    lowering a VT

Zero truth to that. But the larger the overall rolling diameter of the wheel AND tyre the worse the scrubbing will be. Even stock rims with high profile tyres still scrub out...just not quite as quick.

    Factory SC Boost

No the XU6 was only 6 also. All L67's were fitted with the 3.8" pulley.

    Factory SC Boost

As slundy said...6 psi. I have seen some quote only 5 but mine was 6 when stock.
  4. SUPERV6

Do standard supercharged V6 get bettter fuel economy than natural aspirated V6 ?

Drive both EXACTLY the same and the L67 WILL give you better fuel economy. A lot of fuel consumption quotes don't take into account the body style of the vehicle that the engine is fitted in. For example L67 and Ecotecs were fitted right through VS-VY with varying luxury (mass) levels. Its...

    VX Supercharged Mods

Electric aerial was only standard when a CD player was fitted. However I DONT have a CD player but DO have an electric (factory) aerial. So it can be done no probs ;)

    S/C V6 Power

The rev bouncing isn't usually apparent on stock super6's. It only seems to become apartent once a half decent exhaust is fitted plus you can tend to actually hear it once a decent/noisy exhaust is fitted. 186 kw with your mods would be at flywheel and not at rear wheels. RWKW would be around...

    unleaded or premium unleaded

Precisely the TRUTH. Standard comp ratio ECOTECs only need REGULAR Unleaded Standard S/C (L67)with no boost upgrades are happy with PULP 95/96 RON BOOSTED and modded S/C's (L67) must use PULP 98 RON
  8. SUPERV6

    S/C V6 Power

The rev bouncing is normal and VERY typical of a super6. It is caused by the LCM (Lean Cruise Mode). This 'feature' can be turned off but is only accessible through a custom tune with Kalmaker. It can also be tuned 'better' with Kalmaker and still retain the function of LCM but smooth out the...

    Fe2

Well they won't fall out with FE2 or LOW springs...any lower and its a very real chance they WILL fall out. I DO have shorter shocks with SUPERLOW and they are very close to falling out even still!!! If I used the standard shock they definately would fall out. FE2 you will be fine though.
  10. SUPERV6

    Fe2

Lows are OK with stock length shocks. SUPERLOW and beyond need shorter shocks to keep the rear springs captive.
  11. SUPERV6

    Fe2

You can run standard shocks with FE2 height springs but it will just be lower without the benefit of the gas shocks and thicker/stiffer sway bars. If you just want the 'low' look without any handling improvement then thats all you need to do. However if you want 'proper' FE2 then you really...

    torque converter

The TCC (Torque Convertor Clutch) operates in 3rd and 4th gears. It is throttle position sensitive, speed related and the power/economy button alters the point it locks up also. There are a lot of parameters that effect it...many arent noticable to the average driver ;) Also transmission temp...

    Upgraded Vt s/charge,Questions,Answers,Help?

How many km's has the car done or more to the point...the trans done? Your trans may well be a little tired if its fully original and now you are poking a heap more torque through it it might be giving you some early indication to its true condition. Don't be too alarmed just yet as a shift...

POWER BUTTON... does it make much difference at all ??

Yep...so you've set it up basically to do short shifts in Economy. That would give you a softer feel and hence why you would get better results when you do use the power setting.
  15. SUPERV6

POWER BUTTON... does it make much difference at all ??

Yes thats true, but your'e talking custom tune/map there ;) Factory original mapping the pwr/eco button will give you nothing at WOT. Lots of things can be fine tuned with a custom tune/edit in the trans. minux >> Did it shift 800 rpm too early before or after tuning?
  16. SUPERV6

POWER BUTTON... does it make much difference at all ??

Higher revs doesnt always mean higher fuel consumption. Labouring is a pretty broad term and very variable. Gearing and driving style effect this greatly. At WOT the power/economy button means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The electronic trans will shift to the next gear when its reaches a...

    Diff Ratio Change 3.46:1

Yes I refer to shift kits as the type that need fitting internally to the trans with various springs, shims and some passages are drilled larger. I am using a Transgo HD2 reprogramming kit which has everything you need in the kit. You dont need Corvette servos or anything else for that kit...

