VN RWC too costly - what to do?

thanks for the suggestions folks - and the funnies :D. I've now taken her to 3 different mechanics for RWC check - a couple of locals and a Repco. Each one picked up the rust under windscreen and the rack. So I figure she's a lost cause unless i can get a dodgy bros operation to help out...

[VIC] Parts available from VN wreck

315,000kms yes, it does drive fine. i was initially going to get a guy to pick it up for scrap metal which is why I said the drivertrain wasn't available. But I've reconsidered now in hopes that someone can do something useful with the whole car given the individual parts aren't in demand.

Nasty flat spot on acceleration when cold

yeah, runs fine on gas. error check didn't produce any error codes but thx for the suggestion and agree it has probably been caused by not driving enough on petrol. I'll try to approach this systematically to minimise cost - clean injectors, check, replace fuel filter, check, replace fuel...

Nasty flat spot on acceleration when cold

Hi folks, Get this horrible flat spot on the VS V6 when cold. If I use any more than 25% throttle when driving out of my driveway, the thing just doesn't go - if I keep the foot down, it coughs, splutters and may even produce a mild explosion back through the air pipe. Strangely, the...

Australia's population to grow to 42 million by 2050, modelling shows

[]Australia's population to grow to 42 million by 2050, modelling shows | News.com.au In the last 10 years, the infrastructure in Melbourne has not kept up with population growth. The government, in my opinion, has done a very poor job of maintaing/upgrading our roads and public transport...

VN RWC too costly - what to do?

rust has gotten under the rear windscreen so this ain't gonna be cheap. also steering rack needs to be replaced plus there's a laundry list of other smaller items before anyone wil give me that rwc. probably time for me to upgrade anyway.

Victoria to be home to green fuel tech plant

long overdue, although the wording "investigate the viability" suggests this is still a long way off. i still don't understand why combustion engine technology is mainstream. sure, we could blame the oil companies but governments (or the powers that be) have a lot to answer for.

VN RWC too costly - what to do?

Hi folks I have a VN commodore which, for all intents and purposes, is drivable and in reasonably good nick. Unfortunately, and unbeknown to me as I had moved house, the reg lapsed and was cancelled. This meant roadworthy which, as it turned out, was going to cost more than the car is worth...

[SA] holidaying in adeliade, whats good?

lived in adelaide for 4 years and although it is quite truly a s***hole, it does have some nice spots, they're just a little hard to find. - hindley and rundle streets in the cbd are usually lively on fri/sat night and there are plenty of good pubs around - norwood parade kinda reminds me of...

    3 Mobiles

i've been with 3 since they first set up in oz. in that time, i have gone through about 5 or 6 phones due to faults and upgrades. i've always had the most success talking to onshore call centres or visiting a 3 store in person (not a 3 kiosk though). so now if i have a fault with my service...

Laws banning cellphone use while driving have no effect: study

agree with minux - i suspect that fewer people admitted they were on the phone when involved in an accident which explains the following observation: "Despite those laws, monthly fluctuations in crash rates didn't change after bans were enacted, all though there were less people using devices...

Laws banning cellphone use while driving have no effect: study

Front bar scrapes - what to do?

thanks for the tip mate. i'm finding i can't get the bottom part of the bar quite as shiny as the upper section despite how much i cut/polish (presumably because the upper was oven baked?). anything else i can try, or is that something i just need to live with?

Front bar scrapes - what to do?

sadly, not that low. i do have super lows on the front but there's still decent clearance between the road and the bar. the biggest problem is me really - i originally bought the car to do my courier work in. since moving on from that job, i've lowered it and tidied it up a bit to get it...

what should i salvage from my VS wreck?

Front bar scrapes - what to do?

Hi folks, I've got an SS front bar on my lowered ute and keep scraping the bottom of the damn thing on gutters, steep driveways, etc. Unfortunately, its botannica mica in colour (green/blue) so the scrapes show up quite prominently, ruining my otherwise nice-looking ride. Its not...

what should i salvage from my VS wreck?

Hadn't considered rocker covers - do they have problems with age? From what I could tell on ebay, most of the parts that are in high demand are either "buy it now" new or come off limited edition/top-of-the-range models. But I did notice some demand for parts already mentioned in this...
