Brembo Front brakes on VE S1, from a VE S2 Redline. What I found.

Heres a better pic of the factory VE S1 Banjo fitting being cut down with a Hacksaw. As you can see its not much more then a hacksaw blade width that needs to come off. Dont forget new copper washers for these when you do, sometimes they seal again and some times they dont. You dont want to be...

Brembo Front brakes on VE S1, from a VE S2 Redline. What I found.

It sort of is a "Wallet Ache" going in blind. I had very little info to go on. Only very basic info i could find online around the traps but nothing rock solid and with specifics like what i found. I originally budgeted a total max ever of $1300 ($1k brakes+new pads+new fluid) to complete this...

Brembo Front brakes on VE S1, from a VE S2 Redline. What I found.

Ok, so got some mad awesome Brembo calipers and rotors off FleaBay. They were used but otherwise ok, and came only with the rubber brake line still attached and bracket, nothing else. Problems I found - Caliper Bolts are different: The thread that holds the calipers onto the car is in the...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Might be a long shot but it could be the boost valve in the pump? These wear out alot apparently. But then theres a tonn of other things too, could be the hydraulic switches in the valve body. Hard thing is you only wanna pull it out once. Not easy to get wrong then just try somthing else.

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Unfortunately i think ur beyond the 2nd 3rd flate issue. Unfortunately i think yours sounds knackered. Check the sonax? Link in my previous posts on page 1. It goes over different parts an the problems they cause. But mostly no matter what its a big job to fix almost anything on these...

VE Calais-V 6L Clunk when engaging D or R-other owners comment?

For the 2nd to 3rd flaring issue if anyone reads this thread. A USA GM TSB number to get started is 09-07-30-004C. This is for the 6L80E automatic 6sp transmission. Comes in versions: 09-07-30-004A, 09-07-30-004B, ect.. aswell as it was revised a few times adding more vehichles to it. Google it...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

OK - So, this is basically it. The GM known problem with the 2nd to 3rd Flare, the parts required to fix the issue, and the TSB guide. A shame its not to well known about over here in Aus. So basically this was fixed in the Later models from Very late 2008 onwards which i guess was in the MY9.5...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Images of seals that need to be replaced to fix issue - From TSB This first image is the Transmission Pump, it is located behind the bellhousing on the 6L80E. Reference Youtube video links in previous Post for more info on it. This image is the Seals.. AKA culprit. Apparently this is the...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Torana355, im hearing you. I bought the auto to be a nice easy cruiser, had plenty of Manuals over the years and just wanted somthing easy. Turns out this things a pain. What im getting is the 2nd to 3rd flare which so far dosnt seem super prevelant (or swept under the carpet) in Aus. By the...

    L98 rough idle????

Sounds like its idleing too low, or running rich at idle for some reason. Just at a thought the emmision sersor thingys on exhaust(cant think of their name right now for some reason) might need replacing.

LS98 - To Cam or not to Cam? that is the question.

I got my L98 cammed, but as for how much it contributed its hard to say. 1 thing is it moves. I can tell you the best reasont to cam it. - The rollers on the lifters have a tendancy to **** themselves and chew the cam out. - The Cam bearings are a split peice of **** oil bearing. Good time to...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

So far, it just looks worse every time i look into this. What the hell is with this labrinth of mazes in the valve body and pump! Im no mechanic as you might guess... Apparently the undersize seal its in there somewhere.... see sonnax link. Edit...seem to have forgotten how to upload a pic so...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Cheers oztech007. Thats some of the best info yet. Sounds like its somthing im not likely to be able to do from home. However do you have an idea on what seals they are? Are they cat seals, o-rings, gasket seals? If i can gather enough info i might give it a crack. Is the seals on the pump...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Trans has had a service. Filter an oil. No improvement. I dont believe it to be a wear/old age/service lack of, issue. Its defiantly the mentioned problem in the other thread. I beleive made worse by tune, jst would be keen on others experience on this. I have done the basics, an looking to...

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

I might try some research on the deeper oil pan, im dubious that will fix it but worth a shot if enough had success. Ive already tried new fluid but really did nothing at all for the problem. I agree after a tune it has seemed worse than before. Thanks for the info.

VE SS MY09 Auto Trans 2nd 3rd Flaring issue. Whats best fix?

Ive been reading threads here that were quite old as far as the earlier VE's Auto transmission issues with 2nd-3rd flaring/slip/flatspot issues. I have a VE SSV MY09 L98 wagon that is flaring between 2nd and 3rd, has been for 12 months or so now and is exactly to spec on the said "known issue"...

VE v8 6sp auto trans kick back to aggressive, tuning auto?

