Was wondering if there was some marking on the diff housing that said if was LSD or not. From memory the Turbo diffs are LSD, but this one doesn't behave as such, unless its worn out and needs a reco.

Ahh cool. With the brake kit, whats the smallest rim size you can go with? Currently its got 17" rims. Also, how hard is to identify VL diffs? Its a wagon and its got rear disc brakes.

Sorted. It was the starter. Just my luck both starters I had were dud, and by chance found a jap wrecker and picked up another starter for $80. Thanks for the help guys. Cheers, Dave

Nah not yet. The battery from the SS doesnt help, as in problem still exists, so Im sure I can rule out the battery causing the problem. That leaves it down to the wiring itself (not just connections), the starter or the alternator. So tomorrow I'll replace the wiring from the battery to both...

I checked over all the connection points, earths, alternator charge wire and starter terminal - all are good. Put new battery terminals on and cleaned up the posts. Didn't make a difference. I'll try a known good battery (from the SS) when I get home this arvo.

Its just a single click, sounds like the solenoid making the starter gear engage and disengage, but only the one click until i key off and try again, but still only one click each time. Yeah, I'll go over all the cables and clean up the connections when i get home. I'll let you know how i go

I haven't tried starting with any lights on so I'm not sure if the dash dims or not. Only thing on the dash i notice is the volt meter sits roughly around the 13-14V mark with the key switched to ON, then it will dip all they way down to 8 when trying to restart and i get the 'dead battery...

Hey, I just installed a VN ECU and MEMCAL into my VR as it had died. The VN ECU works ok, but it takes a few turns of the key to start up. Is there anything else I need to do, other that just plugging it in? Cheers, Dave
