98 Octane in WM Caprice V8

I honestly find my car runs better on 98, generally speaking. Much of my driving involves freeways and rural driving, frequently up at 100kph. I get roughly a 5-10% increase in fuel economy on 98 vs standard 91.

Well, the 32GB is already sold out. Something Google really need to do is realise that people actually want this phone lol.

    Nexus 5

Having used both Samsung and pure Android. I can say the biggest issue I had was TouchWiz, which annoys the hell out of me. If you're ok with the interface, and can afford it, the Note 3 is the better phone - but it's an entirely different price point. The Nexus 5 is excellent bang for buck...

The Death of the Holden Ute 2016

Give it 50 years, they probably will be rare and sort after. Not sure on sales for the ute itself, but there were some 3/4 of a million Commodores sold VT-VZ. There must be tens of thousands of them out there.

    VE Wipers

You don't need to replace the arm. You'll see little prongs either side of the mount, squeeze these inwards and pull the wiper away from the arm itself. The wipers should be pulled off in the direction of the passenger side. They were $87.45 from my local Holden for the set. I find that you...

    Automatic Transmission Service $$$ ?

Mine would have been $150 with labour. As I understand it, they flush it out and seal her back up. No real difference in feel of the car, but my gearbox really hasn't had a hard life. You're more looking after it, than improving.

VE SS stability control turning itself off. Please help.

I had this problem, turned out to be the air flow meter was cooked. The same fault appeared in my Dad's car. Replaced that, issue resolved.

How many K's has your car done?

My VE Omega was bought Apr last year just shy of 100,000km. Today reads just shy of 152,000km. Right now I'm doing about 1200km per week just commuting to work, invariably I end up doing some 1400km per week.

Tyre Advice for 16" Stock Rims

Hi Guys, Ok, so I am in the market for a new set of tyres for the VE. It's just the standard 16 inch rim, unfortunately most threads were about people who had 19 inch or higher rims. Currently I am running Turanza ER300's which were on the car since I bought it. Which means I've pulled...

Windows 8 Metro UI, Thumbs up/down? Your thoughts

Windows 8 is fine... with a touch screen. I've played with a few touchscreen laptops running, and I loved it. Nothing wrong with it. I think Windows 8 is a bit of a midway point to where we will be in a few more years.

What's a good free satelite site?

Near map isn't satellite, they use low altitude aerial shots to get that high resolution. I'm trying to find a good one too, but I got no ideas as yet.

My 2001 Holden WH Statesman Series 2

Damn! I mean... congrats, glad you got a decent smack of money for it ;) I tell you what though, the price has fallen off the planet lately for those, zero demand for them. How goes the other 3 odd cars you have?

    Ufo's in the neighbourhood?

no evidence suggests there life else where, its just a chance game. considering kepler has discovered around 3000 earth sized planets orbiting in or around the goldy locks zone in our so to speak " back yard " the chances are good, pretty dam good I think there is perfect evidence. It's on...

    Ufo's in the neighbourhood?

I've spent my entire life staring into the black void, astronomy is a love and passion of mine - there is nothing I would want to see more than an alien spacecraft. However, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, this is not. The more you know about the sky, the more stuff...

buying advice, how many K's are too many?

My 07 Omega had 100,000km when I got it,only fault so far has been the MAF and an alternator. Both you can put down to luck of the draw rather than wear and tear. General rule is 20,000km per year, don't want too little Km's for the age, otherwise you know its been sitting still for a long time...

    VE ESP issue.

Just updating this in case someone gets the same fault. Basically my Dad's car got the same problem, the solution was a new MAF and a software update. Side note, my alternator was dead as well. These faults were determined by my local mechanic (whom we have been to for years) and my local...

    Which tablet to buy ?

Fair point mate, and that's basically my old man's logic with his 10inch tablet - 90% of the time he is own the couch and doesn't care. Either way, you made a good choice (IMO) at a good price - hope you enjoy it :)

    Which tablet to buy ?

For screen size, 10 inch tablets are great on that fact. However, they are heavy. I find the lightness of the 7 makes it worth it.
