SV6 Air Conditioning - Heating Fail

Well the old girl is getting on and noticed today that when I cranked the heating up on the a/c, all I got was coldish air. The cooling seems to be working well, just not the heating. Anyone had issues with this? What's the fix and what's the cost?

    alloytec 190

Mine's up around 14 most of the time, last week was bad with the Clipsal 500 road closures, got up to 16. I think driving style is probably the best you can do at the moment. Getting a tune might be another option too.

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

Wow, its been almost 12 months since I've posted anything in here! In September last year I got in touch with GSL Rallysport and had RDA slotted rotors and new HPX pads installed. Then paid the car off which feels so good! I've still got my old HPX pads and stock slotted rotors which I need...

VZ Parts in the shed - should I sell, ditch or hold?

Hi all, Just cleaning out my shed and I got some parts left over from some things I did last year. I did my brake rotors and pads and alloy pedals last year so I've got 4 standard VZ rotors in good condition, QFM HPX pads also in good nick and the standard VZ V6 pedal kit. Really I want...

I would leave it off. You should get more air into your engine. Don't quote me though...

    Manifold insulator alloytec vz-ve

Remember that air condenses when it gets cooler. So the theory, as per COLD AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD INSULATOR ALLOYTEC VZ-VE - Mace Engineering Group is that by keeping the manifold cooler, more air - referred to as the manifold charge - enters the engine. There's also some dyno results on that...

    Sv6 a/s

This is true. I have a September 2005 SV6 with silver manifold. Might be worth taking your car to Holden and getting them to investigate.

    Paul's VZ SV6

New stereo setup looks great, but the main thing is you're happy with the sound, that's what matters. Did you use the standard holden 6x9 covers or the ones that came with the speakers?

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

Changed the oil and oil filter for the first time myself over the long weekend, got nice and dirty and smelt of castrol. Loved it. Also put the SS alloy pedals on. Haven't got a pic yet but it looks fantastic. I ended up dropping a nut underneath the carpet so will need to fish that out when...

    Oil Filter Change

Changed the oil yesterday morning so didn't see all this but I ended up oiling both the o ring and the thread. I knew that I needed to add 6.3 litres of oil to the Alloytec but I did find it a bit difficult to check. I'll have to check the oil level tomorrow to make sure I added enough. The...

    Oil Filter Change

Yeah I know all that already...but back to the original question does the oil filter need pre oiling?

    Oil Filter Change

Hey all, I've never changed the oil filter or replaced the oil in my car before. I certain on most of it, with torque settings etc, but I'm not sure if I have to pre oil the oil filter before putting it back in. Do I just need to oil the O-ring? Any advice on where to oil the filter...

    Air filter for vz calais

If you aren't keen on cutting up the air box, get yourself a second hand one or one from Holden. Seriously, I'm not a tradie but I did this one Saturday morning pretty easily. I wrote a how to for it and you can see its pretty easy. One thing I will add, if you decide to add the MCAI, it will...

    Mick's SV6

I like the engine covers. Did you use engine enamel for hot temps or just a normal can of spray over the plastic primer?

New Ride - Silver VZ Calais

That first pic make me want to get the SS headlights! Mate that car is clean, keep this one undercover!

    Speeo probs

I know that standard from factory the speed readout is offset by a few km/h. Normally when travelling at an indicated 100 km/h, your actual speed will be 96-97, so that sort of sounds about right. I have noticed that the speedo and electronic speed display seem one or two clicks out.

To nudge or not to nudge that is the question?

Lightforce are from what I hear great quality and suffer from little vibration courtesy of some clever South Australian design and manufacturing techniques. I think you'll be right if you stick with them, although I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. There are some bad chinese...

    Elias's VZ SV6 - no spoiler - new respray

Nice ride. I reckon some Calais highlights like chrome bonnet strip and rear number plate surround would look the good on this. And like me, you need some bigger rims!

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

That's an old question.... 2008 vintage... If you scroll down a bit.. $220 from Holden for the full set of HSV plates. I think its cheaper for just the front sills. Something to note, the Holden dealer I went to was also a HSV dealer, so I'm not sure if a Holden dealer can get these HSV...

Is the SV6 the way to go?

Bad news first.. Fuel consumption is horrible in stop/start city traffic. Towing large awkward trailers on the highway is just horrible. Normally I get about 8-10L/100kms on the highway. When towing a large trailer in town its pretty good still but on the highway I was averaging more than...

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

Not really a priority at the moment, if I find a set cheap I might do so. I wound up getting some SS Alloy pedals for nothing over the weekend. He had a box of old car parts he bought and a VZ SS accelerator pedal and brake pedal stuck out so I picked those up. Just need to get a V8 VZ...

    VZ Head & Tail Lights

As has been mentioned, go for SS/Calais/HSV VZ Headlights. For tailights you want VZ SS, Calais are different, not sure on HSV.

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

Fitted some HSV scuff plates last weekend. I was going for the Holden ones but they are a bit hard to come by. Still, they look great, add some much needed bling!

    K & N filter alloytek

When VE sedans came online in 2006, VZ utes and wagon's remained in production until 2007 when utes went VE. Those VZ SV6 and SVZ utes came with the 190. That's also why t_e_z_a got the VE part number when he searched for a filter for a 2007 commodore.

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

Did you lower your ride for ride quality or to make it lower. I'll be getting 18's eventually when my current set have reached their useful life end, but not sure if I should be lowering at the same time too.

    My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6

Took the mudflaps off yesterday arvo. Also gave the car a wash and vac, was pretty dirty inside and out. Looks great with no mud flaps, the only problem is that the mudflaps were screwed in into the side skirts and bumper so if you look close there's a few holes. Bugger!

VZ Alloytec 175 2 Hole mod

I know that Alloytec like most engines are tuned from factory to run rich, as it creates a cooler, less powerful explosion which reduces wear on engine components. If fuel injection was solely based on the throttle position then a leaner burn would be created, as you add more air with the...

    DVSV8's VY SV8

Yeah I'm still here. I'll come out on a cruise in the future, don't know if I'll come out to anzacs again though, found the last time a bit boring. I took the SV6 to KI last weekend and I'm I have the flaps still on, the roads were mostly dirt. When did you get an XF ute? My old man had a...
