    pretty easy to replace the heater tap and id fabricate a heat shield as brett did theyre usually made out of metal curved around the heater tap just make sure it doesnt hinder the tap function. (im designing one that clips on around the heater tap )

    blown seals... blown gaskets. sump plug not tight enough. depending on what type of oil it is red (trans, powersteering fluid) or brown (engine oil) theres alot of things it could be (but based on it being a VT commodore sounds like the rear main seal they're notorious for leakage.)

    Yeah, i would suggest instead of using smd's if you wanted to do this i would go with 3mm led's 5000 mcd for the AC controls and one 5 MM led ive only got a 1500 mcd on mine could do with a 5000mcd or more i picked mine up from jaycar for about 3.65 each then you take the dome top off of them...

    But if you think about it spending that little extra on demineralised water will make the coolant last a little longer..... you dont need to trust the mains watersupply to be clean and its often got that many chemicals in it that well are safe for human consumption might not be safe for a cars...

    smd's i find give a broader light source but you need some fairly high MCD strength ones. with a bit of luck it comes in today and then it will go straight in after a cooling system flush.

    yeah i looked at a seal kit and then a new radiator and with time factored in and the guy teling me that the sucess rate hes seen was 99% fail.... i decided it would be best to get a new radiator which should come in today and im using Tectaloy Xtra Cool Gold which is supposed to treat 15 litres...
