Will Commodore instrument cluster fit a Monaro V2?

I've got a reconditioned VZ cluster on its way to me, as well as a second hand VY unit - hopefully one of them will be ok :)

Will Commodore instrument cluster fit a Monaro V2?

Just to be clear - my car is a Monaro, essentially, just badged Lumina. The cluster in the photo is the one in the car.

    Fuel guage

On the rare occasions that we see temperatures below 15C here, my fuel, temp gauges and speedo all read zero until the electronics have warmed up a bit. I reckon that it's a faulty solder joint in the instrument cluster, which closes up as it warms up

Will Commodore instrument cluster fit Monaro V2?

It looks most like a VY cluster - although some have the single window, others seem to have 3 LCDs - one in the centre, and another under each of the the fuel and temperature gauges This is the one in my car, and you can see what has happened to the LCD panel.

Will Commodore instrument cluster fit a Monaro V2?

I live in Abu Dhabi, where the Monaro was sold as a Chevrolet Lumina Coupe but it is basically just a LHD Holden (same goes for the Commodore, sold as Lumina saloon). My 2004 LumiNaro's LCD display on the instrument cluster has bled out and is unreadable now, thanks to heat damage. Spares are...

    Parts compatibility VY to V2

Yes, it's the instrument cluster not stereo (I junked that a long time ago :) ). We use km/h here, so of course my locally supplied car and the donor would be the same in that respect

    Parts compatibility with V2 Monaro

My 2004 Monaro V2 3.8 (badged Chevy Lumina here in Abu Dhabi) needs a replacement for the LCD info screen in the instrument pod as the crystals have bled out. Used parts are hard to come by here, by I should be able to get parts from a VT-VX Commodore. Can anyone tell me if they will fit or if...

Remote Start - has anyone ever fitted one?

I meant "I asked here because a search on the forum brought up no forum posts" so I was looking for direct feedback on their fitment to Commodores or Monaros. Thanks for the link, though. I had searched eBay, Amazon etc and there are so many systems, with a mixture of positive and negative...

Remote Start - has anyone ever fitted one?

Well, the reason I asked the question was that when I did a search for it I got NO hits at all

Does anyone know what the Lumina trim level is?!!!

Here in the UAE, the Lumina is just the Commodore/Monaro with different badges and left hand drive. If you look to the left you will see my 2002 Lumina S Coupe (3.8 V6, Monaro V2 with no supercharger). The coupe just came as S (V6) and SS (V8) The yellow aeroplane is a Russian Antonov An2, BTW

I'll take that as a "no" then :)

Remote Start - has anyone ever fitted one?

I'm interested in hearing if anyone has fitted a remote start system to a Commodore or Monaro. I drive 2004 Monaro CV6 auto (badged as a Chevrolet Lumina here in Abu Dhabi) and would like to be able to start it remotely so that the aircon can kick in to take the sting out of the all-black...

    American VY

Same here - although mine is a coupe so is a Monaro CV6 with Chevy badges I've never seen a car such as that being used as a taxi here in the UAE - the vast majority are Toyota Camrys. We did get the Statesman - badge as the Chevrolet Caprice.

VY2 Berlina Wagon - H11 Low beam is a POS! :( Better bulb advice PSE?

Good quality (EBC) pads and (Raybestos) discs

VY2 Berlina Wagon - H11 Low beam is a POS! :( Better bulb advice PSE?

I have to wonder why these cars seem so prone to warped discs - both of my Monaros had warped discs when I bought them, despite having plenty of metal left, and now the current car is starting to suffer again after just 2 years

VY2 Berlina Wagon - H11 Low beam is a POS! :( Better bulb advice PSE?

Would an aftermarket HID kit be legal for the low beam in Nannystate Ozland? I have projector headlights on my "Monaro" and as long as you choose the right temperature bulbs, they give a lovely crisp, white light. With the lovely, white lowbeam, I can live with the crappy yellowish high beam...