    Rear axle end float

If you have FE2 then you should be able to stand the rear tyres up pretty straight and effectively remove most of the negative camber. Doesnt matter what suspension you have, you must maintain the correct axle end float and you will be fine.
  19. SUPERV6

    Rear axle end float

You adjust the camber with the IRS kit to obtain 1-1.5mm end float ;) Best idea is to have the car full of fuel to simulate a reasonable load over the rear suspension. Unfortunately, as you have seen, there is adjustment remaining but you simply wont be able to use it all :( How low have you...

    Diff Ratio Change 3.46:1

Yes all road speeds with a lower diff will rev higher no matter what throttle setting. Yes you can reprogram the transmission to whatever speed suits your needs. This is normally done with the Kalmaker software. Often when mods are done to increase HP and things like diff ratio is changed its...
  21. SUPERV6

    Diff Ratio Change 3.46:1

The 4L60E trans fitted to VS onwards is Electronically controlled by the ECU. The trans changes gears at predetermined road speeds NOT by revs. Also WOT and part throttle setting influence when its changes gear relative to road speed also. Problems can start to arise when the diff gears are...

    Camber Kit

The problem is you will still have adjustment available to reduce some of the unwanted negative camber but this uses all the available axle end float. Just something to be aware of...just because you have adjustment don't be tempted to use it all without first checking end float. I still had...

    Camber Kit

There is NO welding required but its not a job for a home mechanic. A hoist is a must to do it easily. Depends how low you intend to go also. Superlow or lower WILL require shorter shocks on the rear. FE2 you can get away with stock shocks. End float in the axles needs to be setup correctly...

    Diff Ratio Change 3.46:1

My fuel economy actually got better and that was going to 3.73!! The car doesnt need to labour quite so much as it gains speed so it gets there easier. 3.45 gears shouldnt cause it to hit the limiter but your speedo will be out slightly. Local dealer can adjust speedo with tech2. Gears cost...

    Excessive tyre punctures

I think you've answered your own question in that statement. Worn tyres are more prone to punctures. And throw in a handful of just plain bad luck to go with it ;)

    Beeps when i slow down

If it is the oil warning...this was a calibration fault in early VT's (yes you have series2). It may not actually be telling you the truth. By all means check your oil levels but it may just be an annoying fault. Usually if it was the oil fault it was only under HEAVY braking. I can't...

    Driving without a serpentine belt

You won't hurt the PS. It will just be very heavy to steer.
  30. SUPERV6

    Driving without a serpentine belt

NO you need it to spin the water pump!!! With the belt off, try to find if you have a pulley or maybe even the water pump that is seized. This could be the reason why it is killing belts. If you can't find whats wrong and/or keep the belt on then you WILL have to tow it.

    10 psi boost wheel

High 14's should be possible considering the XU6 already has a half decent exhaust. It will depend on all your other mods (if any). If you have Hi ratio rockers, boost and full exhaust then low-mid 14's are more likely. Add a custom tune and high 13's come into the picture. Add an...

    Gauge pods for VX

Yes its a bit of a problem. You need to keep it as far left as possible for maximum vision, but if you go too far left the gauge fouls with a structural dash support behind. I even had to grind part of this away to allow the gauge to sit fully in the hole. The support is plastic which is easy...

    -- Steering Problem.. >:(

Well yes it should be fixed. Maybe now is a good time to put decent bushes right through your suspension...Nolathane etc.

    -- Steering Problem.. >:(

Compressed and/or worn suspension rubbers. Front stabiliser outer bushes could be compressed and split.
  37. SUPERV6

    Gauge pods for VX

Yeah its easy to knock it up...just make a cardboard template and cut & trim it as you go to get it fitting perfect. Then transfer your template onto the MDF. It takes more time to pull the dash apart to pick up the lighting circuit for the new gauges than it does to actually make the new...

    Gauge pods for VX

OK here's the finished product. I had to replace a broken map pocket on the rear of the drivers seat so I used the old vynil from that to wrap the new gauge fascia with. I'm happy with the overall result and in time I will most likely put a oil temp gauge along side the pressure gauge.
