It needs to be done when the car is faulting or it's pointless, it's clearly an intermittent issue that can't be replicated at the dealership. If they are so confident it's the chains say do the chains, if it doesn't fix it I'm not paying a cent.

I think the issue is that the D panel under the front fascia used to have a gap between it and the subframe on VE which allowed airflow through to the sump, the VF D panel closes up that gap so with the splash tray on there is zero airflow to the engine at the bottom.
