    Airbag failure - crash

Sorry I should have clarified what happened with the airbag. It never deployed, all the trim is in place. I don't know whether it was supposed to deploy, maybe the 'airbag fault' is due to damage, but I can't work out what the instant smoke and smell was from...

    Airbag failure - crash

So...my beautiful beast was sandwiched in a crash recently. I'm OK but it isn't. Interestingly enough the dash said 'airbag failure' or 'Airbag fault' or something to that effect. The car was full of white smoke, almost like a poppadum was microwaved for 10 minutes, as though the airbag failed...

    VE HVAC actuator replacement.

I've got the issue where my passenger side has no temp control, but has direction control. The drivers side is fine. Am I looking at replacing the lower passenger side one or does it sound like something too hard to fix? (hvac box failure etc)

VE V8 engine noises with different temperatures

Mine does it too. How hard would it be to warm the engine up 30 minutes before takeoff with a heater or something? Would be nice.

I'd only buy a 2nd hand VE V8. They're noisy but solid motors if you treat it as a family sedan

    Led lights in ve

Interesting. I must ask, what's the point of the fan if you all have dust covers on? The LED would cook in no time, if being used as a low beam. I'm keen to try them in my high beam, likely without the cover. Commjunk that cover looks interesting, I however wonder where the air is being drawn...

No power to anything after reverse polarity during battery change.

There's no reason for a fuse to blow, unless an electrical device has completely failed and shorted out. They limit current, they aren't bothered about which way it's going. That said, it's possible that the relays used to switch power have inbuilt diodes (for back emf protection), they're...

    Led lights in ve

Out of curiosity, what leds lights did you buy and how do they compare? I've been interested in them for years but didn't think they were suitable to be installed in a standard fitting.

    Ve v8 thermo fan replacement

Yes, that probably disqualifies the 10% coupon. It's $200 delivered, much cheaper than buying it locally.

    Ve v8 thermo fan replacement

Thanks pnlimo, for the benefit of anyone reading this in the future I called up Holden and enquired about the fan motor individually. They are $290 each. The GM part number is 92191945. I'm getting one from the USA for $190 delivered.

Cheaper alternative for VE Wiper Blades

Just posting to say thanks for listing these parts, got the 2 front wipers off ebay for $40 or so. They are so smooth and quiet compared the to the last lot of cheap wipers.

    Ve v8 thermo fan replacement

Thanks for that link. Gee $400, I wonder if that's a normal price? The v6 ones seem to be around the $200 mark, they couldn't be too different haha

Nah they're pretty good OP, don't worry. My experience has been there is always something that needs attention but they aren't expensive cars to fix.

    Ve v8 thermo fan replacement

Just wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy an aftermarket thermo fan for an 09 v8. Online everyone is selling series 2 or series 1 v6 fans but there's nothing for the series 1 v8. It's ticking loudly but working so I'm not worried about imminent failure, surely I'm not the only one to...

    6l80E warming up

Thanks so much for the information monstar and Benboy. I've recorded some audio, it wasn't dead cold as I let it warm up before I drive it but it should be audible. https://vocaroo.com/i/s07yV5kIXRyL I'll have a mechanic give it a little TLC soon :)

    6l80E warming up

I'm after some opinions on an issue with my 6 speed auto. When the car is cold it sounds really whurry and like it's about to fall out of the car. I know only a mechanic can tell me what's wrong with it, however I thought the fact that it behaves almost perfectly when it's warmed up is...

    Cyl 1 3 and 6 I think driver side

Why don't you try and help us out by stating what motor, how many kms, other symptoms. In my opinion you have two options 1. Take it to a mechanic to sort out 2. Buy an OBD scanner off ebay and see what the problem is. If you possess the tools required I'm sure someone can help you...

    VE L98 Cylinder Location

I'm afraid I must ask a basic question that my searching (surprisingly) cannot answer. I've had an error (cyl 4 misfire) so I'm going to swap leads/plugs/coils/injectors until I get my answer...but I'm not sure which one cyl 4 is. Is there a diagram floating about that can help me out?

    headlights

I'd be surprised if non genuine are more robust than genuine. I think most of the aftermarket fittings have those funny LED inserts. These ones seem to look factory like, awfully cheap too http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141981393200 Holmart is another place to keep an eye on.

    excess noise notice

An actuator has to be the simple solution here. I hate being woken up at 6am by the bogans across the street...if everyone set their cars to quiet in the morning and when parking at night everybidy wins. I get to sleep in and noisy cars pass inspection. The only thing stopping me from doing...

Difference between iq1 and 2 head unit

It should be pointed out that I've heard nothing but complaints about the iq system locking up etc etc. I haven't heard of many problems with the simple yet robust series 1 system - in my case the exception being that the aux in requires a squirt of contact cleaner every couple of years.