I have recently put a mild cam in my VE L98. Its got a 6sp auto trans in it. Now this is my first Auto i have really owned, so im still coming to grips with I cant just be in the gear I want all the time. My main gripe here though is with a nice V8 i like to be able to just put my foot down...

L98 lifter/cam failure ss-v 6sp auto wagon - Whats the best bang for buck fix?

Well I got the car back 2 days ago from a full engine re-build. Got the Camtch cam fitted, and going quite nicely. Still doin the 1000K run-in, but im getting knock cct faults being thrown up. Had my tuner check it out and its not pre-detonating. So 2 new knock sensors ordered. Good thing is...

L98 Cam selection opinion VE 6spAuto

Im sort of at the mercy a bit of the supplier and my time frames. But yes a slightly larger lift would have been good. At the end of the day im not far off what i was after. Between the new cam, new intake, new headers, dyno run, It should come together nicely as far as a pickup on standard...

L98 Cam selection opinion VE 6spAuto

Well ive gone for a similar Cam: CT2871 49915A/ 49922B- 112 The 112 Satnds for the LSA, but Camtech are able to move the LSA to 114, which im getting done. Its not as aggressive, as long as duration as the previous one in Post1, but im happier with that, along with the larger lift and having...

L98 Cam selection opinion VE 6spAuto

Basically yes i am having trouble finding an off the shelf stick. Ill keep looking, just my engine re-builder asked I use Camtech as he deals with them all the time. But nothing quiet ticks the boxes much. Im not after lumpy noise for no reason, or max powahh at a short peak at 4500-6000rpm...

L98 Cam selection opinion VE 6spAuto

Thoughts on this cam? Im thinking the inlet adv duration is a bit short, and the exhaust is a bit large and im concerned it might have too-short of a peak on the tourque curve. However im far from a cam expert. Im just after a mild cam but im having trouble finding the right cam. The HSV 300kw...

L98 rebuild for the VE wagz. Thoughts on this basic combo?

So sounds like it will be a worth while addition. Im just a bit wary of spending good coin on inlet and exhaust stuff, as the 304's never used to benefit alot from all of that. I spent quiet a bit of money on Extractors/exhaust/CAI on my old 5Ltr and never seen any real worth while gains for the...

L98 rebuild for the VE wagz. Thoughts on this basic combo?

I wasnt aware you could replace the TPS only without replacing the entire TB. So its a fair given that the OEM air intake assembly is restrictive? Its such a random shape i guess, its layout is like a 3 bedroom house. Is it best to skip the run around and go for an OTR setup? I seen yella...

L98 lifter/cam failure ss-v 6sp auto wagon - Whats the best bang for buck fix?

Possible was, i guess i will never know now. I did lose oil pressure as the bearing deteriorated. Do you have any further info on "Oiling Issues"? Are there any known oiling issues with these engines?

L98 rebuild for the VE wagz. Thoughts on this basic combo?

My Stock SS-V L98 MY09 auto wagon has had a bit of a top end failure. So its just been more economical(peace of mind) to get it rebuilt, then chance anything on a half done top end fixer-upper job. So while thats happening im looking at just slapping in a mildy bigger cam and T-bar lifters...

L98 lifter/cam failure ss-v 6sp auto wagon - Whats the best bang for buck fix?

Sooooo, further to this I have since found that the Cam bearing has failed. So engine is out and off for a full rebuild. The Split Style Cam Bearing used by GM is a pos. Ill be having a 1 peice unit installed during the rebuild. So i seem to have the trifecta here of, lifter, cam, and bearing...

VE SS Auto, what size CAM for stock converter?

Cheers for the info. I will push forward i think with this cam, and i guess i will see how it goes on the dyno later. Seems to me like a good cam to give the wagon a bit of a kick in the pants.

L98 lifter/cam failure ss-v 6sp auto wagon - Whats the best bang for buck fix?

Cheers for the info everyone. Im looking at a mild new cam and some lifters. L98 lifter/cam failure ss-v 6sp auto wagon - Whats the best bang for buck fix?

I havnt fully diagnosed it yet, but at a minimum I definatly have somthing not right over #4 cylinder thats making a squeaky/grinding noise. Fairly certain its going to be a failed lifter, but it will be weather or not its chewed the cam also. Im going to assume it has, as im pretty sure it...

Vs 304 won't start whilst hot

My old wagon had this similar issue, I used to do what another post said. That was to prime the fuel pump multiple times(usually 3) before starting and it worked almost every time. Not sure if maybe when siting the fuel gets hot in the fuel rail maybe? and priming it puts some fresh cold fuel in...
