At the end of the day its not a race car where you need to squeeze every last kw out of it. I would make them so its easy to work on the car. eg don't have to remove the manifolds to change spark plugs ect. just my 2 cents.

As long as its Obd2 it will work. Obd1 or ALDL will not work with the Ls1

The reason i ask about the scan tool is that people see that the V6's have an OBD2 plug and assume that it is OBD2 protocol but in fact they use ALDL protocol with an OBD2 plug.

As above it has a locating lug on the inside if you twist it to much you will break it then you will need a new knob. Just pull straight up with lots of force and when it lets go try not to smash yourself in the face.

The ball joint tops are the way to go for longevity. the OME style tend to blow out the bottom bushes if you hit a big pot hole/Bump.

Agree with above. The 1st stop with moden cars in trying to ID problems should always be a scan tool, then if no faults codes you can strat changing parts out relavent to said problem.You dont have to take it to holden to have it scanned there are plenty of other places that can do it.

You need to get it tuned it wont run very well on the stock tune, which you have found out. I know nothing about the 5L tunning wise, so cant help out there, if it was a LS1 we could talk :) I'm sure someone will be along to help out.

Check your PCV hose for a split this can cause uneven idle. its normally splits at the 'Y' piece.

AFAIK bank 1 is the bank that has the number one cylinder so that would be left side/passenger side. IMO o2 sensors should both/all be changed at the same time. I wouldn't bother keeping any of the old ones.
