    Yes, the auto transmission sump. But as you mention before, its just started, probably not much metal stuck on the magnet yet, transmission oil service wont help this. the only thing to fix this is to pull out the tranny and change the torqe converter, and do not keep driving it for long...

    Could be the lock-up in torqe converter possibly worn out inside, its common mostly from 5speed transmission. to check this ,you take the sump off and check if there metal or like aluminium hanging on the magnet.

    It could be your lsd doing that problem, maybe worn out. Never seen any ss or v8 with 5 speed automatic tranny, its either 4 or 6 speed auto. Maybe not strong enough to handle the power of v8 or something else?

    They both the same 100% including the yoke, bolt straight up ,only difference is the gear ratio could be 3.45 on vz ss and lsd while your's 3.07 or 3.08 if it is 4 speed auto.

    With no error codes, most probably broken sprag {its like a one way bearing inside the cylinder] you either repair or recondition or get a second hand one.

    Is it a 4 speed or 5 speed auto? as you mention before{ Previous post] water got into the tranny thats why they change the radiator, then you take it to specialist and full apart the box and changed the sensor, probably solenoid not sensor. why did you not take it back to tranny specialist...

    Why did your mechanic flush it instead off normal tranny service? is the old oil still red or brownish color when you bring the car for service? Just change the filter and insist use the dex 3 oil on it, probably the filter is block that was causes it.

    The way you describe it, its the tranny pump causing this, probably when he put it back the converter not properly in and tightning the bell housing bolt will straight away snap the pump gear, its either change just the pump or get 2nd hand.

    Is there any noise before you put the lsd? if not, chances are you did not put correctly ( clearance between the crown and pinion called backlash) or did you put new bearing on lsd carrier or did the lsd been reconditioned?

    If you gonna put turbo, my advice would be a high stall converter, after market HD sun shell, set of metal piston with molded seal for the cylinder, 3&4 high temp. friction clucth ( this set of friction is one sided only and no need to put the old friction plate)

    VN auto does'nt have electronic thing in there, they are all mechanical inside except the speedo(mech to electrical). and beside you cannot bypass the kick down cable it will not control the change of gear, better rebuilt your old one if thats the issue.

    100 percent different, you cant put live lsd center into irs lsd. first the lsd carrier on live one is lower compare to irs [ you know where the crown sit] second inside the irs lsd have groove so when you put in the cv axel joint it lock there, while live lsd dont have them. it will come out.

    I think ute different from sedan, where as ute use leaf spring, shocks or sometimes stabilizer bar so the diff always in center and sedan live axle uses coil spring, shocks, upper and lower control arms, stabilizer also etc. but not sure about late model ute.
