Howdy - looks like the rear seal plate needs replacing(coolant leak ,checked with mirror) so out with the auto. Done a few manual gearboxes bot can anyone tell me what to do with the oil cooling line that go to radiator? The only place I can see to disconnect then is at the radiator. Any hot tips?

Want to do a comp test to find out if oil sign on no5 plug is rings or stem seals but cant get it to fit. Its a Stanley Compression tester and it seems the thread is too short to engage in the head - any hot tips? Cheers

I've put KYBs in the rear of my standard wagon - definately firmed up the back. Quite hard around town, feel alot of bumps.Really good on open road.

Anyone know if it will fit - really like the opening window in the rear tailgate. Or can the window just be fitted. Anyone know how they work with locking etc is it same lock as main ? Cheers

I'd just fill it with water until you get the leak / problem sorted out then use the correct mix

yeah cheers for the help- I was only filling it right up while I was bleeding the air out of the block.Didn't want it to run out.

Just doing a coolant flush - went to fill overflow tank to top of neck and it leaks out and holds about half looking down with a light. Is there a hole to prevent overfilling or do I have a leak? Also is there an easy way to remove it - looks like bumper may have to come off.

Does the ECU temp sender also do the temp on digital dash display - when u press mode and set and turn key on and go to "coolant temp" ? It was showing 67 degress and when I held a digital thermometer on to the outside of the thermostat housing it showed 52 degress . Close enough yeah?

Okay - I checked idler and tensioner pulley bearings and they are all free and smooth but the top idler is a little noisey . Can I just replace that one and best to get genuine one? Also any hot tips on fitting new pulleys?

My mate has a stock F6 turbo - 12 sec run with standard tyres and everything. Seems to go pretty hard off the line once the traction control sorts it **** (even when turned off!)

When I turn my lights on the heater controls remain dark until I turn heater on or dim dash lights with headight switch - also when I dim the dash lights they ramp all the way up or down with no in-between enen with a short flick of the switch. Is this normal - I think its always done this.

Factory standard springs front and rear - only replaced rear shocks.

I replaced the stock rear shocks(1 was leaking) with new KYBs and the ride seems hard as hell. I have given it a month to settle but no change - seems to feel every bump in the road. Running factory VZ Alloys - 215 60 16s at about 36PSI.

Did they have to take the head off to replace the seals? - Were you running 10/30 oil?

I'm running NGK standard with Eagle Silicon leads in my stock wagon with no problems.

So slotted rotors are noisey - and no better performance? I was thinking of getting some with Police pads next brake service. Anyone else got that set up - comments please.

Nah just the throttle - looked pretty black in the plenum but not ready to go into that.

I just replaced o2 sensors , plugs and leads on mine at 200k - didn't make much difference at all. Big improvement when I cleaned the throttle body though.

Clean the throttle body! Just gave mine the big 200K service - o2 sensors,plugs, leads , etc but the thing that made the most difference was the throttle clean. It was running fine before ( I thought) but is just way smoother now. Easy as to do - plenty of info on here.

Will standard VY executive steel wheels fit a VN?

I've had this on no.5 plug too - little black build up on white ceramic. Plugs on 1 month old , and have replaced no.5 plug again but still doing it a bit. Motor runs/idles mint! Any ideas?? When I did plugs I also did O2 sensors and just replaced leads today. Done 200,000 km

Yeah I think so - only had for bout a year but last owner gave me full service history - didn't see anything about O2 sensors. Also I did the fuel filter about 6 months ago with the brake fluid.

My stock V6 VY wagon is about to hit the big 200k so looking at giving it a bit of a birthday. So far I'm thinking engine oil,trany flush, coolant flush , diff oil, spark plugs , O2 sensors . Brake fluid done 6 months ago and I have a K&N so thats all good. Anything else that I should be doing??

Howdy - I think this is common to all cars that the air smells coming out of the vents after the A/C is turned off. I believe the evaporator needs a clean, with bacteria etc in the ducts. I have seen a spray can to fix it but does it work? Also is giving the evap a good old clean a DIY job if...

Wot are the holes that are capped off in front of the chassis rails for - I doubt you would get driving lights in there. I have found one cap missing - is it an easy thing to get?? Just go to Holden??? Its an 03 Excec Wagon.

How do you replace the brake fluid - I hear it should be done every 2 years. Is it just a case of bleeding it through to the furtherist caliper( left rear) - can you just pump it through or do you need to close the bleed nipple every time???
