    Alpine Type S speakers

Yep, I've got 6" (6.5") Type S in all the doors and they sound fantastic for the price. Very impressed. Can send you pics of the install if you like.

Hey there, Just come across a few of your stereo install pics and have a quick question for you. I want to buy the same in-dash double din h/unit you have (tired of single din) however the deal maker/breaker for me is the steering wheel controls. Do you have yours connected? If so, did you...

Ve-ss custom illuminated door scuff plates

I think in RED and not so bright (those blue ones are a 'light' rather than a 'glow' IMO) they could look kinda good in the "SS" logo....?

My VY ute s2. HSV MOCK UP

Loving it, Really coming along!! Way much $$ spent for a daily :P And I have 235/45/R17 "Triangles" on my car... feel the same way, what a heap of ******! I'm leaving them on until I get the 19's, no point buying another set for the 17's at this stage. They've started to 'heel-toe' already...

    Removing VY/VZ door trim

Just want to say thanks... because of this thread, all my doors now have new Alpine's in under 20mins per door (except for the first one, about 45mins to make sure I didn't miss anything). Great descriptions and great pics... thanks heaps. For the above question of the door lock staying down...

"cheers for the info mate, i bought the double din surround and the plugs i just need to save up for the hu and speakers.. might put 6x9s in the parcel shelf rather then the speakers in the rear doors" no probs. The Calais has 2x 8" Subs on the parcel shelf, hence leaving them and replacing all...

Carlton's white vy ute ss take a look

I kinda like the orange badges... (I ride KTM's :P) But don't think much of the chev sticker on the window, makes it look too cluttered. I'm normally not a fan of 'racing stripes', but for some reason I LOVE these!!!! And the black wheels are awesome!! Nice work!

Yeah, I got an alpine headunit first, but the sound was really washed out, and because the new h/u was more powerful, there was A LOT of difference between volume settings, it was either quiet or loud. So I bought the speakers to eliminated that issue, which it did. What was a good listening...

Cheers, but only 18's or 19's. It's a daily driver so tyre cost will kill me with 19's or bigger :(

New install Update on the calais: Not a lot has changed, but I have managed to swap out the speakers in the doors. Was easy enough to do, I've never taken apart anything except for the centre console in the VZ, but after the first door, we had the rest done properly, with wires soldered and...

Youtube.com and the like videos. - KEEP IT LEGAL PLEASE!

New Vid made today Hey all, this is my first attempt at stop motion. 2sec intervals, 4600 photos in 3:03secs @ 25fps. Shot on Go Pro HD, re-rendered in Photoshop and resized by Vimeo so quality is less than desirable but you get the idea. Let me know what you think. Cheers, Aaron...

Update Quick update for you all. the stock 6 stacker shite itself yesterday and munched all of my cd's, called the dealer, got me to take it into an audio place. They said $300 to send it away for repair, so I approached the dealer and, after a few hours of calls back and forth, they're giving...

Calais abs message and bulb fail.

hmmm, ok, might go over all of the connections with WD40 on the weekend and make sure they're all good. At this rate, looks like I'll just spend the weekend going over and servicing every little thing on the car. MAybe a little TLC is all it needs. ;) cheers Stealth - Do you get the abs...

Calais abs message and bulb fail.

Ahh ok, thanks Amy, confirmed. I'll buy a new batt on the weekend and try that first. I'd take it to the dealer and get it done under warranty, but they'll put something dodgy in there. So, do it myself and I'll report back. Is it worth putting a bigger (more cca's) battery in do you think? or...

Calais abs message and bulb fail.

Hmmm, never thought of that. I'll throw a known good battery in it first and see what happens. If no go, then I'll have the Holden guys diag it. If that's the case, I'll get them to diag it, then take it back to my dealer (not holden) and get it in for warranty. They send it to Holden anyway...

Calais abs message and bulb fail.

Yeah has the std 3 month stat warranty and i bought a 3 yr extended manufacturer warranty also. So hopefully I'll be covered regardless. But wan't it sorted asap. I'll book it in at Holden. Cheers.

Calais abs message and bulb fail.

Howdy all, I have a VZ Calais. When I start the car (while its turning over), I get 3 beeps and Faulty ABS on dash. But goes out once the car has started. The system check says OK. Also, pulled up to work this morning and get the error, "Rear brake bulb fail"..... Checked lights, all...

True, but 'some people' don't own the car, I do... :P And as it's individual letters, it can stay, major CBF syndrome with that sort of s**t It's a real Calais and thats all that counts. Thanks all for the comments. :)

thanks for the heads up, the air freshener is gone already tho, as has the dealer sticker on the rear window. As for the Calais badge, not sure what happened there, but wasn't done by me. Maybe a respray, not sure, not fussed either. I kinda like it there.

I might just be interested in those wheels phatsix.... Depends on what the ones on the car are like, as when I signed the deal it had ghey alloys (see above pics) on it and I asked the dealer to swap them back. So the orig's might be dodgy/scratched. I'll have a look on pickup today and let you...

you will have to excuse my repetitive questions... BUT, isn't 235 and 245 the width of the tyre... not the height? I was thinking 19x245x35 or go down to 18x245x40. Ahh this is waaay to confusing for me. Going to give it to the pro's and tell them what i want, if it looks off, they don't get...

    Oil Filter Change

I used to work in bikes and have never oiled the thread, only the o'ring, as per their service manuals. And any car I have changed the oil on has been the same... However, I clearly stand corrected. Apologies.
  35. aj1987

    Oil Filter Change

As stated above.... No threads, no drowning, no pre-oil, just a little to make the o'ring not catch.

    VZ SV6-Indicator blub melting

Sounds to me like you have an earth problem. I'd check your + and - wires ti the indicator and trace them back, see if you can find a short, maybe to a wire for another light or something?

Thanks heaps!!! 19x8's it is. Now to pick a style... hmmm... choices choices. I have heard about the rubbing thing before, but will prb never hit full lock and if it's not damaging the tyre then it should be sweet for the odd touch. Now to figure out what springs to put in, i want it neat, NOT...

Thanks Stealth. Still yet to pick the bloody thing up. Think the part must be on backorder or something, nevermind. Dealer said should be Tuesday. Do you have any pics of your HID install? Also does anyone know if I can fit 19x8's on a VZ? Will drop to 18x7.5's if I have to but rather not...

    Oil Filter Change

Yeah, just dip your finger in the fresh oil and run it around the o'ring on the new filter. Don't need to drown it, just so that it slides into place when your spinning the filter on. Otherwise they can catch, stretch and sometimes split. So yeah, just a little to lube it up and make it glide...
