    Scary moment in my Ute.....

Might also be worthwhile seeing a Diff Shop and getting a price from them. Not standard in the low end ones I assume My VS (00) came with a single spinner. Put the LSD in it later on (and then a rebuilt one from a shop another time). Out of curiosity, what would happen if you were to drag the...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

As someone who gets to see alot of analytics and numbers in the background, there is going to be a need for baseload and peaking power. Heres the problem, the solar farms and similar and having to be built away from suburbia. (financial and space reasons) The big loads are often city centres and...

Bought some pies for dinner from a real country shop. All home made and super delicious. I'm upset and annoyed I didn't buy extras. Need to figure out next time we go past that place again.

Things That Leave you Gobsmacked (In A Good Way)

Got and installed a solar powered sensor floodlight for the G'ma as she wanted something for the entryway. Wasn't expecting too much from it honestly. Saw it tonight in action. It was like daylight! No missing the step or not being able to find the lock with keys anymore. Pleasantly surprised...

Circuit for the device is getting there. Its all scribbled out. makes sense. Layout is all sorted, everything is all set. Battery/Short test button. Known good Value Test Button. The old man always says to me to go fill up because of the cycles. But i work in the country. It literally hasnt changed in months. So i fill up in the country on the way to work, dont worry about the cycles as they are fairly priced. And i mostly ignore the city/suburbs price cycle.

I've got a few of those multifunction devices, they work well, but this needs to be a fairly "dumb" device. Yeah it's the tolerances and selection of the components. Basically I'm trying to figure out the component values to give the values I need/want. But I think because it's such a small...

how reliable is a L98 vz ss thunder engine? and how to make it more reliable?

There's a bunch of them on carsales right now. Depends on where you are but there are plenty in the lower to mid 20s with alot less kms. You're better off spending a few thou more on something with half the kms. and looking at the condition of them rather than just price. Have a Thunder myself...

It's a 9vdc battery supply. It's using a 0-1ma meter with a shunt circuit (so another leg in para). It's for a purely resistive set up. Aim is to use the 1ma meter, replace the face with a go/no go type face. I've got the design of another set up which uses a similar principle except for a...

Trying to figure out and do the maths behind making a test meter for a specific resistance (+/- a bit) while still being able to make it read if there are issues. It's annoying and the page is already full of calcs and ideas.

what did you do to your car today?

Just grab some spare trophies and hand them out to people that complain. If they are that desperate for some plastic then let them have it (And watch the world burn!) When I drive my toy to any show or similar most people mistake what it is, until a few (if any really) realise what it actually...

    EV cars.

This place has been doing a bit in the Trucking side of it. The part I'm confused by is it a refit of the driveline or built from factory as if it was the first bit then it seems wasteful? https://www.sea-electric.com/en_au/ They certainly have a place. Ie an electric Bucket Truck. No noisy...

    EV cars.

Last trip to NZ we had a Kia Nero. As we were staying in a country town with lots of small runs or at most say 20km to the next town, it was brilliant. Loved the no cranking to start and all that. Only the longer drives caused a small bit of anxiety. I'd be tempted to suggest a small EV to the...

    Grass is always greener.........

I'd have to agree with Ginger. Unless you almost want to be paranoid a runabout it a must have if owning special cars, unless Dollars can basically be of no concern for fixing and keeping tidy. The old VS ute is basically the daily work horse now. It was the "baby" and treated nice. 10 years...

If I remember correctly from a mates info (lived between NZ and Aus). Nz rego was set up via a scheme that self funded, does the TAC stuff and everything. A bit like Politicians Super here in Aus. As such it's been able to stay low for a long time.

what did you do to your car today?

Yup, that's the thing. Nothing shows up. See orange light flash on dash (vs) when it cuts out randomly at speed then goes away. Hasnt happened for a while though. Missing under heavier load, so ease into the bigger hills and AC off. Hard to start and sometimes no luck at starting at all when...

    Help Identifying wheels ?

VY GTS/SV6000 style is a favourite (Biased. Have some) Same as the HBD W series (17s 5 spoke), biased as have a set, can't find pics of them easily. One that I have never seen is from the Coupe 4. 5 spoke rocket ships. You're all right. So many good designs.

Thanks guys. For sure it's a deep dive down the rabbit hole at times. And much research is going to be had on a wide variety of topics. The hard drive and solid state drive was just an example, but one I've gone back to at times. Had another read up on it tonight, it sounds like what I'm...

    Lets talk VS brake upgrades

Decent looking set up. Spewing they don't fit a 17 as would definitely consider them behind the HBD W series. See I find the VS (basic Ute) to do alright by simply having better Pads and Rotors. Had T3s now have T2s and they do alright. Find them good compared to the standard style on the VZ...

Yeah, Ive got a reasonable set up from either Jaycar or Altronics. Variable temps and all that. Or the good Gas Irons for remote works. Vz maloo

so SVS isn't a normal code you can read with an OBD2 scanner. it requires a Tech 2 (or a clone of such) to be able to read it. It is classed as a "non emissions related fault" or something to that effect. I'm in a similar situation (although one day will get the tech 2 bit sorted) whereby it...

What did you do in the shed or garage today

Well the electronics geekery played up. The timer was using a few chips as the switch which I think internally cooked themselves. Had another set up which had an actual relay on it instead. And worked just as intended after rejigging to suit a different layout. So managed to turn a 24v system...

More electronics geekery. Made a timer system more permanent and got all the links and wires all prepped for an install. 30mins now in the shed means about 2 minutes install in the field all labelled and propped.
