    Urgent water pump replacement

If you're really careful lifting the plenum chamber you won't damage the gasket, but you have to be careful. Lift it slowly and get your mate to look under as it's lifting to see if either side is caught, if it is, stop before you rip it. From memory, you don't need to put any sealant on the...

    Which fuel to use.

    98. Your engine will say thank you :) It helps keep your injectors clean, you don't need to change your fuel filter as often/it doesn't get clogged up as often, and you go further on the tank, so you make the cost back :)

fuel vapors inside my vz calais

Something to do with a vent next to the filler cap allowing fumes to come into the cab. You'll probably find you don't need a new cap, just do it up tighter when you fill up, or now even. If it's doing it and you find the cap lose that's your problem, just tighten it up and you'll be right :)

fuel vapors inside my vz calais

The most common cause of this as far as I'm aware is the fuel cap not being tightened enough. When you fill up, after it contacts and clicks, give it another 2 turns.

    Additional Child Seats

Thanks for all the tips and advice guys. I haven't had a chance to look yet, but I assume the points you're referring to are the ones that have the plastic screws in them that you need to remove in order to get the parcel tray out. I'll take a look when I get a chance. Again thanks so much guys.

    Additional Child Seats

Hi all, Just wondering if it's possible to add additional child seats to a VZ Calais... There's only one mounting point, are you allowed to attach multiple seats to the one connector? Not sure how it all works. But if you need an additional mounting point... where does it go? Cheers.

    vz problems

Hey sorry mate I just realised... I don't know if you're running a 6 or an 8 lol. The oil pressure switch on a 6 is under the oil filter housing, not sure where on the 8, and yeah the 02 sensors are on the exhaust, and I know for the alloytec there are at least 2, one for each header, but I'm...

    vz problems

I believe the oil pressure sensor is just under the oil filter housing. You should just be able to disconnect the wiring and unscrew it and put the new one in. After letting the oil settle of course.

    VZ key failure

I found, the frequency in which pressing a button does nothing, which eventually leads to the remote losing sync with the car, is directly proportional to the battery life of the remote. When the key is new it will work every/almost every time, but as the battery starts to die it will occur more...

    VZ key failure

    VZ key failure

Spot on. Just a little FYI from what a tech at Holden told me. As we all know, as the battery in the key begins to die the buttons begin to work less frequently. The guy at Holden told me the reason for losing sync though, is that you've pressed buttons on the key a total of 100 times without it...

running 100% octane fuel in there alloytec??

Oh really? Haha that's how long it's been since I used it lol. I use any 98 really. There was a thing on the news a few years ago saying that from the tests they did, Caltex actually had the best 98 available, so generally I use that, even though I've always preferred Shell or BP.

running 100% octane fuel in there alloytec??

The only 100 Octane fuel I'm aware of in Australia is Shell V Power Racing, which has 10% ethanol. Here's the thing about ethanol fuels that a lot of people don't realise: - Ethanol is cheaper than regular gasoline petrol, so if 10% of the fuel is ethanol, it should actually be cheaper. -...

Not another oil thread, just something more related to my situation

Over time, oil gets burnt, and picks up debris from the engine. If you don't do your oil changes regularly, these particles will flow through the engine and damage internal components, which is why regular servicing is required. Using a better quality oil doesn't mean you need to change your...

    what engine oil to use?

Nope, not because it's no good, I've just never had any experience with it and I've never really heard any awesome reviews from anyone. That's not to say it's bad, but Shell, Castrol and Penrite I've heard things about, and they're always awesome. Really, oil choice by brand simply comes down...

    what engine oil to use?

As far as I'm aware, the best oils are Shell, Castrol, and Penrite. I've never used Penrite personally, but I've used both Castrol and Shell, and they're both great. Shell is a bit more expensive though. You're best off waiting till Repco or Supercheap have sales, you'll find one of them will...

how to remove a storage compartment

    what engine oil to use?

Holden recommends 5W 30 for the Alloytec. Engine oils come in varying grades, mainly depending on what the engine does and the age. Engines now are much more compact and have smaller gaps between components. Oil pressure does not tell you if the pump is working, it tells you the resistance of...

I'm pretty sure that creaking sound is just the friction between your pads and rotors as they're starting to slip... unless it's something else you're describing..? Still 18L/100 Help please!

Ok so I did some highway driving yesterday, this is what I came to: 8.7L/100Km, determined over 52Km's at 110Km/h 7.7L/100Km, determined over 28Km's at 100Km/h I'd like to re-do the test at 80Km/h and 90Km/h to see what the difference is, my car (And I assume most VZ's with the 5 speed auto)...

    Still 18L/100 Help please!

Ah ok. You need to get a K&N recharge pack anyway to do it. Basically to clean the filter you need to spray it down with K&N degreaser, hose it down, wait for that to dry, then spray it down with K&N oil and let that soak in, maybe do a second coat to make sure it's all covered. Whatever you...
