well i said i wasn't doing anything else for awhile . But i have put a wooden steering wheel on and i'm picking up a set of black 17" VR Clubsport wheels for it tomorrow . Will put some picks up when i get them on .
As some of read i have turned my black 308 into a 355 . I have the timing set at +8 and seems to be running fine as i run it in . What i want to know is . Do i leave the timing as is or do i need to change it to suit the stroker ? Not on gas and running it on 98 octane fuel . Cheers.
Just a pic of the VH on it's first run out of town to a mates place . Went like a dream . Couldn't ask for anymore . Also has lowered springs in the front now .
I would still check the centre bearing out . The rubber gets all soft and crappy and will knock on take off . Mine makes a little knock on take off so i'll replace it later on sometime .
I got my bracket from the wreckers . From what i can gather it's off something like a HQ or something around that time . Only reason i got that bracket was I put the battery in the boot . I think the alternator would hit the battery tray in the VH .
Well the engine is going and running like a dream . The engine bay still needs a tidy up and a wash from when the engine poo'd itself last time . But with it all together again It's good to look at Knowing i'll be driving it tomorrow :D .
Sure have good buddy . Priming worked a treat ! Use grease . Don't even think it was more than 2 seconds and the oil pressure was up and engine runnin smooth and quiet . I can believe the difference between the 308 note and the 355 note . Sounds very deep on idle . Thanks for everything . Yet...
I'll probably just get a set of 17's or 18's . The roads around here are crap so i'll need some wall on the tyre to stop pole holes wrecking the rims .
Well This is the first time but i can't get oil pressure . as said never had to do it before ....... little annoyed by it really .
How do you prime the pump . Fill the pump and filter with oil and bolt it on and start straight away ?
Thanks guys . I'm not wanting to touch anything in or on the quadrajet . All i want to do is get rid of the pipes and pollution crap .
With the vac advance . does it have to have constant vacuum? Or does it get different amount of vacuum that make it advance ?
I've never had to . I've bulit a few engines now ( mainly V6's ) and have never primed them . This is my 3rd holden V8 rebuild and will approach it the same way .
Hi Guys . Wanting to know which pipes i can block off on the quady ? wanting to get rid of all the pollution crap and tidy the engine bay up a little more . Heres a pic of the pipes at the front .....
the VE rims looked wicked but went with xhp krayzee's . But now i have them on my VS . So i'll have VH SL/E rims on the H again . Only until I can get another set of wheels .
No problems with the timing at all . Everything is where it's meant to be . Just a matter of fitting up the engine to the car and fingers crossed it goes first time :)
Thats what i was thinking . All i can think of now is if i spin the crank 180 to get top TDC again and all will be fine . It must be the way is gets set up . So thinking 180 turn and get it back to TDC and install the dizzy to that .
Thanks mate . We have done as said and the cam is rocking between exhaust stroke and inlet stoke . seems like the cam is 180 out ??? Or is this correct .
Hi Guys . Im currently building a black 308 into a 355 and have hit a hurdle . I have the cam in and the crank in and went to put the timing chain back on and the crank gear won't fit on (too small).does it need to be knocked on or should it slide on ? My other problem is my timing marks on the...
Well I have the block back and have the 355 crank bolted in so far . I have also fitted the conrods to the pistons . Only seem to get a few things done a day due to shift work . few pics .....
All went well mate . Yeah about an hour to do .Can pick up the tensioner for approx $90 . I changed the o-rings and the coolant . Their are 2 o-rings .one for the pipe that runs through the tensioner bracket and another at the front that needs to be removed to take the tensioner off . Very...
