I had a cluster fail. Instrument place that repaired it said is common on VE. Sometimes they can repair but usualy not. Some chip gets fried due to a spike. Weird. They sourced a second hand replacement and programmed to suit from the old one. Plugged replacement back in and all good.

Update. Been ages but wanted to add some closure in case others have same issue. Yes the cluster had failed. Nothing showed up except the engine light stayed lit. Using my OBDII software I couldn't access any gauges either. I just replaced cluster with a changeover unit from an instrument...

Nah in Melb south east. Thanks anyway. I do have various OBDII software and cables. They do connect and do find faults I already know of. But not a Tech2 so not as good and therefor no help for me.

OK checked all the fuses, even ones not related, and all are fine. Had a play with access to the cluster. Can see how to get it out. Anyone got wiring diagrams for it? Just to see if it is getting power or BCM is perhaps not telling it to fire up. Want to narrow the basics down before dropping...

What are the options for VE V6? I've been told fully OBDII compliant so any generic scan tool. But hard to tell what's good and what's not. Want to clear anything and see everything. PC based too.

Pretty much anything 6 stud is interchangable. The thing that varies the most is the offset. Not sure what both offsets are sorry. But give it a try or have a measure before hand. I doubt they are much different, let alone enough to stop them fitting well.
