or a spot lamp to go roo hunting? I dont know =P
