    400 kw vy ss

Can't really answer your question sorry, just a correction. An r32 skyline is a straight six not a 4 cyl (unless for some strange reason it has been converted to a 4)

    [Other] Which tools are best?

I work full time in a mechanical workshop. I have found Kinchrome ratchet spanners to be very good, there ratchets and sockets seem pretty good. But there normal spanners are crap. They seem to have make some alright tools and some shitty ones. I now use Snap-On open end spanners. Thought I...

anyone else all find all the Melbourne cup fuss BORING?

Not really fussed with horse racing. Just enjoy the day off to do whatever you want. For me that was recovering from a good monday night :)

[Question] AU twin thermos in a vn v6

Too true ^^ If your vn v6 is getting too hot, something in the cooling system is not functioning correctly, not it needs upgrading. My VN V6 is a daily and the only time it has ever overheated is when I had a dodgy hose clamp on the bottom radiator hose and I lost all my coolant. Has been in...

VT Commodore brake rotor change gone wrong.

Has one of the balance weights fallen off the wheels when you removed them? Has happened to me

    What's your favorite motor?

Can't say anything about newer LS series motors but the earlier ones were de-tuned. I have been told this by a bloke who has worked at holden for more then 10 years. What incentive would they have you ask? For one, so its easier and cheaper to give the HSV versions more Kilowatts. For example...

    L98 into my VN

Haha that's a good way to put it. I can't offer any tips sorry but I would love to know when you find out roughly how much (in parts, labour cost is me) this conversion would cost as I would love to do this to my vn when I get off my p's and if the budget allows.

Nice ride! I am jelious. I would love an r32.

    another oil thread

I am a Penrite fan, I would recommend Penrite Hpr 10. Which is a 10w-50 full synthetic. Although I also think the Nylon would be just as good in quality but the Penrite 10-50 doesn't thin out as much at high temps. (thats the extra ten in the second number).

Diff and manual transmission oil which one?

Do Royal Purple not have a lube guide on their website? Most other oil manufactures seem to.

Cheaper option for machining ve wheels

Yep. In Victoria anyway. Unless they came out from factory on that car (for example older 911 Porsche)

    Commodore wheel bearings

If they have gotten to the stage of being noisy they definately will need replacing. Just pull the rotors off. Punch the old bearing cones out. Clean everything properly. Tap new cones in. Pack new bearings with wheel bearing grease and re-install. Sorry would be more detailed but I am doing...

Nylon sump plug washer - VX Commodore

Although I should add they can get quite tight. If I feel its real tight then use a single hex socket and breaker bar. Which it sounds like you haven't been.

Nylon sump plug washer - VX Commodore

Somethings wrong if its leaking every time. I have done oil changes in literally hundreds of ecotec motors using the alloy washer every time. Never had to 'over tighten' them and never had one leak on me.

question about ur fuel to distance

460km,s easy, and that's not long trips haven't tested that yet. Will go to 480 or 490 if I run it to dead empty (as in car conking out haha). That is with the 63 litre tank running BP Ultimate 98 octane

Hard Braking = Vibrations through pedal and audible from front of car

Machine the front disc rotors if the they have enough thickness on them Edit: actually re read your thread, actually sounds more like abs coming on. If the disc rotors need machining they will also start to vibrate at moderate levels of braking also

    Sv6 thunder ute traction control

You have grip! Isn't this a good thing? (if the car is for the street) Amm maybe some ve steel wheels and shitty tyres would do it. I wouldn't imagine the ve 6 would be good for burnouts anyway because the motor is made for higher end torque. Is the motor running fine? Like clean fuel filter, no...

rounded torque bolt on a manual gearbox

Can you hammer a slightly smaller double hex socket onto it or isn't there enough room? Actually first try using a single hex socket if you aren't already

    No traction

No LSD is all about more traction. +1 for getting a LSD. What brand are the tyres? Because you can still have 100% tread and shitty traction from crappy tyres. And maybe learn how to take off better because it would be a tad harder in a lightweight Ute

    speed sensitive steering rack problem

Been awhile since I have done one but down on the rack you will see the speed sensitive control unit thing. Looks kinda like an oil pressure switch with a two wire plug going into the back of it. Undo this. It is a bit of a pain to get onto and you can really only use open end spanners but it...

Whats better? Ecotec or Alloytec V6????

Alloytec: Definately smoother, more economical. More powerful. More expensive to work on. But it is also just that little bit more a 'throw away' engine like most cars are nowadays. (as in cheaper to replace then repair). Ecotec(v6): In my opinion more reliable both from new, and down the track...

Do i need charcoal cannister on vn v8

You can block off where the lines go into the throttlebody and it will run fine. It is a legal requirement to have it there though as then you will just be venting fuel vapour into the atmosphere

    5l to ls1 conversion I'm my vs s3

    smoking

Being strong with yourself and start cutting down slowly. I only smoked for a couple of years (i'm 20) and still took me a good year of cutting down on/off smoking till I quit completly. I still get cravings but just be strong with your mind.

    contemplating buying a VN...

^ dude no need to yell. Vn is quite a good car and the fact they are basic makes them reliable and easy to mod/work on. I would recommend them. Just keep in mind because they are getting on in age bits and pieces will be wearing out.

Magnets on Oil Filter + Pics

They are are also 'high performance , high flow' I don't know if I could trust a high flow filter to stop as much fine metal as a genuine filter. Please correct me if I am wrong, would love to hear from someone who has properly these filters against each other on a test bench or something.
