    Speedo not working

I have checked the speedo cluster, the KM gears is moving smoothly and doubled checked everything inside, lubed it and looks fine. Since my speed alert doesn't show the speed, I'll be checking the speed sensor next, if not I'll get another cluster and check it. Thanks for the help.

I have a problem with my speedo, my K's counter wasn't counting so I changed the little 'cog' gear in the speedo, put everything back on all connected up, and now the K's aint counting still, my speedo doesn't work, I tried using the speed alert to check my speed and that doesnt work aswell (the...

    LPG Conversion

I want to convert the Commodore to gas, as I do 850k's a week going and coming from work and filling at around $1.55 is adding up! Any recommended companies, mechanics in the Sydney/Wollongong area that do gas conversions? Thanks

    Omg Ve Sgts

Yep, Walkinshaw's super charger most probably, they also put a supercharge badge on the left side of the front grill and, doesnt void your warranty. I think its the Eaton superchargers (correct me if I'm wrong)?

    VR with Stage fright

It'll cost you a bit to fix the CAS (yet alone the CAS itself is approx. $80), because the harmonic balancer has to be removed.

    Where can you buy these?

I've seen a brand new bumper (not sure if original or aftermarket brand) for $160, I think getting one from the wreaker might be cheaper, and painted (assuming your cars white, common).

Buying VX Manual Clubby... INFO PLEASE!

The rear inner tyre wear problem was fixed when the VX Series II came out, to fix on earlier version you need a camber kit.

    Mudflaps

Yes, the car will look higher for some reason, I took them off the VR and the car looked high, I put them back on because I do country driving, the the VR/VS mudflaps (not mounded) do a pretty good job as they are very big. I dont mind the shiny logo on my rear mudflaps (VS version).

    Do I have a LSD ????

on the casing it should write 'LSD', my friends VX SS has LSD but only spins the right wheel.

Quick opinion on VZ Exec wheels

    Looks better then before.

VY Car Bra, Go or No Go?

I guess with the Bra you need mudflaps aswell, to protect the side panels from stone chips!

    What are these rims called?

very nice rims, not sure what their called though :(
  15. H

VY Car Bra, Go or No Go?

Car bras a good for long trips and unsealed roads, in city and around not worth it. I had one for the VR for long trips, since I only do city runs I sold it on ebay. An check ebay, you might pick up a second hand one, I got one for $65, and sold it for $70 2 years later, but mine was in good...

vz ss rims on vy ss?

and I reckon stick with you VYSS rims, they look bigger and better then the VZ SS.

Will VY SS tail lights fit VZ SV6

VZ SS, VZ SV6 lights should fit VY SS, VY S, VY Executive (Acclaim as well) but will not fit Calais, Berlina, HSV and thus vice versa.

    HSV 7.0L Supercar W427

The $$ is too much for a Holden, still cheaper then a BMW M3.

    Otr Cai

plus with the OTR CAI you need a mafless tune (from memory), because you removing the sensor, correct me if I'm wrong.

    help for a uk member...

VS Commodore in UK, most people are thinking whats this alien car! Good choice.

wanted more poke for a VT SS!

I reckon the full exhaust, CAI (SS inductions or ORCAI) and a nice tune will giv your car the poke without draining alot of money!
  22. H

    Dual Exhaust

seen a VY SS with that sort of setup, just dont like the 'flow' of the pipe.

    how to restore power??

Engine rebuild would bring you original power back. I have been driving my VR since pretty new, and now has 245k on the clock, I didn't feel power loss too much, this can be due to servicing every 5k, doing other stuff (like auto gear service every 40k, etc.), changing parts when they have...

    2003 Vy S Manual Vic

$16,000 sounds reasonable with the K's you got, seen VZ SV6's from around the 20K mark.

    Temp gauge

My VR when it hits 1/2 the thermo's kick, on highway normally sits on the first line and in city max 1/2. I am running a cooler thermostat (82degrees I think).

    Quick questions

Go the CAI. Cheap mod, easy to install and not sucking in cold air. Performance is minimal and fuel saving little, but much better then the jap crap pod setup!

Which spark plugs/leads and ai filter

Used Bosch Super 4 (cost $50 from Supercheap) and top gun leads, can't complain and didnt feel any power difference. I have K&N airfilter for the last 6 years, performance very minimal to none (more roar though!), recharge kit is around $30 and goes roughly 5 service intervals, so its OK value...

    vs throttle body

Yep, I have 70mm TB on my VR Auto, especially first gear is soft and shifts earlier then usual. Don't have problems with other gears though.
  29. H

    17" or 18""

As reaper said, larger tyres do wear quicker because they are softer. I have 17's (Maxxis) on mine, I do a lot of highway driving and they last rougly 30,000km, where my old 15' went easy 45,000km+ and were cheaper tp replace. I'm going to buy a VZ SS (second car for cruising), so I'm going...

    door lock sticks

My left rear door doesnt lock when it rains a lot (like we had last week), but after the car dries up its back to normal, must be some switch getting wet or something??

    Engine weight

Approx. 200kg for Ecotec (just engine), not exactly sure for V8. Just out of interest, the 7.0L LS7 engine weighs 228kg, pretty light comparing to the Ecotec + massive power.

Why not to buy a K&N filter

The only thing I like about the K&N filter is the servicablility. My K&N filters been on my car for 6 years now, I brought the recharge kit for $30 and have serviced it approx. 40k and have done 150k since I brought the filter and still in good condition. My recharge kit will do another 2...

    should i buy an SV6?

Thats means I'm a real old member hey! I have driven VZ Commodore's and there were a few recalls and were fixed under warranty, and never had a problem. I was lucky I guess, but people have different issues but the Alloytec engine is pretty good.
  34. H

    transmission cooler

I got the PWR heavy duty cooler (they didnt have anything else, though the same price as the others!), it clips on your radiator fins, take 30min's to install. You do need to take the radiator out, need some hoses and clamps (ones in the box were not adequate).

Did you check if you lens on the light aint dirty, after all those years it can get dirty.

    ouch.. i scratched my rim!

I have 17's, I have some deep scratches in one rim. I went down to Repco brought some silver touch up paint and fixed it. Yes you can still see it if you look closely, but from a distance you can tell. There are a heap of silvers around, thanks to the guy at Repco he help me pick the right one...

Power Steering Pump's are very popular item with Commodores, they just don't last. Next time I'm going to try to fit a Toyota pump as they last forever.