    V2 Monaro spare wheel.

My space saver is now about 15 years old and has spent practically every single minute of that time sitting in the spare wheel well, as far as I can tell. Out of the sunlight, so not exposed to UV radiation, or road use, I'm convinced that if I need to use it, it will do the job for me.

Monaro V2 commonality with Pontiac GTO

Thank you, that pretty much matches what I was expecting. Routine maintenance stuff is readily avail (pads, discs, filters etc) but the rest can either be hard to find or expensive. We use kph here - essentially, it's pure Aussie Monaro with the steering wheel on the wrong side :)

Monaro V2 commonality with Pontiac GTO

Absolutely, although apart from steering rack, some of the wiring loom and the dashboard there's not a massive difference in the majority of cases. Of course, with the UAE being a left-hand drive market, my car's commonality with the USA is better :) Thinking also of V6 vs V8, there's the...

Monaro V2 commonality with Pontiac GTO

I'm running a 2003 Chevrolet Lumina coupe here in the United Arab Emirates (naturally aspirated Monaro CV6 with different badges) and spare parts can be a bit awkward to get hold of, unless I want to pay stupidly expensive dealer prices. Now,we know that the V8 version of the Monaro was sold...

    Wk Caprice Driveline Shudder

I'm getting a driveline shudder from my 2003 Monaro CV6 - worse under load and judders when accelerationg through 20kph and 40kph but at no other time. It feels like a brief, banging sensation from under the rear - as if something is bouncing up and down. The centre bearing and rubber doughnut...

VY instrument pod into V2 - will it go?

Thanks. My dials are km/h, so that's what I would need (it's handy that Aus uses metric units). After doing further reading after making my post, I've come to the conclusion that I may be best to buy a cluster on ebay, get it sent to someone like Envyous for reprogramming and then get it sent...

VY instrument pod into V2 - will it go?

Hi. I'm running a left hand drive 2003 V2 Monaro CV6 auto (although here in the United Arab Emirates it's badged as a Chevrolet Lumina Coupe) and while it's a superb machine all round, it does have a couple of problems. One of these is that the LCD screen on the instrument binnacle has bled...

V2 (and VY?) cabin filter/pollen filter

I've bought another Lumina Coupe/Monaro so I'll have to do this mod on that one, too. It's a bit hot at the moment (tail end of an Arabian Gulf summer) and I have a broken aircon compressor on my Saab 9-3 that has a higher priority

V2 (and VY?) cabin filter/pollen filter

I did fit a PAC adaptor which converts the output from the standard stereo controls into an IR signal for the stereo. I never did get it working properly but that was because there was a fault with the actual steering wheel controls. I have recently sold the car and bought another Jeep - the...

Vibration while Braking - that old story!

One thought - if you have to remove the discs, mark their position on the hub to ensure that they go back in the same place. Also, you may find that you can get things like brake parts from RockAuto Auto Parts and get them shipped in at a reasonably sensible overall cost. I know that Monaro...

Urgent Help needed a post from Saudi Arabia :-)

Mechanical parts should be easy enough to get hold of in Saudi - I have no trouble here in the UAE. Mechanically it's standard GM stuff, so any decent supplier of US auto parts should be able to get them.

Brown slime on my radiator cap

Mine does the same - no noticeable coolant loss, no oil in coolant, no "mayonnaise" on the oil cap or radiator cap. I just wipe it up every few thousand KM and carry on driving the car.

But that wasn't a problem caused by the shocks, was it? It was oversized wheels that were issue.

Tips for travelling with mans best friend

That's a tough call - the "politicians" here don't even know how to spell "Civil Liberties", let alone do it! That's why we get paid silly money to tolerate the "system".

what oil in a vy v6?

Interesting - assuming that this is an Ecotec engine, like my Monaro CV6, that's a completely different specification from the one in my owners handbook which is 20w50.
