    Not entirely accurate, because along with that you will need an exhaust upgrade, a clutch upgrade and lots of tuning. Maybe a CAI, intercooler etc... The manual gearboxes aren't the toughest things either, and the Diff will eventually go... Not to mention the added wear on the engine...

    timing chains tend to rattle a fair bit? moreso at low revs though :( otherwise see if an oil change helps, if it doesn't you've isolated the fault as being in the gearbox. From that point, take it to a pro, because auto gearboxes are a complicated item, they should be able to help

It's fairly common to have oil coming through your breather pipe, though thick black oil is never a good thing, it "may" indicate lack of oil changes...

    Don't be dumb... I said very basic terms, obviously there's more to it... but the math is the same. IF: at 2000rpm you make 300NM AND: at 4000rpm you are still making exactly 300NM Your "HP" output will be exactly double at 4000rpm... make sense? unfortunately torque is not...

    That's not entirely true, in (very basic) terms, torque x Revs = HP. Generally providing your clutch is in good order and changes are smooth, the higher rpm u can change, the better. So you might as well max it out... Beware of overheating with commodores under high load at the track...

    water pumps go on the alloytecs all the time, you'll see a drip down the front of yout engine where the pump is. Happened to mine, similar symptoms

    Real Mature... The Alloytecs are very difficult to get going, this we all agree on to an extent. They are also very difficult to tune and play with. (and i'm finding out for myself, I still don't beleive it's possible to just "transfer a tune over from a VE", but i CBS aruing with you)...

    firstly, mucking around with vcm suite is not going to change the timing of the cams, because theyre done with timing chains..... and it's not going to change the profile of the cam lobes either... so that's rubbish... And secondly, you can't run a "heavily modified VE SV6 tune on your 175kw...

    i only know that the first problem is caused by either a faulty or not plugged in vacuum hose, its a really small hose that comes out of your firewall in the engine bay, but i only know where in the VZs. It may or may not affect problem number 2. so im not much help :)
