VY Commodore Squeal / Squeak Only On Deceleration.

Transmission has only done about 30,000km since rebuild was no noise in previous car the transmission came out of. The noise was there with my previous transmission and the new transmission and also still there after doing the 25,000km first trans service. Thanks for idea but I don't think...

VY Commodore Squeal / Squeak Only On Deceleration.

Have a weird one for you guys. 2002 VY S Ute, Ecotec 3.8 Auto with 427,000km on the clock. Has a squeak or squeal only on deceleration and only above 60kph. Can drive it all day around back streets and don't hear a thing. Take it above 60 and has a squeak / squeal as soon as you back off the...

VZ Alloytec Intermittent Check Oil Light and Engine Rattle

Drained about 18 liters in total, no bullshit... Filled it up with the recommended oil (bought genuine filter and Acdelco oil but have a bit of smoke from the oil cap and PCV fresh air inlet so need to take the driver's valve cover off and clean out the PCV outlet. Apart from that running and...

VZ Alloytec Intermittent Check Oil Light and Engine Rattle

No I'm serious. Maybe even more. I filled an 8l oil tub almost to the top 6l or maybe a bit more) then 4l the second time I drained it and still above full. Went to Amcap and bought the Acdelco semi-synthetic stuff Holden recommend and a genuine filter drove it on a few short trips and no rattle...

VZ Alloytec Intermittent Check Oil Light and Engine Rattle

Just drained 10l of oil out of the engine and still sitting above full on the dipstick. Drove it up the road and back much more power and idling whisper quiet out the front of the shop for 20 minutes now. Not too sure on the grade of oil but was pretty murky and horrible looking so I would...

VZ Alloytec Intermittent Check Oil Light and Engine Rattle

Having a weird issue with a 2005 VZ HBA Alloytec engine. Engine starts and runs perfectly, smooth and not one rattle or tick upon startup. One of the quietest Alloytecs I've ever heard. After some time the car comes with a "Check Oil" light and continues to drive like normal. Sometimes this...

    VT L67 Misfire

Bought a VT Commodore wagon with an L67 out of a VT S from a friend with a rough idle and misfire under load. Planted it in the corner but now another friend wants to purchase the car from me once it's running right and I'm now building a L67 VY wagon so to get rid of this one would be nice...

VX LS1 Starter Clicking When Trying To Start

Have a VX Berlina LS1 wagon. Has progressively developed an issue when trying to start. When I turn the key I hear a loud click from the starter motor but no cranking. After several attempts it will crank, fire and run. Before I start this is NOT an immobilizer issue so please don't suggest...

    Holden vt calais brakes

I hope you didn't put new pads on scored rotors.. If you did the pads will get eaten away much faster and rotors will heat up unevenly. Would have been worth replacing rotors while you are there

VX Calais ABS and Engine Light

Picked up a VX Calais for $700 unlicensed the other day for spare parts. On close inspection the car appears to be worth relicensing (In WA the cheapest Calais on Gumtree is $4,900!!!) However there are some dramas with the ABS/Traction control system and Engine light. I originally had the...

1998 VT V6 auto no start, no crank, nothing - Lots of detail inside

I would be changing the gear indication plate on the passenger side of the gearbox. You can do this under the car it is a little tight you'll need a 17mm spanner and a 13mm 3/8 socket and ratchet to remove it. Seen these go plenty of times causing starting issues and actually bought a VT...

will a VT sedan series1 bcm work in a VX

You need the same part number BCM to do a proper swap. I've seen people use newer BCMs in older cars but never the reverse. Also I would assume a VT Exec would only have a LOW BCM where the VX Acclaim would have a MID BCM to operate all the extra features especially electric windows. Also...

    VT L67 Phantom Starting Problem

No spark on plugs 1 and 3. Those are the two leads that shock me when holding them near headers to test for spark. Tried new leads, new coil and new ignition module no difference. Is that the same as an Ecotec one? Haven't tried changing that yet although unlikely to disable a whole car it is...

    all over the place

Did you do front and rear radius bushes or just front most people forget the rears. Also, i suggest new struts and tie rod ends and check for scalloped tyres from previous **** alignment.
  28. Mick1988

Need some boot struts for a VT Manta? Don't do what I did.

You got lucky most ebay sellers sell things for $1 plus $24 postage so they have to refund you bugger all if you return it. A business will NEVER cop the cost of postage in a situation like that. Cheers for the tip though, my XU6 has the Manta kit so good to know.

    Slow Acceleration

Multimeters arent expensive. Even try a coil pack and dfi module off a friends car theyre only 3 bolts. Also fuel pump and filter, probably not clutch if revs are consistent with speed.

    Slow Acceleration

Its not something silly like a slipping clutch is it? Id be maybe trying a dfi ignition module.

Hi all, Just upgraded from a 2002 VX II Commodore to a 2004 VY II Commodore and overall I'm impressed. I even went from a Berlina to an optioned out Executive (ex police) and haven't felt ripped off in terms of comfort and features. Both are Ecotec V6 autos the only difference is the VY runs...

    Alloytec Oil Leaks

Hi guys, bought a licensed 2004 VZ Acclaim wagon at a bargain price from an auction. Car was sold cheap due to a coolant leak and noisy idler pulleys. Upon hearing the car drive through I immediately knew the issue was water pump. So I took the car home and removed the water pump which was...

VY Calais into VX S Pac

You will need to change the entire body harness for it to work and have the Calais BCM matched to your ECU by somebody with a Tech 2 but it will work. Only thing is make sure your Calais loom is the type with the three plugs on top of brake booster for ECU connection as VY series II relocated...
